Dispute Help What are the odds of getting this 1 star review removed?

Post image

So, I sold this little Tokyo Disney Resort exclusive keychain to someone for $19. Originally I had it listed for $23 because on other platforms such as Mercari, that is the going rate (and even more on ebay). I've even sold like 10+ keychains on Mercari for more with no issue. Anyway, I accepted her offer because she messaged that she really liked it and was hoping I could do $19, so I was like sure! Anyway, she left this review and it's just really disheartening because that's what they sell for everywhere else and I had to go to Japan to get them 😭 they're not available online outside of Japan, just at the resort or inside the park depending on which ones you get.

Misc. First upset potential buyer

I had the item listed at $15 and discounted it to $5. This person offered $3 and $4 which I denied both. I'm really confused here lol EDIT: Thanks to all the responses so far! As someone new to selling on Depop, I appreciate the insight! Seems like the best move is to report both accounts to Depop, which I've already done. I also blocked both accounts and refunded the order.

Story It’s always the smell 🫩

This isn’t that serious just more of a rant but I’m tired of people docking off stars over a smell I have no control over, as do others. I wash everything no extra scents either as I know how that’s also such a big issue with people as well. I’m just so over it like what am I even supposed to about that? 😭 this goes with any other issues that are out of my control once it leaves my hands there isn’t much I can do expect refund if the post office damaged or ruined the order.

I’ve been selling for a few months and finally got my first delulu message. The buyer asked to have me take way less $ for the top, as well as take payment off of depop. They even offered me a certain amount then asked for me to take less 😂 i wouldn’t accept any offer this type of person would give. I responded short and direct…thought about messing with them but it just isn’t worth the time!! Honestly gave me a good laugh. Reported and blocked. Good luck selling (and buying) out there! ✨

Misc. Is this allowed? Should I report?

So this was a few weeks ago. But a seller had their prices super low. Like most items were 90% off. But they were on vacation mode. Ok, fine, maybe they're actually on vacation. I asked about an item and they mentioned that the item was not being for the current listed price and their shop was like that so they could get more engagement. So, like, should I report this or is this something that's allowed?

Question Should I ship my sale to this person?

Post image
23 Upvotes

I sold a $230 purse to this person after they sent two offers and I accepted a counter offer. I’ve packed the item up and was getting ready to ship it when I decided to read their reviews and found this.

Obviously this gives me pause! However, the buyer has 80+ reviews and this is the only negative one with any mention of scamming. The rest are 5 stars. The other factor is that the person who left this negative review is also an active seller with 300+ reviews and a 5 star rating. What would you do in this situation? Currently planning to reopen my package and get pictures of the bag in the packaging so I have proof in case the buyer tries something.

Misc. Analytics should be free

Every other resale site I have used shows me more analytics than depop ever does. Why wouldn't you want your sellers to have that info?! Why do we have to boost and pay a 12% fee just to see that stuff?!
As a top seller who doesn't use boost, it can be very frustrating to not even be able to see recently sold comps.

Buying Help Tired of people selling used stuff and labelling them as “Brand New”

This is the second time I bought "a brand new" clothing from Depop, and the second time an item arrived with a stain or used. When I confront them, it’s always "The stain wasn’t there when I shipped the item." "Everyone does it on Depop."

Can we collectively report listings that are inaccurate? No tags - it’s most likely not brand new.

Misc. Do people actually not scroll through the pictures and only look at the thumbnail alone?

I’ve been selling them a platform for years, but I keep getting messages about sizes or measurements when it’s already been provided in the description and in pictures and it leads me to a conclusion do buyers just not scroll through the pictures because when I personally buy something on any platform. I scroll through all the pictures I looked through the whole description. I just don’t know.

Selling Help Advice needed on a return request from buyer

Post image
13 Upvotes

I sold a pair of leather riding boots that were wide calf and listed/described/pictured as such. The buyer just raised an issue saying the “item was not as described”. I reached out to her for additional details, and her response is that she didn’t know SHE WASN’T a wide calf and they look “terrible”. She wants to return. Clearly, it is not my issue as the seller, as I described them correctly. I have never had a request to return. I want to avoid a negative review which I worry would be the result of me declining, but also don’t want to deal with a return/possible issues there when I have no fault? Advice?

Buying Help Sellers who don't ship.

I'm relatively new to buying on depop and I've had several issues with sellers who don't even bother to ship or respond to messages. I end up having to wait and then eventually getting a refund. I'm wondering if there's any type of repercussions when sellers do this or if they're just allowed to continue without any consequences.

Story I put too much trust into other sellers

for context , I started to sell on depop about a month ago. whenever I get a sale , I try to ship it same day or next day. I looked at the website and thought to myself : hey, I should probably buy a thing or two here to see what the buyers experience looks like.

I bought three things

1). pair of jeans

2). shirt 1

3). shirt 2

the pair of jeans came in quite quickly and they're the cutest jeans I have ever seen. problem is that they don't fit me , but that's my fault for not understanding jean sizes. I'm planning to repop them soon. my main gripe is with the shirts.

shirt 1 hasn't shipped out my order , we are on day 9. I texted the seller to ask them about it , and they explained that they were at an event and were MIA for a while. i get that , but i would have loved to have been informed beforehand. I was also told they'd ship out that same day , but it's been two days since I asked them about it. if it isn't shipped by tomorrow, would it be fair to give them a 2-3 star review for lack of shipping + lack of communication?

shirt 2 was running on 5 days after purchase and I hadn't received any information on them or my package. so , I go ahead and text the seller to confirm when they'd ship. they said they would ship today , which they did. But , apparently they sent the wrong shirt. im waiting for it to arrive and get a refund and hopefully return the wrong item back to the seller if that is an option. they mentioned that they would relist the item so i could repurchase it so i can get my item , but I don't think i'll bother.

maybe im just being too hasty , but the lack of communication is really frustrating me. whenever I have something happen where I can't ship an item in a timely manner , I will always make sure to keep my buyers informed.

TLDR; i sell and bought things on depop for the buyer experience. two of my three sellers are / were considerably late to ship without informing me why , which i deem unprofessional. now , I think I'll spend my money elsewhere.

Story Well this is lame…

I’m pretty new to Depop… it’s been pretty cool with the exception of flakey sellers either not communicating at all and never shipping the item, or not even having the item they’re selling.
I ran in to something that seemed really shady yesterday. I found a hoodie that I really wanted. The price was great. I made an offer that was really close to the asking price… he wanted $11.50 and I offered and even $10. So, he declines my offer and sends me a message saying that he’s been on vacation and while he was away, he drastically reduced the prices of his items to “get more exposure”. He changed the price of the hoodie to $80, and offered to make me a deal… maybe half off, which is still a hell of a lot more than what he was advertising it at. This seems like a shitty practice… can they do that? It’s gross if that is allowed. It left a really bad taste in my mouth. Anyone else seen this?

Misc. Some sellers have lost their minds.

Sellers listing items from Romwe and SHEIN for $30????? Those sites don’t even sell their clothes at that high of a price point. Meanwhile I have name brand clothes listed for under $20 (as Depop suggested pricing) and people want to low ball and be cheap. What is happening on this app? 😭

Positive Experiences Positive experience as a buyers

Not sure why this sub kept popping up on my feed with so many negative experiences from both (and Depop ads are everywhere). I just want to add my positive experience as a buyer to the pot.

The positive: I bought about 10 items so far. 4 leather handbags and they're all lovely, and very well-priced ($15-25 each before shipping). I enjoy cleaning and moisturizing them, so satisfying. The rest are dance tights (new in box), leotards (like new?), a workout set and a renfaire dress. All are below $10. I usually heart the items and keep browsing, and the sellers usually offer a 10-20% discount. Most of the sellers ship within a week, the handbags I got free stickers and thank you notes (very sweet of them).

The slightly negative: I have two not shipping and got refunded promptly.

The future: I'm looking to declutter my closet. Since I'm not a professional reseller, thinking of pricing my pieces low (under $10) and offering bundles? This is what I don't get about the complaints. You bought an item for $100 doesn't mean that someone will buy it for even $80. Sure hagglers and lowballers are annoying, but it's the same for Marketplace or other platforms. You can drop it off for free at Goodwill or sell it for pennies at consignment/thrift store. The economy is a hot mess and no one can afford a $25 used T-shirt (at least I don't). End of rant

Selling Help USPS delayed scanning my packages HELP!

Hey everyone, needing some quick advice!

I’m a seller on Depop and have recently been super busy moving apartments and starting a big project at work. I dropped off 5 orders at the post office a few days ago. Because I print my own labels at home, I usually just do what I've always done: walk in, place the packages on the counter, the clerk says "you're all set," and I walk out. Normally, they get scanned in that same day or the next.

However, 2 of these packages are now hitting day 9 since purchase, and the tracking on Depop hasn't updated to show they were scanned. Since USPS already has them in their possession, I’m really worried that:

  1. Depop will auto-cancel the orders on Day 10 or refund the buyers.

  2. The items will end up being delivered anyway, meaning I lose both the items and my earnings.

My questions:

  1. Is there a specific way to contact Depop Support right now to let them know the packages are already dropped off so they don't auto-cancel?

  2. Has anyone had success getting an agent to pause auto-cancellation or manually update the status when USPS is slow to scan?

  3. What should I tell the buyers in the meantime?

Any advice on how to handle this or get in touch with support ASAP would be greatly appreciated as tomorrow they hit day 10!!

Selling Help Selling - balance issues

Hi! I’m pretty new to selling on Depop, but have been selling on apps for 10+ years. I have three items I sold and shipped on Oct 2, delivered Oct 7, and still don’t have my balance available. Is this normal?

Dispute Help Has anyone dealt with something like this before? How did/would you handle it?

Hi everyone! I’m kind of new to selling on Depop. I’ve now sold 30 items and this is the first issue I’ve run into.

I listed a brand new pair of doc marten shoes (literally never worn, and the original MSRP was $190). I listed them for $85, but ended up selling them to a buyer for $73. They purchased on Oct 9th and I shipped them out the same day, along with a few other orders (all of which were delivered with no issue).

I got the notification it was delivered on Oct 13th, but they filed a dispute the next day saying they didn’t get it and now want a refund. Idk, I just get a weird feeling from this. Like, of course it had to be a BRAND NEW pair of docs. I also checked their profile after they filed a dispute, and they have zero seller reviews. Only 2 reviews from people that bought something from them. I also just find it weird that they would wait over a day to file a claim, but maybe that’s just me.

I responded to their claim right away and messaged them, but they haven’t responded to the dispute or my DM. This is also giving me a weird feeling about the whole thing. Now, my funds for this sale are frozen, and I might be out a pair of brand new docs (that i def could have sold for more). I’d be more than happy to refund them if I could get them back lol.

Maybe they are being honest, but this whole situation has me upset and frustrated. Especially because this would be the fault of USPS if true. Has anyone else dealt with something like this? If so, how did you go about it?

I have half a mind to contact USPS myself and contact their apartment complex to see if there is any way to prove whether or not it was delivered.

I’ve also seen this issue about items being delivered to a “parcel locker” on the USPS tracker, but they actually weren’t. Or that they were delivered to a parcel locker even though the buyer lived at a house with a regular mailbox or front porch. However, they usually still ended up getting their packages with 1-2 days after their delivery notification.

I’ve been selling on eBay and Mercari for a few months, and I’ve never dealt with something like this. Maybe I’m doing too much lol, I’m sure yall will let me know. Thank you for reading and for any advice you might have!

depop just removed alll of my listings for being “counterfeit” and i don’t know why as all of my listings have the correct brand listed along with the tag? most of them are repops so I have no way to provide the “original receipt” and i already posted close up shots of the logo and labels. the top 2 items i already sold MONTHS ago and i have no idea why those were also removed😭 has this happened to anyone else? what do i do?

Positive Experiences Just started Depop and having a lot of fun

I started selling on depop when shipping was free. I have to say.... It's really fun! I am a chronic clothing hoarder. I have a hard time donating things, I always think that I should just keep it so it doesn't go in the landfill.

Lately I have been finding things in my closet I don't wear and listing them on depop for $5 or less. The dopamine of getting a few likes and eventually getting an order is enough to keep me at it. My closet is finally getting cleaned out! I've only made like $30 and I'll probably never turn this into a side hustle. But I also wish I'd started sooner. This is my first online selling experience so I can't say if it's better or worse than other apps.

Selling Help Received a violation warning message

Post image
• Upvotes

Anyone ever get one of these? I was chatting with a potential buyer and we're amicably negotiating... they ask me what would be a reasonable offer and i reply, "Shoot your shot" 🤣 not thinking that it could be taken as sexual in nature. I think I meant "Shoot me a number" but it's late, I'm trying to make one last sale for the night... The buyer made a reasonable offer / I accepted. Then received this notice. Is there no way to get further info as to what verbiage actually violated community policies? I regularly engage with buyers and have great reviews. Should I be worried of getting suspended?

Buying Help Incorrectly Listed as Multiples

Hello again! So there have been a few times that I’ve purchased something and then noticed they were still on sale. Based on the description I messaged and was like “Hey, how many do you have available?”. A few times the seller was like “oh thanks, blah blah, didn’t realize it was wrong” you know, potentially saving them from the headache of someone else buying it and then them not having the product anymore. Well a couple days ago I bought a vintage halloween bucket and noticed the listing was still active. I messaged her asking my usual question and she confirmed she only had one. I told her that it was still active and she essentially blew me off. She was like “Well I’m out of town, I’m gonna ask my daughter”. Should I reach out to depop or just not bother?
