I am trying to go for a walk after a big meal to help keep my blood sugar down. So I decided to bring a game a long with me. I would have played if I sat down, so killed two birds with one stone.

Im looking into handhelds currently since I’ll be traveling more soon. I just don’t want to spend 1000+ one but I know there’s some under that too. What are my options?

Question (?) Odin 2 Portal base for $300 all-in, wait for the Portal 3, or something else?

Hey guys,

I’m about ready to pull the trigger on an Odin 2 Portal base model. Total comes out to around $300 USD with tax and shipping, which feels like a great price for that 7" 120Hz OLED screen.

That said, with AYN just teasing the Odin 3 Portal, I’m kinda stuck on whether I should just buy now or wait it out.

The O3 Portal will definitely cost more and take a while to actually ship, but I also don't want severe FOMO if it ends up being a massive upgrade right around the corner.
Is $300 a solid buy for the Odin 2 Portal right now, or is there something else better worth looking at around that price (or a bit more/less)?

Would love to hear what you guys would do!

Will a Z1 Extreme with 32gb of ram go toe to toe with a z2 extreme that has 24gb of ram?

I'm aware these igpu's don't require so much ram and are limited but the bandwidth available in ddr5 however given that the z2 extreme only seems to average about 10-15% more performance will a 32gb z2 extreme handle 1% low's better etc?

Question (?) Anyone encountered this issue?

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Gutting for a new handheld, but I just went to calibrate my sticks after installing my screen protector and thumbstick grips and saw this. Tried updating, resetting, restarting, nothing worked. There is no drift in games.

Question (?) Is the Steam deck LCD's screen good enough or should I spend an extra 80€ on an ROG Ally?

I've been looking for a good handheld to play mostly old games and maybe watch movies and anime on it so what I'm mostly interested in is on the screen, I want to have a nice screen that looks decently sharp and has good colors without having to spend 1000€ for an OLED. Which means that my only 2 options are a used Steam deck LCD for 220€ or a used ROG Ally Z1 extreme for 300€.

What do you guys think? Are the colors and resolution good enough on the Steam Deck LCD or should I go with the Ally?

Discussion Onexplayer sub mods updated their rules * Thank you guys for 100k views on my recent post it brought a lot of awareness!!* + Onexplayer 3 24hr review

Post image

First off, huge thank you to all the people siding with me. The mod that banned me ended up commenting on my post and I lashed out on them. They stated I showed my order confirmation, but the screenshot was cropped to show the 2 day delivery… not my order confirmation lol just so people knew it was real. Apparently I was whining and they updated rules

Nonetheless, they are NOT Onexplayer associates and I hope Onexplayer addresses them for this since that post now has over 100k+ views (probably won’t)

They’re able to let people show off their grips and deem that informative but when I show people you can get one off amazon in two days it’s a problem… baffling lol.

Review:

Set up - man it is a lot. But it’s worth it to get maximum performance. Shoutout to 128kb they helped a lot.

Nonetheless, this thing is a P O W E R H O U S E. the display is beautiful. A tiny bit of wobble on the left controller, but that’s it. The ergonomics on this thing is amazing. It does NOT feel like the legion go 2 (in a good way). Still testing out different TDP’s on different games so another post probably by the end of the month will let you guys know how I feel about it ! 1280p on this thing is chefs kiss.

Meme Why are we acting like +0.4 inches isn’t a lot?

I see people saying that the ROG Xbox Ally X20 is just the ROG Xbox Ally X that’s just 0.4 inches bigger but that’s a big difference.

Legion go s or rog ally

Looking to jump into the world of handheld gaming, any advice would be appreciated.

I’ve only ever had consoles, but pc gaming has always interested me. I don’t have the cash to be spending thousands on a gaming pc, so thought handhelds would be the way to go.
I’m just looking for something I can pick up and play, or hook up to a monitor in the house. I’m not big on online games, I mostly play single player story games or racing games.

The two standouts seem to be the legion s or ally. Will these be more than powerful enough for what I’m wanting to do, or would I need the legion s z1 or ally x.
I’ve also been looking at the steam deck, but I’ve never used steam before.

Complete novice to all this, so anyone with a handheld please let me know. Thanks

Question (?) Best pocketable handheld that plays ps1 and n64 well?

I'm looking for a good and small handheld with analogue sticks and the capabilities to play ps1 and n64 games.

My first option was Anbernic rg rotate but I don't think I could do without analogue sticks.

Another option was the r36s which I did get and did love mostly, although it was a fake one, but i realised it might be just a tad too bulky and I didn't like the shoulder buttons and d-pad (I understand this is another thing that is probably different between the fakes and real ine but still) and it might be a bit boring to have 2 of the same thing essentially.

Anbernic rg slide is another one that seems fun but it might be too expensive and does too much for what I need

I don't really have any other big contenders but this is generally what I looked at and what i liked and disliked about them so I would love to see recommendations.

I already have an Ayn thor which I don't think I've gone more than a day without using within past 4 or so months I've had it, genuinely such a beautiful device, but it is heavy and a bit of a precious thing to casually bring to school and on the bus.

Question (?) Steam Deck, ROG Ally or something else entirely?

I'm looking for a handheld console to play my Steam games on because my laptop is old and can't handle games very well at all. I also don't have the money to buy a gaming PC or laptop and on top of it I just prefer gaming on the couch or in bed.

I've now set my eyes on the Steamdeck or the ROG Ally (not X because it's much more expensive, unless you say it makes that much of a difference) but I'm really unsure if/what to get.

  • Needs to be able to run my Steam games smoothly and without exploding. It's mostly indie games, there might be a few more demanding ones in my library like Dead Space or the Plague Tale games? Idk. I'm a tech noob I have utterly no idea what the words in "system requirements" are trying to tell me.
  • It WOULD be nice if I could play Fable 4 on it once it comes out in February, so I don't have to buy an XBOX just for that one game.
  • I don't care much for the battery, I can only play 4 hours at a time without my brain melting out of my ears anyway
  • Equally don't care much if it's OLED or LCD. I've played on LCD with my Switch all this time, my TV is a Plasma, I don't think I've used anything with OLED in my life, so I'll be fine.
  • It would be cool if it could record gameplay, but that's optional. I just like that on my PS5 when something funny happens I can record into the past. My library is full of videos of funny glitches.

All in all I'm pretty low stakes, I just want to play my Steam games without blowing up my laptop (or my wallet).

I really hated the stock background wallpaper on the ally X20 so I removed all the text and symbol junk around the outside. Enjoy if you like it!
