28 year old male American. I’ve done the research on what it takes to move, but I want to know about the daily life. pros cons, what to expect, what to prepare for.

I don’t want to live in touristy area. I want to have a piece of land, garden, find peace. I’d come with money but I’d need to make more money eventually. Is there anything unique an American can offer? Considering becoming a tourist worker/guide with my connections in the USA. But yea idk, that’s just a thought not necessarily something I want to do.

I’d be interested in just talking with a local if anyone wants to connect.

My fiance is trying to pull his Dominica police certificate of character from abroad. We had to call 4 separate times to get complete information and confirm what documents/fees we needed to include and where exactly to send it. We sent the package in 4 weeks ago and have heard nothing.

It shows that the package was signed for at the police headquarters but when we ask to speak to that person or anyone who can at least let us know if the process is started, we get nowhere. Last time, my fiance had to keep repeating himself and when he spoke louder so they could hear him, the woman told him he was yelling, hung up on him and didn't answer the phone the entire rest of the day. They had requested $50 was put in the package for a stamp, but now it kind of looks like someone rather had a lunch on my dollar.

Flying to do it in person is going to cost an ungodly amount of money and he doesn't want to be stuck there with an unknown processing time yet.

Has anyone hired a lawyer to assist with similar things? Any other ideas? It's a simple document that really shouldn't be this difficult to obtain. St Lucia was sent the same time and has been done for weeks already.

Based on your experience, do you think it would be possible to purchase the ticket last minute , “cash only” or onsite ?

I am a 29 F. I will be visiting dominica and have couple of questions regarding my travels. I am visiting from Barbados.

I have extensively traveled and hiked around the world. I also ride scooters/motorbikes. I am visiting in august. I am trying to make a decision between hiring a scooter or a car for my visit. I dont see much of a difference in the rates online which is quite interesting.

I am planning to stay in trafalgar area so most of the hikes are at a fairly reachable distance I believe. Is it easy to get local transport in that area if i choose to not hire a vehicle? I really like to travel the local way and take buses etc. But I will like to know if the hike starts are reachable by local transports?

I will also like to know about off the beaten paths and hikes that are beautiful but lesser known to people, some coffee farms and ways to connect with the locals.

Any suggestion is welcome.

Want to spend a couple weeks in Dominica and thought I could through hike Waitukubuli. I am planning on going around November. Is this even possible right now? Also I saw someone say that you definitely need a guide but I can’t afford one and I see a lot of people do it solo, so is it chill enough to do alone?

Also places to stay along the route. Free camping would be cool but I see that’s not possible the whole way. Are there places to get a room in between the segments?

Hello! Looking to travel to Dominica in October. Do folks recommend an Airbnb or to stay in a hotel/resort? I do enjoy some parts of my trip being taken care for me like with a resort but I'm not someone who likes to sit around a hotel or resort and I will definitely want to get out every day and explore the island. So I'm just wondering what people's experiences have been and where people have stayed. I'm also wondering if it's worth it to get a rental car or to use a driver? I'm seeing people writing about the winding roads with steep drop offs, but I have driven all over St. Lucia and Grenada, which was quite scary, but I think the experience was so much richer by having my own transportation and being able to really get around and explore so just wondering would Dominique be comparable to driving in Grenada or St. Lucia? Hey Everyone, I'll be traveling to the three islands for work in April. Ill be in town for 2 weekends and almost 2 weeks. I live in the US, East Coast. I have lived in the Middle East for a few years, but have not been to the Caribbean before. Any tips for me? Cultural things to know, foods/medicines to bring, cash vs credit card, etc? We are being provided hotels and drivers, but I am not sure about food. We will be working Monday through Friday at client sites, but free on weekends. Any good tips for non local workers to do on weekends? Is there anything I can bring from the US that people on your islands may need? Medicine, supplies, etc?

I just adore Dominica! I think it's one of the most incredible places on the planet. Here's my tribute to that wild beauty.

I would like to visit Dominica in April. From the 6th to the 11th, Easter holiday stretch. I have traveled to another Caribbean country at that same time last year and was not aware that many businesses, groceries, attractions would have been closed for the holidays because of Easter.

Is Dominica the same with respect to this? Are there any Easter festivals that you would recommend for a first timer to Dominica? Any assistance would be great. Very excited to visit.
