You want it soooo bad, then just pay what I am asking

Selling a vintage item, not super expensive, less than a couple hundred bucks, but collectable none the less. I get an offer for less than 40% of asking price, politely decline, and counter with my best price, they come back $5 more than the initial offer.

Blocked.

Next day, new offer, different buyer, same zipcode/town -
"im a collector. you're right. it checks all the boxes. but i can't afford them at this price. and you wont go down. i don't think anyone would wants these for the price listed no disrespect. i dont want to be unprofessional or be on bad terms with your business. but i want these. and i can't afford then at XXX."

a minute later -
"there way too much. i think its overpriced"

another minute -
"if there up for a month or two. would you consider XX for them?"

One more minute -
"i need them"

Blocked.

Then this morning, a new offer, new buyer, same town, same zipcode. Same low price.

Guess what?

Blocked.

Three different accounts, makes me think they are worth way more than I am asking! LOL!

Happy selling all.

USPS geo-based pricing updates effective October 18, 2026

USPS geo-based pricing updates effective October 18, 2026

USPS is updating how it prices some domestic shipments. Today, these shipments use two rate groups: standard and rural. Under the new geography-based pricing structure, USPS will use three rate groups for Ground Advantage shipments, based on the package’s destination ZIP code, in addition to standard rates. While this is not an overall rate increase, shipping prices may vary more depending on the destination, with rates increasing or decreasing for some ZIP codes. View the USPS geo-based ZIP code list.

USPS may adjust these rates periodically. If you use calculated shipping on eBay, the shipping costs will be automatically calculated so buyers will see an accurate shipping rate based on their location. Shipping with eBay Labels remains simple, and we’ll continue to pass along the best available discounts to our sellers. Most buyers will not see a rate increase as a result of this change.

What to know for October 18:

  • USPS Ground Advantage: Pricing will reflect the updated geo-based rate cards.
  • USPS Priority Mail: There are no pricing updates at this time.

-------------

Above is a copy/paste of eBay's announcement for rate changes coming on Sunday.

Instead of standard and rural rates, there will now be standard plus 3 geo-based tiers for Ground Advantage packages for a total of 4 potential rate tiers for each zone.

Priority is unchanged with 2 rate tiers: standard and rural.

eBay seller says he’s keeping my money and refusing to send the cards I bought

• Upvotes

I bought two card lots from a seller on eBay. There was a $5 discount applied through eBay at checkout, and apparently the seller got mad about it afterward.
I told him I wasn’t trying to screw him over and even said he could just cancel the orders and relist them if he didn’t want to go through with the sale.
Instead, he straight up told me he’s keeping my money and that I’m not getting the cards. He also said, “These cards aren’t yours thanks for your $25.”
I’ve already reported him to eBay and saved screenshots of everything. I’m waiting until I’m able to file Item Not Received claims if he doesn’t cancel/refund the orders.
Has anyone dealt with something like this before? Is there anything else I should do besides reporting him and waiting to open the claims?

I didn’t authorize eBay to add an AI image into my listing. Did we all agree to new terms?

I was randomly checking my listings and noticed this ai generated image eBay added. I don’t remember accepting this image in my listing and I don’t see an option to not have it auto added in the future. Anyone experience this?

This has happened to me multiple times now and it’s starting to piss me off

This is at least the 3rd time this has happened to me, but the first time where they’ve already paid for the item. Do i cancel and select buyer requested? Do i have to initiate a refund? So frustrating because i had other bidders so now i just have to list again and wait another 7 days for the auction to run. It’s always the “my kid placed this bid” excuse too.

Question “Will you take $xx” messages

Anyone else getting loads of messages asking “Will you take $xx?”. Not insane lowball offers either.

Almost all mine have been from new user accounts with very low feedback score.

I have offers turned on on all these items.

Just seems weird that this has all started in the last few days.

Gotta love late night messages. Got offered $100 free shipping for almost 50 item order priced around $320.

Got the most egregious lowball offer I've ever received since I started eBay and I just couldn't help but laugh at the absurdity.

Someone who has lowballed me on offers in the past using the offer system sent me this message offering $100 shipped for almost 50 brand new and sealed DVDs (list contained multiple repeats) that I have listed price at a total of around $320 after a 15% discount.

The guy specifically mentioned the list was items priced at $3-4 a piece but tried sneaking in several items I had priced at $15-30 each thinking I wouldn't check or bother doing the math.

The lowball was already ridiculous, but wanting free shipping on a nearly 50 item order is just such a slap in the face that it feels like ragebait. Immediately got put into the block list.

Anyone else have stories of lowballs this bad?

how to best send high-value PSA-graded card to Authenticator

This'll be my first sale through Ebay so I wanted to cover my back and check all the corners. I just got a sale for a high-value Pokemon card ($4k USD) which I will now have to send to an authenticator (via Ebay's Authenticity Guarantee, since it's PSA graded) which will be forwarded to the end buyer. In order to cover my back, despite the Ebay horror stories I've been hearing:

  • What are best practices for packaging and mailing/insurance? I think sandwiching it between cardboard with rubber bands and in a mailer should be sufficient? (it's already PSA-graded, so in a slab)
  • What's the best option for mailing, tracking, and insurance? i.e. USPS, Fedex, UPS, and which service? Do I buy tracking and insurance for my listed value ($4k USD), and would I actually get that money back if it gets lost?
  • After reading stories of buyers falsely opening INADs or initiating returns, I wanted to clarify - am I in the clear after my item passes Authentication? What happens if theoretically a buyer initiates a return post-reception and after it's been authenticated?

My sales have absolutely tanked. Anyone else?

I’ve been in store front for almost 20 years and this is my first year doing online, started my LLC in January m. Long story short, end of August was great then it’s fallen off a cliff. I have been so slow on my website and eBay it’s insane.

Is this normal for Ecom? I mean, I was expecting a dip at the beginning of September when school started but we are well past that now

I hate ebay live and all the shitty AI images associated with it.

I really wish ebay would do some sort of opt out or way to hide all the live crap that pops up everytime I open the app. Is it a requirement that you have to have the shittiest A.I. generated logo in order to start an ebay live account? Personally I think it takes away from any feeling of authenticity the site had...which wasn't much.

Question Has anyone here ever bought something off of ebay while the seller was on vacation?

I want to buy something on ebay that I need, but the seller is currently on vacation. It says that once I purchased it there's going to be a delay because of this, but then I got curious. Has anyone here ever purchased an item off of ebay when the seller was on holiday, and what was that experience like? Did you receive the thing you ordered? Were there delays? Did you ever spoke with the seller? I just want to know what I'm getting into so I don't make a mistake that would cost me.

Inventory turnover

Hi, Im a new part-time seller and I have about 27k in inventory of miscellaneous items. I have about 4.5k/m income after ebay fees, taxes, shipping, renting the storage and buying the items (thats about 3k a month). Is this the average income for such an inventory, or do I need to optimize listings?

Question Buyer improperly packaged return leading to damage

I sold a computer on eBay, and the buyer claimed it wouldn't boot up when they got it. I suspected user error, so I made them return it instead of just issuing a refund.

The item arrived, and of course it powers on fine, but it now has a huge dent in it due to the buyer improperly packaging it for return.

Do I have any recourse, or am I just out the cost of the item and return shipping at this point?

Question Item sold - couldn’t deliver due to insufficient address.

Sold a small priced item. Total was around $30. Bought shipping label through eBay and shipped item. Item came back to me and usps marked it as insufficient address. Was contacted by a different eBay account that did not purchase the item and they stated they didn’t receive their order. I asked for the order number from them and they provided it but they are not the ones I show on the order.

Should I refund the order of the account had a bad address? I don’t care about the sell but don’t feel like I did anything wrong? They are claiming they only have one eBay account and it’s different than what I show on the order.

Any advice for ‘underpaid’ label charges? I’ve racked up $800 in the past week…

Long story short I sell golf club shafts.

Every one weighs around 60-85 grams.

I ship every one in a standard uline 4x4x48” box.

They typically weigh around 1.3-1.5 pounds or so at maximum when packed including protective
materials.

I always select 2 lbs 1 oz when creating a label, and size at exactly the 4x4x48 I’ve measured the outside dimensions at.

The pictures are pretty obvious here… someone help me out. What direction should I go?

First scale pic is without packing materials second is filled to the brim with packing cardboard.. which I never use that much of.

Never have had these issues with usps or fedex…

Auction for specific buyer

Years ago I have a vague memory of being able to set an auction for one specific user ( private but not just to hide the buyers name) and I'm wondering if this can still be done.

Trying to find answers on the site or get a live person is impossible anymore. Seems unnecessarily difficult.

Why do this as a seller?

I've been looking for a really specific style of vintage pendant on Ebay for ages. I'm really particular so it took me a while to find one, but when I did it was the DREAM pendant.

Bought it immediately, the seller sent it, it arrived within 2 days, perfect! Except I open my parcel and it isn't the pendant I ordered - it's a similar one that was still actively listed on their shop.

Easy mistake to make. I politely reached out to them and they were very apologetic, told me to return the parcel for a refund and they would send out my original order free of charge. I even thanked them for their offer but asked them to re-list the pendant and I would repurchase it then and there, but they reassured me that it wasn't necessary and they would post it out to me.

Long story short, they never posted it. They re-listed it a few weeks later. For the same price no less! Why give me false promises and turn down a guaranteed instant sale 🫠

Question eBay buyer wanting to return item

I sold a computer 4 bay DAS system on eBay. It's basically a hard drive controller. Sold it for $40, with eBay fees and taxes only got $22. That included a $17 USPS fee because it was around 9lbs.

The computer 4 Bay DAS I sold was tested before shipping. Sold as "used" and working condition. About three weeks later. Buyer claimed the item does not power on. I know the device fully worked. My options are to buy a return label for return or full or partially refund and the buyer keeps the item.

Since I know the item worked before shipping. I do not know if the item got damaged during shipping. I don't know if the item got damaged at his residence. Or if he is simply saying it doesn't power on to get a refund (abusing eBay money back guarantee).

If I buy the shipping label for around $17 (loss) and get an item that now doesn't work. It has no resale value anymore except for parts only. And I lose- lose here. If the item works upon inspection then the buyer just lied about it not powering on. But at least it has a resale value again.

Does anyone know what is best to do?

Question Stopped receiving saved search emails

I haven’t received saved search email updates for the last week despite them all being turned on. Ebay support isn’t much help either. Has anyone experienced this presently or in the past?

Question Need Advice for Order Returned to Sender (As a Seller)

Thumbnail gallery
3 Upvotes

I am a casual seller on eBay, and I have a package that was returned to sender because the buyer's address was not registered with the USPS (resulting in a "No Number Exists" reason).

I have the item back in my possession now.

I wanted to issue a refund of the list price only, but eBay's refund automatically splits between the purchase price and shipping. Additionally, the fee credits on the refund page were not the same as the fees I had to pay.

As the images show, my net earnings on the order were $36.89. $14.11 were paid in fees (thanks, eBay). On the refund page, only $7.41 in fee credits are applied, resulting in a loss of $6.70. To my understanding, if I cancel the order, I have to eat the loss of the shipping cost ($11.30).

eBay's customer support is absolute garbage. Cramming a useless AI chatbot down our throats and making it difficult to talk to a human. I managed to get on the phone eventually and the agent promised me that if I issued the $51 refund, "the rest of the fees will be credited after the refund is issued." I don't believe them and I fear that if I issue that partial refund, they will just take their cut and there's nothing I can do about it.

Even so, since the fee credits are pro-rated, I will still be at a loss since eBay charges fees on shipping.

What I SHOULD be able to do is refund the purchase price minus shipping and I receive ALL of the fees back. The buyer will take the loss on shipping because that was their responsibility. Myself and eBay will be net $0. I don't think that's inappropriate or too much to ask for. This just doesn't seem to be possible, though.

I am trying my best to help the buyer out because they are still interested in the item in question, but they have told me they will open a case instead because they refuse to take the loss on shipping. I'm not sure what seller protections there are since the item is in my possession again. If I cancel the order, I do not want to accept the $11.30 loss from shipping. I also shouldn't have to give up the fees taken out if I issue a refund because of eBay's corporate greed.

As the seller, I did nothing wrong. The buyer did not register their address with the USPS, yet I'm the one that's stressing.

What is the best course of action?

Question New EBay Gift Card Policy on 11/16/26

Hello - anyone else see this email/Ebay message?

Dear member,
As part of our commitment to keep eBay a safe and trusted marketplace, we’re updating our Gift Cards Policy. Beginning November 16th, 2026, gift cards will no longer be allowed for sale on eBay. You have 30 days to review and remove affected listings.

What are gift cards?
Gift cards are products that contain or represent stored monetary value that can be redeemed for goods or services. This includes physical and digital gift cards, prepaid payment products, Prepaid gaming cards and gaming-platform gift cards, store credit, gift certificates, and similar stored-value products.
Why is this change happening?
Following a review of gift card sales on the marketplace, we’re updating our policy to help reduce fraud and misuse involving gift cards.
What’s not allowed on eBay?
The following items will no longer be allowed to be sold:

Collectible, empty, used, unactivated, or expired gift cards

Digital gift cards and gift card codes

eBay gift cards

Gift certificates and monetary vouchers

Merchant and service gift cards

Open-loop and prepaid payment products

Prepaid gaming cards and gaming-platform gift cards

Store credit and merchandise-return value

What do you need to do?
Review your active listings for gift cards and other products covered by this policy.

Remove affected listings by November 16th, 2026.

Removing affected listings yourself, or removals completed by eBay during this transition period, won’t negatively affect your account’s policy compliance history. Listings that remain active after the transition period may result in policy compliance action.

Why does this matter?
These changes help protect buyers and sellers from fraud and support a safer, more trusted marketplace.

Question Does ebay hold payouts until all orders are delivered?

I have about 5 orders that I've recently shipped out. 2 of them have been delivered and ebay says the funds from those are available to me. I havent received any money deposited in my account. When i go to the tab for available funds, the amount is far less than what my payout should be, and it appears ebay is calculating shipping fees for the orders that haven't been delivered with my payout amounts so my "available" money is less.

Do they not do payout on a item basis? Why are all of my orders being group together?

(Update from a previous issue) Seller reshipped with a different service

Update from this post I made

So as people were telling me in the post, I did file the INR case on Oct 11. Since then, there was 0 (zero) communication from the seller. I asked them what Canada Post told them the issue was, and if they got the tracking # from them (for the original shipping service). This was before I filed the INR. I put my resolution as refund as I grew a bit concerned for the money I spent and I felt the shipping as become a hassle.

Today, they responded to the case simply saying they have reshipped the item. I noticed that the shipping service is now different. The original service I paid for was Canada Post Regular Parcel, which was $70 for me. The new service is Canada Post Local.

I'm honestly just annoyed now that I paid that much for shipping only for it to end up a different service now. It could have been cheaper for me.

Is there anything I can do about this? I let the seller know that I did not agree to any reshipping with a different service, and that I have already paid $70 for what was on the original listing. The INR is still active fwiw.

Question Will I have any obligation to return an item after eBay sided with me and the seller hasn’t responded to requests for label and eBay refunded me?

Got an item that was broken in transit and also was not as described anyway. Very large item, huge cardboard box.

It’s been two weeks now. I’d like to throw out the massive cardboard box it was shipped in with my recycling service tomorrow. Tired of looking at it.
