I picked "rant" but it's less of an angry rant and more of a "vent." I've already seen a doctor (& have follow ups scheduled) so not necessarily looking for advice, moreso need support. Literally just acknowledgement would be nice: it doesn't feel like something I can share with a lot of people
Heads up, I am a transgender man and use he/him pronouns.
Almost two weeks ago, my boyfriend (21 cis male) and I (21 trans male) were having sex. He was fingering me, and he stopped to inform me: "Hey, babe, I don't want to freak you out, but you have a bump." We've been dating for 3 years and he knows my body pretty well, so I was concerned.
When he touched it, I couldn't feel anything. When I touched it, I also didn't feel anything. The bump is completely painless. It's on my right side (left if you were looking at me) and about knuckle deep. We have sex frequently enough that I know it's new, but couldn't say it wasn't there, say, a week or two before then.
As a trans man, I've had some shitty experiences with doctors, and so I waited to see my primary care doctor who I trusted. Ultimately, she canceled and I got a different doctor at her office, who was super super kind and did everything right.
She did some swabs with a speculum, then did a digit test. Ran blood tests and some urine tests as well.
She said based on her assessment, the bump was too hard to be an infection, and was probably either a sebaceous cyst, or a dermoid cyst. I was referred to imaging for a transvaginal ultrasound, and a gynecologist.
An infection isn't great, but like... I would almost have preferred that because then I at least know what it is and can go home with a treatment plan.
Now I'm left here just... Anxious about what it is. I know a lot of cysts are benign, but I also know some aren't. So that scares me. The lack of any other symptoms doesn't really assure me because I found it so early. But I also know that because I have caught it early, that things will probably be fine. They'll remove it, and it'll probably (hopefully) go away. But I feel like the only appropriate risk of cancer to ever have is 0%. And right now, it's not 0%.
I scheduled my appointment for imaging and the earliest they could get me in (across 10 different centers) is October 27th. I put myself on the wait-list for cancellations, and I'm really hoping for something earlier. I know I waited for this appointment longer than I needed to, I probably could have gone to urgent care (and I should have scheduled it way before I did anyway) but I was really hoping it was something easily identifiable.
I work retail and had to start my shift after that appointment. The first hour, I couldn't think about anything else. After charging my phone a bit, I put on some reddit stories to numb my brain. I know the next week and a half is gonna have to be me distracting myself, and that's fairly easy with work and grad school, and my amazing boyfriend, but like... I don't want to do anything else until I know 100% that it's benign.
