Please welcome our two new moderators - u/N33dForTweed and u/BigTimeRaptor! The plan is through adding some more folks to the mod team we can continue to grow the sub and increase both engagement and usefulness for existing users.

Here is a bit about each of our new mods:

u/N33dForTweed - Hey everyone! I’m your new mod here—big GX 470 enthusiast who loves builds, wrenching, and keeping these trucks going strong. Happy to help and excited to be part of this crew. Looking forward to keeping the sub helpful, positive, and full of solid info for everyone.

Im a fan of the hive mind for all things GX, giving and asking for advice, etc. Whether your a beginner or an expert im here to help, learn and have fun right along with the sub. Any friendly thoughts or suggestions are always. welcome. Im looking forward to seeing you all in our sub BigTime Semper Fi

As always, please reach out to your r/GXOR mod team with any suggestions or concerns!

I am not sure why there is so much KDSS hate. I built my GX460 with Full KDSS, Total Chaos, Fox 2.5 Race internal bypass shocks and all the DR KDSS correction parts it rips in the desert. I have had no issues with it.

Free GX470 SuperPro steering rack bushings

Had these in mine for less than 1,000 miles before my rack decided it was done lol. Was gonna give them to my brother but he got new ones before I swapped my rack out

Free to a good home, just need the grease and you'll be ready to install them. If you wanna cover postage that would be appreciated but I'm willing to just throw them in an envelope and send them over

Edit: US only

How and why I removed KDSS from my Lexus GX460 (J150) and switched to non-KDSS Prado 150 sway bars

Question on Slip Spacers

Well, I lied; kinda. When I first put my lift and larger tires on, I posted on here that I was not rubbing other than the front plastic wheel well. Turns out I was mistaken and just posted before driving it enough. I heat gunned the wheel well and fixed all that. I then discovered I had a slight rub on the UCA at full lock, most noticeable in reverse. It is not too difficult to avoid, but is slightly annoying. I am sure it is also not good for my ball joints when it occurs.

The easiest fix seems to be wheel spacers. I would like to go as small as possible to avoid too much leverage on the wheel bearing and also do not want to replace the studs. I came across slip spacers, and they claim you can use the stock stud. Does anyone else have experience with these or can provide any guidance? TIA

All jokes aside, $5.9k for a 155k mile GX isn’t a bad deal.

Chipping hood paint temporary solution 😅

Quick little after and before for my first post on here (hello everyone). Wanted to show some love to Form Fit Hood Protectors out of Canada, they create an amazing product for a great price. Had a hard time trying to figure out what to do with this god awful paint on my hood until I found this massive bug guard. Perfect coverage for my affected area by the grill and has that awesome early 2000s look! This is in no way a sponsored post, just trying to help anyone else who is having the same issue as me and doesn’t want to repaint (yet). Completely transforms the look, super pleased with it.

AT Tire Recommendation?

Getting Method 703s soon in 17 inch size. I’m torn between the Toyo AT 3 and Toyo RT Trail because the RT Trail has a much nicer appearance to me but snow and ice is a important metric for me to keep in mind as I’m up north in michigan / Indiana

Where to mount a front parking camera on GX470?

I guess the headunit I will be installing during my non-nav conversion has an option for a front cam. Not sure what style to get and where to mount it.

Better to get shakedown runs done in order to find issues and understand how the build behaves before running for Slickrock, especially with my skill set (or lack of). Cheers

Update on Cooked GX470

Post image

Picked it up from Evanston Wy this weekend and took it to Joe and Gabe at Mercon Auto in Colorado Springs. Hopefully find out tomorrow if it can be rebuilt. Lots of lessons learned and my bank account hates me but she will hopefully be back on the road sooner than later.

So far I highly recommend Mercon. Communication has been amazing. Lots to do still. Will update later.

Am I Cooked Yet?

Just crossed 234k miles on my ‘08 GX470. Definitely starting to get some frame rot from being in New England for 20 years. We are also due for a timing belt job.

My question is - is it worth doing everything now given the current condition of the frame? Or should I jump ship now before it gets more severe? The truck is cosmetically immaculate (new seat cushions, no cracking dash, literally everything works) and I absolutely love it.

I am inexperienced with frame issues and would love some feedback if possible, is this what the kids would consider “cooked”?

Appreciate it!!
