I reported it (for a simple rule 5 violation). I can't see it because of this. Is it still there?

Mods don't jump on everything right away.

u/SRSgoblin 16h ago

Yeah it takes a bit for mods to get to stuff sometimes. Looks like this sub only has 7. One of those is likely just an administrative bot. People need to just report stuff and let the process play out before flipping a lid over it.

We can post about LOTR because it does have a tabletop game.

Isn't the Tabletop game also ran by GW? Sounds good to me

The Guard would love to have Siege Tank as their close range fire support.

Using HotS opening cinematic, Siege Tank seems don’t have that much range compared to standard artillery, but it exchanged for serious damage and fast reloading.

I hope that shit gets removed ASAP. It is the most blatantly against the rules. Their argument is that "Warhammer draws a lot if inspiration from religion" as if warhammer doesn't go out of it's way to actively shit on and mock the concept of religion at every opportunity

u/DonTrejos 17h ago

The poster boy of Warhammer 40k is a reddit atheist. I don't know how much more on the nose you can get without spelling it outright in the first paragraph.

u/TreeeToPlay Mongolian Biker Gang 16h ago

It makes no sense to compare religion in 40k with real life religion anyways because last time i checked in real life there is no daemons causing any and all divine miracles in history so the anti-religious sentiments of the Emperor follow a completely different logic than anti-religious sentiments in real life. The difference is that the Emperor knows he is right (he literally sees the demonic influence on any religious leader in history so he has proof)

75

u/VibinWithBeard I am Alpharius 16h ago

In the real world zealotic fuckwits think there are daemons and divine miracles so the comparison still works.

37

u/Craft_zeppelin 14h ago

Facism actually routinely uses religion to further it’s influence.

In Germany they said the Economical recovery was a “miracle” and the mustache man nearly got a nobel prize.

In Japan well, it’s very self-explanatory.

25

u/VibinWithBeard I am Alpharius 14h ago

Obsession with the occult and a national narrative/myth is a major aspect of Umberto Eco's 14 Points on Ur Fascism for a reason.

9

u/RatBasher9100 13h ago

How the Japanese treat religion is in no way self explanatory

4

u/G30rg3Th3C4t I am Alpharius 6h ago

Kamikaze literally translates to “divine wind”, and harkens back to the typhoons in the 13th century that protected Japan from Mongol invasion by destroying or blowing off course the incoming fleets. Imperial Japan also deified the emperor, all the way up to 1946.

6

Rule 3, actually.

2

Do not post hateful, demeaning, or disparaging content about other users on the basis of their race, color, religion, national origin, ethnicity, immigration status, gender, gender identity, sexual orientation, pregnancy, disability, etc.

Yes, calling people who believe in miracles and demons "zealotic fuckwits" is in fact a violation of rule 2. Unless you're arguing that calling people "zealotic fuckwits" isn't demeaning, or name calling, or disparaging on the basis of religion.

15

u/Craft_zeppelin 14h ago

Lorgar was technically correct about the fact that humanity as long as they are mortal needs a moral compass and something to quell their fears of the uncertainty of tomorrow. And if the Emperor was willing to banish religion as a concept he should have taken that mantle since he could if he cared.

The problem with this is that the Emperor is not a caring individual at all and doesn’t give a damn about singular individuals.

The second problem was Lorgar went to find alternatives of the worst kind.

11

u/Derpogama 14h ago

I think someone put it best, The Emperor cared about 'Humanity' like as a big picture thing but he doesn't actually give a shit about 'humans' because he has never really been one.

6

u/Euryleia Sister Unrepentia 12h ago

Can one love the forest while caring not for the trees?

6

u/Derpogama 12h ago

No, you can't but that is how the Emperor thinks. He loves the idea of humanity but doesn't love humanity itself...which is what caused all these fucking problems in the first place.

It's like people who love the idea of sustainable energy via windfarms etc. but the moment their view of green rolling hills was threatened, they kick up a fuss.

3

u/Craft_zeppelin 11h ago

Which explains why his Imperium uses wave tactics, human/child sacrifices. He has zero love for humans. But because he is a self-proclaimed atheist and it’s “science” its all ok.

The Emperor was lying about him not worshipping to any deities. He worships himself. Openly.

5

u/Craft_zeppelin 13h ago

Then there comes the big question.

How can you even love humanity when you can't even love a single one of them? Or do you just love controlling a mass of humans? If it's the latter, you are either a dictator or a cult leader. Or both in the venn diagram.

Lorgar probably should have made friends with Vulcan/Russ/Magnus/Fulgrim/Guilliman or gathered up to ask about this problem. Because these 5 likes humans.

3

u/Derpogama 13h ago

I mean it's quite clear that the Emperor was basically both in the venn diagram but he thought he knew how things would go and that he was right, that it had to be his way for humanity to succeed and possibly ascended beyond the mortal coil...or something...we don't actually really know what his end goal was, there's hints that it's a human ascension project or something...moving everyone to the Webway maybe...I don't know...

4

u/Craft_zeppelin 13h ago

I don't find this to be able to be trusted being the idea coming from a person that can turn into a fifth chaos god.

...Especially when it looks like nearly the same conditions when Slaanesh was made.

2

u/NightLordsPublicist 10 pounds of war crimes in a 5 pound crazy bag 11h ago

Lorgar was technically correct about the fact that humanity as long as they are mortal needs a moral compass

Konrad is right there.

Lorgar should have learned more from Konrad.

2

u/Craft_zeppelin 11h ago

Honestly you are right. If Konrad told him about it even in a light manner he would have noticed he is being puppeted by Erebus.

0

u/Versidious #1 Tau Hater 14h ago

The Emperor *did* try to replace it, with the Imperial Truth. He wanted to make it secular. Even what he told the Primarchs of Chaos was just "They're basically just xenos but in the warp, don't worry about it, nothing 'supernatural' really.", attempting to inoculate them against the idea of them as powerful gods. His reasoning behind the Imperial Truth and the Great Crusade was to create something, a structure and ongoing project, in the form of the Imperium for humanity to believe in and divert them from the warp, while trying to structurally isolate humanity from dependence on warp technology. There's a reason why, when they felt their job was nearly done, the Primarchs faltered and became vulnerable to doubt and Chaos.

3

u/Craft_zeppelin 13h ago

Well, "try" is a overstatement. He did it at gunpoint. Nobody had a choice or chance. And also the worst part of it, it doesn't alleviate one's fear at all when he is conscripting them by the billions and making extremely painful live human sacrifices to the astronomican.

I say a great philosopher and mind can convince someone without power. What is Emps without it? His immortality, psychic powers and brainwashing by the biological/genetic level?

Would anyone believe him? I say without his power he is acting like a cult leader that utilizes human sacrifices and militia.

1

u/Versidious #1 Tau Hater 13h ago

What do you think religions are? The promise of divine wrath/reincarnation as a worm if you're bad and disobedient is a core of world religions since time immemorial - terrible karma and hell are celestial 'at gunpoints'. A great philosopher cannot convince through argument someone who is either not willing to listen or unable to comprehend complex arguments. Even the most just laws passed by states have the threat of state violence backing them up. All these are problems faced by us now in our debates, dialogues, and attempts at social and technological progression.

3

u/Craft_zeppelin 13h ago

...So basically everything negative what the Emperor does. Like what is the upside of this? Not getting killed by the Emperor?

-1

u/Versidious #1 Tau Hater 12h ago

That's genuinely an incoherent response that doesn't really engage with what I said, so I'm not sure how to respond to it, sorry.

Being a flat Earth atheist* is quite embarrassing to atheists.

* A trope referring to skeptic of the supernatural living in a world where magic and gods and supernatural shenanigans are in your face all the time.

19

u/fhota1 16h ago

Eh not really. Unlike in this universe, gods in 40k are objectively real. Like people have seen and interacted with them. Faith has objective power as well. I get that he was trying to starve the gods, but that plan was realistically never going to work. It probably wouldve been better to have some form of controlled Imperial religion with Gods to counter the Chaos Gods instead of pretending they dont exist when they can easily prove that they do

2

u/Derpogama 14h ago

Which was Lorgars plan initially before the Emps hit him with the big stick and torched his prized city as 'punishment', which resentment then causes Lorgar to find other things...

Dude could not comprehend that his plan might not be the best way the same why he couldn't be bothered to sort the friendly Xenos from the aggressive Xenos because that would have taken too long, so he just had all of them that got in the way killed, leaving every other Xenos species that survived hate humanity or was tough enough to bounce back and already hated humanity (and everyone else) anyway.

0

u/Lookitsa6ix 13h ago

Please don't make Big E out to be morally right here.

I am friends and family with religious people and they exist like everyone elsewithout doing what this asshole does.

Normal everyday people that believe in religion, aren't out here pushing the message, pissing people off. In fact they tend to be nicer, more caring people in my experience.

They respect me, I respect them, its simple.

I would never underestimate a Bible thumpers want to preach. I got one on the corner screaming their head off about oppressed they are on the corner right now. 1

u/DJ_Hart 10h ago

Warhammer doesn't mock religion, it satirizes religious extremism

1

u/Percentage-Sweaty 9h ago

I respectfully disagree. I think that Warhammer doesn’t shit on religion itself, it just shits on blind fanaticism.

Warhammer also have relatively level headed characters, who hold onto a sincere faith. That faith in a higher power allows them to persevere through tough situations that clinging to logic alone wouldn’t cut.

However I do agree with you that preaching genuine Scripture doesn’t work on tabletop wargame subreddits.

That being said, if we’re on something like r/40kLore and we’re directly comparing things in 40k to Scripture and Biblical contexts? That’s different.

But that’s not what this is.

1

u/Icy_Agency923 15h ago

I don't think there is anything to worry about until the post actually hits the front page, which it won't.

0

u/PEND_BEST_DECK 5h ago

Warhammer 40k also draws a fair bit of inspirarion from the imagery of the nazis, but I doubt abyone would find it acceptable for someone to post triumph of the will with a caption suggesting you should hear out hitler.

Obviously religion isn't nearly half as bad as nazis but the argumdnt structure is the same.

0

u/Desert_Ork_Tucson 2h ago edited 2h ago

You mean the Byzantine Empire? That is what Warhammer bases the Imperium off of. Absolutely not Nazis.

Literally the flag of the Byzantine Empire, quite specifically the flag and seal of the Palaiologos dynasty, starting with Emperor Michael VIII Palaiologos whom adopted the flag to signify the Emperor. The eagle heads represent the Empire's reach, east and west.

1

u/PEND_BEST_DECK 1h ago

I mean, the visual style of the aquilla looks nothing like the bizantine eagle and is stylalistically identical to to the nazi eagle. Let's also ignore that the nazi eagle (or any nazi symbol) is a shorthand for fascist totalitarian government and the bizantine flag has no implication at all to most people and is largely unknown.

And, I mean, come on. Just look at the thing. The wings are styled practically identically. They just gave is a second head and took out the swastika. The obvious intention to anyone with a functional brain is bring the nazi eagle to mind and the idea that you're supposed to think of the bizantines is absurd cope.

When ever you see shit like this remember

Matthew 6:5-7

And when you pray, do not be like the hypocrites, for they love to pray standing in the synagogues and on the street corners to be seen by others. Truly I tell you, they have received their reward in full. But when you pray, go into your room, close the door and pray to your Father, who is unseen. Then your Father, who sees what is done in secret, will reward you.

Christians who actually, ya know, believe in the teachings of Christ, don't do this kind of shit.

8

u/TheMadmanAndre Praise the Man-Emperor 7h ago

There's something you have to understand about many proselytizers: they often have a pathological need to be a victim. The second they stop being a victim, their entire worldview collapses. That's why those street preachers on the corner or in the subway will lash out at or just outright ignore folks that come up to them and try to engage in a dialogue: because doing so means their entire worldview is at risk.

There's also the fact that this is a common reinforcement tactic used by the more Fundie Christian sects, e.g. Mormons, JWs, et cetera. They get their young members to go to places, and scream at the folks there that if they don't convert to their extra special flavor of bible interpretation they're doomed to hell. Then when they get mocked and harassed by folks in turn, they go back to their cult and get comforted with an explanation that the outside world is evil and satanic, and the only good place left is the cult.

It's not about converting anyone, it never was. It's to make sure the members of the cult can't be, well, normal around non-cult members, so that they stay in the cult. It's indoctrination, pure and simple.

6

Seems like a fun schedule.

u/Henry_Fleischer 11h ago

Most of the time when I see stuff like this it exists because nobody's gotten around to reporting it.

u/StrategyBusy9579 12h ago

I'm a cradle catholic and I can never fully not believe in Catholicism because this shit is burned into my brain guilt wise. That said, we gotta stop this shit. It's just bad for people and the marriage of capitalism with Christianity has been catastrophic for the world. From the slave trade to the genocide of the Americas to AI slop convincing people climate change isn't real or that angels will save them or that god will make them rich it's just a net negative for humanity at this point.

We've had a total of two good popes trying to address the horrors that the church has perpetuated but only when the Vatican is pretty much inconsequential politically. Our priests don't even bless flamethrowers like the Eastern Orthodox wackos.

I'm not 100% sure where I was going with this, but I'm not a fan of selling religion and really not into this proselytizing shit. Faith is supposed to be an internal journey and a challenge to rectify your own failings and cruelty to others or to feel bad for cranking off too much, not a fucking app to subscribe to.

-1

u/stormdyr 9h ago

Didnt know the vatican is working on frontier models. Or that they did the slave trade? Like wtf are you talking about.

2

u/StrategyBusy9579 4h ago

Buddy what part of "we had a total of 2 good popes trying to address the horrors that the church has perpetuated but only when the Vatican is pretty much inconsequential politically" sounds like I'm a fan of the Catholic church and its numerous sins? Yes I'm well aware. They pretty much arbitrated the carving up of all of South America for Spain and Portugal to run their slave empires in and resulted in the deaths of million, helped the fucking Nazis with their genocide as well as hide money and war criminals flee at the end of the war, had incessant sexual abuse of kids throughout the clergy and sided the fascists. The only good part of catholicism is liberation theology and even that is fucking slim pickens compared to everything else the church got up to.

Not sure what you're going for here?

u/Lookitsa6ix 15h ago

The mods took action, we're chilling

u/HiddenAstolfo Impregnated by a Sororita 16h ago

What's stopping you from praying?

I'm bi, I would be going to hell dude

-26

u/Karrion_Kull 16h ago

Dawg, you being bi wouldn't send you to hell 💀

11

u/HiddenAstolfo Impregnated by a Sororita 16h ago

Because it's 50/50? So half my body is going to hell and the other no?

-31

u/Karrion_Kull 16h ago

No, thats not really how it works.. you're definitely confused

17

u/VibinWithBeard I am Alpharius 16h ago

Tell that to several major religious sects as well as the bible they pull from.

-22

u/Karrion_Kull 16h ago

Most "major religious sects" disregard it and make their own rules up, people who think "oh well im gay, guess im going straight to hell and i gotta hate the bible now" are grossly misinformed and dont do any real research on it. Thats not how any of it works LOL

8

u/VibinWithBeard I am Alpharius 15h ago

"Most religious sects ignore their religious texts" isnt the winning argument you think youre making.

Misinformed implies the book isnt anti-gay...but it is. Just like how the book explicitly condones rape and slavery. What research is missing exactly?

Im anti-theist either way so my point is always that magical thinking = bad and that the book is internally inconsistent and self-contradictory.

-4

u/Karrion_Kull 15h ago

There is no "winning argument", you shouldnt worry about fake internet points like that. Simple fact. Rape is actually condemned in new testament teachings, which are the new laws, and just because it allows slavery doesnt mean its allowed in our time? You shouldnt be so myopic. That doesnt mean slavery is gonna be rampent because the book says so, think ahead, and stop losing your composure so easily 💀

4

u/VibinWithBeard I am Alpharius 15h ago

"I have not come to abolish the old laws but to fulfill them"

If the book was the inerrant word of god it wouldnt be historically subjective. Did rape/slavery go from moral to immoral over time? Almost like its the authors beliefs and a useless book for a blood sacrifice cult.

-1

u/Karrion_Kull 14h ago

And the laws were fulfilled, and the old laws were dust, whats so hard to understand? Might i suggest reading some more scripture? It was never "moral", and morality between then and now has been ever changing, and luckily it is still considered immoral. As it typically was back then. Try again

Correct. Because Hell isn’t real.

Sounds like pagan mischief to me

14

u/TherapyByHumour 16h ago

Religious psychosis is so annoying. Should stick them in a pain engine.

11

u/ShatteredSike Dank Angels 16h ago

AFAIK it's not, report and it should be deleted.

Fuck actual religious nutjobs trying to proselytize on my fake dogmatic religious sub.

4

u/fallenspaceman 13h ago

Saw some guy telling people to find Jesus (unironically, completely seriously) in the Darktide subreddit. He seemed to think it was perfectly appropriate content for a Darktide sub.

3

u/_Zyr 10h ago

As big E would say,

Fuck that shit.

10

u/TheRockEMDoc 17h ago

This sub is agnostic, as the God-Emperor intended...

3

u/fantasybreeder 15h ago

I’m so glad I missed that one, cause if I start seeing that shit on this sub I’m out.

I’ll miss Grimdank dearly, but the memes aren’t worth that.

3

u/Fifteen_inches 15h ago

Why is he using 40K when Trench Crusade is right there.

3

u/gumpythegreat 14h ago

I don't know but there's a great opportunity to turn that guy into Lorgar and make this a shitpost

Invest now

3

u/kazmark_gl Praise the Man-Emperor 14h ago

These are stealth advertisements I would be suprised if this was even posted by a human.

2

u/jreed12 15h ago

2

u/Zapviala 14h ago

Lorgar... Is that you?

2

u/Narradisall 12h ago

I mean. Did they miss what happened to Christianity in the setting?

2

u/Something_Comforting 4h ago

I saw this from r/SubredditDrama first, lol

3

u/bizzykittyyy 16h ago

dark apostle advertising the book of lorgar

2

u/EnthusiasmVirtual320 13h ago

There seems to be a movement of religious fanatics trying to worm their way into video games that out right mock, belittle and deride religious fanaticism. 40K and Halo seem to be the biggest targets so far.

Need to nip this in the bud before it gets worse.

3

u/TheChunkMaster 13h ago

What do you have to lose? Just rewire your brain

2

u/LFK1236 15h ago

It's been up for twenty minutes, how fast do you think the mods are?

2

u/Scared-Ad7282 11h ago

Reddit has been bending the knee to christofascism for a while.

1

u/Kaiser_James 15h ago

I must’ve block this guy in the past, as I can’t find it or the user when searching. Is it still up?

1

u/kirbcake-inuinuinuko 7h ago

i love how they at least tagged it correctly

1

1

u/EMPEROROFTHEGEESE 16h ago

Because my belly is so inflated and fat rn and full of big green stinky farts

1

u/Thraxmonger 15h ago

That is some seriously braindead horseshit. If mods allow that, we need to bail here.

5

u/Beragond1 Cadia Stans 15h ago

Mods got it. It had only been up for 20 minutes when OP screenshotted it.

1

u/Status-Tune-6639 15h ago

I hadn’t thought about slaanesh’s views on our current religions but I bet a large sum of money they’re elated with what the Catholics have been up to for the last few hundred years.

-14

u/GhostReven 16h ago

So, did you even report it to the mods OP?

-4

u/Visible_puncture 16h ago

I hope someone starts sharing good quality exegetics videos to the hobby community. There’s a lot of inspiration we could take if we go for the academic research stuff 😉

-3

u/Yellowtoblerone 13h ago

are you talking about the ad? you can use revanced etc to get rid of it/morph. Or redreader

-30

u/Big_Lengthiness_7706 16h ago

Just downvote and move on

-23

u/Sad-Zucchini-949 NOT ENOUGH DAKKA 15h ago

Why shouldn't it be?

10

u/ArcanaTheSun 14h ago

Why would you want these people apostolizing in a 40k sub in the first place? I wish they'd mind their own business.

6

u/Nzgrim Swell guy, that Kharn 14h ago

I absolutely want people to apostolize in here. Spread that good word of the Dark Gods. Khorne loves you(r skull)!

3

u/Ghazzz 12h ago

Big E is a golden idol, just like modern day crucifixes are golden idols for christians.

2

u/Lookitsa6ix 12h ago

Better question. Why should it? Go on.
