Discussion How I’m Fixing Meta’s Data Sharing Restriction for Sensitive Categories (Health & Wellness, Religion, Financial, Political)

This is one of the burning issues on Meta right now and I wanted to share what’s been working for me. I’ve been doing this for over a year now and have helped 40+ brands restore their tracking permanently after Meta’s category restrictions.

Meta applies these restrictions across several sensitive categories including:

  • Health & Wellness
  • Financial Services
  • Religion
  • Political Content

The restriction blocks your standard events completely: Purchase, Checkout, Add to Cart, Lead, Contact and more. Here’s the approach that works across all of them:

  1. Implement a proper server side Conversions API setup using a dedicated server
  2. Ensure first party data tracking to maintain data accuracy
  3. Use the right event strategy depending on your brand’s location and regional data privacy requirements (GDPR, CCPA, etc)
  4. Map all key parameters correctly like value, currency, content IDs and User data
  5. Set up and test conversions in Meta Events Manager to confirm everything is firing accurately

The exact implementation varies depending on your platform, location and current setup, but this framework has worked consistently and permanently across 40+ brands.

If anyone has faced this and found other workarounds, I’d love to hear.

Discussion If your ads say the same thing your competitor's ads say, your ads aren't proving anything.

I'll show you with two EV charging apps that sell the exact same thing and use the exact same number.

The setup

Chargemap and Octopus Electroverse both sell one app that works at lots of chargers across Europe. Both ads say "over 1 million chargers."

I pulled 325 of their Meta ads and translated them from five languages. (The Ad Library doesn't show spend or results, so this is about what they say, not what works.)

The Same-Claim Trap
When two brands make the same promise, the promise stops working. The buyer hears "1 million chargers" twice and believes neither. It's just noise.
The only thing that wins is proof the other guy can't copy. Here's how each brand handled it.

Chargemap stacked proof on top of the claim

Real people. Their top ad right now is a street interview. A real driver at a real charger says he's used it since 2018 and it's never failed him.

A real test. They film long road trips to show you won't run out of charge.

A big name. Citroën sends its own drivers to Chargemap. When a car company backs you, you don't need to say much else.

Octopus didn't stack anything

75 ads, and not one real person.
More than half are cartoon videos of the app. Most of the rest just show the number.
Same ad, new language for each country.

Octopus made a choice, not a mistake

Cartoons are cheap. Change the voice and text, and you're live in four countries for almost nothing. Chargemap has to film real people in every country.

So Octopus picked low cost per country. Chargemap picked trust. Neither is wrong. But if you copy Octopus without knowing you're making that trade, you're paying for it in trust.

How to get out of the Same-Claim Trap

Write down the main promise in your ads.
Open the Ad Library and read your top competitor's last 20 ads.

If they say the same thing, your promise is now worth zero. Stop leading with it alone.

Add one proof they can't copy:
A real customer saying how long they've used you
A partner or bigger brand backing you
A test or demo with real results

Put that proof in the first 3 seconds, not at the end.

What I can't tell you: which brand gets more sign-ups, or how many ads each one really runs. My tool stopped at a set number.

Has anyone tested cartoon app videos against real customers on camera? I want to know if the money saved is worth the trust lost.

Help How much should I charge?

I’m putting together a quote for a real estate developer client based here in Jalisco, Mexico. He wants me to manage five separate accounts for Meta Ads campaigns. Honestly, I’m not sure what to charge; his products are high-ticket items (priced above 5 million Mexican pesos).

Any tips or advice?

Help 1600€ CPM! That’s crazy

New campaign: CBO €50, sales, fashion in UK, 4 hours, spent: €5 for literally 3 impressions, CPM: €1,600! I understand that CPMs can be high at the start when there’s no spend, but here we’re talking about €5 spent with a CPM of €1,600. I’ve never seen anything like it. If I’d forgotten about this campaign, it probably would have used up the entire budget for 31 impressions.

Old ad account, tier 2, bm verified, domain verified, pixel has data..
really can’t figure out, Can anyone tell me if this happens to others or if it's just a problem I'm having?

Discussion $1m/mo in spend... shit hit the fan since Tuesday. 95% bounce rate??

Been spending $30-60k day between two accounts and to be honest... last 45-60 days have been ripping up until Tuesday. Then everything jumped off a cliff.

We have 15+ ads that are killers. These ads have been crushing. We know our ICP incredibly well. We know what ads work. We've been spending at this rate for over a year, but whatever algo change Meta has made in the last few days has just demolished traffic quality. We're seeing a 95% to 97% bounce rate in the last few days, when historically it's around 50% to 60%. The strangest part is our cost per checkout is right in line with when the account performs.

Noticing 80% of traffic coming from reels now which usually is 40-50%.

Figure this is all prep for the Oct 31 policy changes + holidays.

Buckle up!

Help Good Soft Metrics ≠ Guaranteed Conversions

So when creatives get good soft metrics, is it guaranteed that they convert? Or is it still possible that the ads get good metrics and cheap traffic but don’t convert, without that being a sign that the LP or offer is bad? It’s just the nature of ads that some creatives convert better than others. In the end, marketing and Meta ads are mostly guesswork (with the necessary direct-response fundamentals, of course), and you never really know what converts and what doesn’t. Just because a creative gets cheap traffic but doesn’t convert doesn’t mean the offer or LP is bad, as long as the shop gets conversions and add-to-carts overall.

Help Ads restriction

Hi everyone,
I’m looking for help with a Meta Business account restriction that I’ve been dealing with since May
“This account was created or used with an automation that doesn’t follow our rules.”
The strange thing is that I haven’t used any unauthorized automation tools or bots, and I have no idea what triggered this restriction.
I submitted an appeal and completed the required face/video verification, but my appeal was rejected almost immediately, without any clear explanation.
Since then, I’ve been unable to run Instagram ads or promote my business.
I’m trying to find a way to get my case reviewed by an actual Meta support representative rather than receiving automated responses.
Has anyone experienced the same issue and successfully resolved it?

Help Why is 90% of my budget going to the creative with the worst metrics?

So im trying meta ads for the first time and I could really use some advice before I torch hundreds of dollars.

I’m in the apparel niche, product I’m advertising is 40$. My creatives are simple product-focused images.

I set up a campaign, and put 1 adset in the campaign with a budget of 50$/day

That adset technically only has 1 ad in it, but that ad is a dynamic creative ad with 5 different images and 3 different text variations. (Sidenote: is this too much?)

I let it run for a full 24h and got: 59 clicks 5% ctr 2 atc 0 sales

Obviously losing money but the 5% ctr confused me. So I did a breakdown of the ad by image/creative and this is where I’m really confused.

45$ were spent on one creative. This creative so far only got 12 clicks and a staggering 3.50$ cpc

3$ were spent on the second creative. The second creative has a 0.08$ cpc and 47 clicks!

So my question is why did meta see the cpc and click rate of the second one and decide to pump all of my budget into the first one?

Should I be extracting creative 2 into a new adset by itself and running that separately as a test?

Also, is this enough data to kill creative 1 given my product price? I’ve seen some people say it takes a few weeks to stabilize but with this current spending strategy I’d be spending 180$ per sale assuming a 2% conversion rate on clicks and that’s just terrible.

Bug / Outage Meta Bug?

Looks like everyone is having the same issue. My campaign has been running for 2 months suddenly got rejected due to "deceptive live". We are a clothing store.

My campaign with deceptive link is now running and spending, but I can't do any edit, nor seeing the ads.

Tried to see if i can edit and re-submit, but said that my "post has been removed". First of all, I've never made it a "post", the creatives we all selected manually from my creatives pool which wasn't made for "posts". Not sure why they called it that.

Secondly, does anyone have this issue when you upload and add, you select your creatives manually (not from existing posts), and it automatically made it "existing posts" and restrict you from editing after submission? That was new to me.

And while Meta status said everything is working lol...

Update: Chatting with Meta support right now. They said everything was okay, no issue. So I replied "but i still can't edit the post" Asked the clear cache and all, still didn't work. They checked again, and said that the post was deleted FROM MY SIDE. And of course I didn't, I am the only user here.

While my ad is still spending. Absurd.

Help What would you budget to market a traveling family attraction city to city?

I’m developing a traveling immersive family attraction that would operate for a weekend in a metro area before moving on to another city the next weekend.

Tickets would likely be around $30–$35 for kids/adults. The target audience is primarily families with children roughly elementary to middle-school age.

The attraction would move market to market across the U.S., with each city getting roughly 6–8 weeks of marketing before opening.

I’m trying to get a realistic feel for paid marketing spend per market. If the goal were roughly 2,000–4,000 child ticket sales in a weekend, what kind of budget would you expect to need?

I’m especially interested in hearing from people who have marketed live events, attractions, museums, family entertainment, festivals, touring shows, or ticketed experiences.

What channels would you prioritize, and what CAC would you consider realistic?

Help Bad Google Ads performance since October?

To be honest, my Google Ads conversion performance has been very poor since mid-September, and it’s gotten even worse in October. I initially assumed it was due to Labor Day or Amazon Prime Day, but as of today—October 16th—things are still just as bad. I’m at my wit's end; my daily sales are only a third of what they usually are. How are your Google Ads performing?

Discussion Bevor Meta Ads Mainstream wurden

Help Lead gen for a wall panel fysical store.

I run meta ads for a physical wall panel store and launched a Meta Leads campaign optimized for whats..p conversations. I've spent €90 and got 104 link clicks so far. But no conversations started so far. Tracking works fine, but I'm unsure what my next steps should be.

The budget is 25 a day, i know its not much right now. But you'd think there would be a few conversations as of now.

The metrics:

- Total Spent: €90.31

- Daily Budget: €25

- Reach: 6,476

- Impressions: 8,877

- Frequency: 1.37

- CPM: €10.17

- Link Clicks: 104

- CPC (Link): €0.87

- Link CTR: 1.17%

- Total Clicks: 431

- CTR (All): 4.86%

- CPC (All): €0.21

So far 0 conversations.

Campaign Goal: Generate Whats.ap conversations.

What should my next step be? I was thinking of just waiting a bit more for meta to learn. I dont want to be to hasty.

Any tips?

Help App Advertising Tips

Hi Everyone,

I'm about to start my first meta campaign. I was wondering if you guys had some tips?

How many different creatives did you have at first? How much money did you put in as your daily budget? Did yall optimize for installs or in app purchases? Did you guys set audience restrictions?

Thank you!

Help Why is Meta doing this?

When testing creatives, let’s say for example one batch with 3 creatives in one ad set and an ABO campaign with €40/day, Meta often spends most of the budget on the creative that performs worst.

Why does Meta give the majority of the budget to the creative with the highest CPM and (sometimes) the lowest CTR? For example, the one that gets the spend has €25 spend, a €40 CPM and a 1.7% CTR, while the second creative in the same ad set has only €3 spend, a €30 CPM and, even with those fewer impressions, already a 2.5% CTR. So why is Meta spending the budget on the one that costs me more?

Does the algorithm expect better results, or what is happening? I mean, the audience clearly shows which creative they like most, or don’t they?

What I do in this scenario is kill the creative that gets the spend but has worse metrics, so Meta is forced to spend on the creative with the better metrics. But this way of testing is far more expensive for me because I have to test twice, and I can’t really rely on the algorithm.

So why is Meta doing this? Should I still trust the algorithm and not test the creative that gets no spend a second time by killing the one with worse metrics?

This doesn’t happen that rarely, and often the metrics of the creative with less spend are still better, even at the same amount of spend, than those of the previous creative that got the spend.

Any recommendations?
