Selling Help Received a violation warning message

Post image
• Upvotes

Anyone ever get one of these? I was chatting with a potential buyer and we're amicably negotiating... they ask me what would be a reasonable offer and i reply, "Shoot your shot" 🤣 not thinking that it could be taken as sexual in nature. I think I meant "Shoot me a number" but it's late, I'm trying to make one last sale for the night... The buyer made a reasonable offer / I accepted. Then received this notice. Is there no way to get further info as to what verbiage actually violated community policies? I regularly engage with buyers and have great reviews. Should I be worried of getting suspended?

Misc. Analytics should be free

Every other resale site I have used shows me more analytics than depop ever does. Why wouldn't you want your sellers to have that info?! Why do we have to boost and pay a 12% fee just to see that stuff?!
As a top seller who doesn't use boost, it can be very frustrating to not even be able to see recently sold comps.

Misc. Really stupid depop nitpick

Why can’t you log in with email and password on the website?? I was trying to login but it sends a link to your email which you have to click to login

I’m not signed into my depop email on my computer

Not that big of a deal but super annoying, why can’t there just be a password option?

Positive Experiences Positive experience as a buyers

Not sure why this sub kept popping up on my feed with so many negative experiences from both (and Depop ads are everywhere). I just want to add my positive experience as a buyer to the pot.

The positive: I bought about 10 items so far. 4 leather handbags and they're all lovely, and very well-priced ($15-25 each before shipping). I enjoy cleaning and moisturizing them, so satisfying. The rest are dance tights (new in box), leotards (like new?), a workout set and a renfaire dress. All are below $10. I usually heart the items and keep browsing, and the sellers usually offer a 10-20% discount. Most of the sellers ship within a week, the handbags I got free stickers and thank you notes (very sweet of them).

The slightly negative: I have two not shipping and got refunded promptly.

The future: I'm looking to declutter my closet. Since I'm not a professional reseller, thinking of pricing my pieces low (under $10) and offering bundles? This is what I don't get about the complaints. You bought an item for $100 doesn't mean that someone will buy it for even $80. Sure hagglers and lowballers are annoying, but it's the same for Marketplace or other platforms. You can drop it off for free at Goodwill or sell it for pennies at consignment/thrift store. The economy is a hot mess and no one can afford a $25 used T-shirt (at least I don't). End of rant

Selling Help What do I do about this?

I don’t understand why people do this. I haven’t had this happen to me before. Do I refund without asking why, not refund, or ask the reason for the refund? I’m so annoyed.

Selling Help Advice needed on a return request from buyer

Post image
12 Upvotes

I sold a pair of leather riding boots that were wide calf and listed/described/pictured as such. The buyer just raised an issue saying the “item was not as described”. I reached out to her for additional details, and her response is that she didn’t know SHE WASN’T a wide calf and they look “terrible”. She wants to return. Clearly, it is not my issue as the seller, as I described them correctly. I have never had a request to return. I want to avoid a negative review which I worry would be the result of me declining, but also don’t want to deal with a return/possible issues there when I have no fault? Advice?

Question Should I ship my sale to this person?

Post image
24 Upvotes

I sold a $230 purse to this person after they sent two offers and I accepted a counter offer. I’ve packed the item up and was getting ready to ship it when I decided to read their reviews and found this.

Obviously this gives me pause! However, the buyer has 80+ reviews and this is the only negative one with any mention of scamming. The rest are 5 stars. The other factor is that the person who left this negative review is also an active seller with 300+ reviews and a 5 star rating. What would you do in this situation? Currently planning to reopen my package and get pictures of the bag in the packaging so I have proof in case the buyer tries something.

Buying Help Incorrectly Listed as Multiples

Hello again! So there have been a few times that I’ve purchased something and then noticed they were still on sale. Based on the description I messaged and was like “Hey, how many do you have available?”. A few times the seller was like “oh thanks, blah blah, didn’t realize it was wrong” you know, potentially saving them from the headache of someone else buying it and then them not having the product anymore. Well a couple days ago I bought a vintage halloween bucket and noticed the listing was still active. I messaged her asking my usual question and she confirmed she only had one. I told her that it was still active and she essentially blew me off. She was like “Well I’m out of town, I’m gonna ask my daughter”. Should I reach out to depop or just not bother?

Story It’s always the smell 🫩

Post image
42 Upvotes

This isn’t that serious just more of a rant but I’m tired of people docking off stars over a smell I have no control over, as do others. I wash everything no extra scents either as I know how that’s also such a big issue with people as well. I’m just so over it like what am I even supposed to about that? 😭 this goes with any other issues that are out of my control once it leaves my hands there isn’t much I can do expect refund if the post office damaged or ruined the order.

Selling Help USPS delayed scanning my packages HELP!

Hey everyone, needing some quick advice!

I’m a seller on Depop and have recently been super busy moving apartments and starting a big project at work. I dropped off 5 orders at the post office a few days ago. Because I print my own labels at home, I usually just do what I've always done: walk in, place the packages on the counter, the clerk says "you're all set," and I walk out. Normally, they get scanned in that same day or the next.

However, 2 of these packages are now hitting day 9 since purchase, and the tracking on Depop hasn't updated to show they were scanned. Since USPS already has them in their possession, I’m really worried that:

  1. Depop will auto-cancel the orders on Day 10 or refund the buyers.

  2. The items will end up being delivered anyway, meaning I lose both the items and my earnings.

My questions:

  1. Is there a specific way to contact Depop Support right now to let them know the packages are already dropped off so they don't auto-cancel?

  2. Has anyone had success getting an agent to pause auto-cancellation or manually update the status when USPS is slow to scan?

  3. What should I tell the buyers in the meantime?

Any advice on how to handle this or get in touch with support ASAP would be greatly appreciated as tomorrow they hit day 10!!

App Issues/Help Depop glitches the last few weeks.

for the last 2-3 weeks, i have been experiencing a ton of glitches, for example, every single day when i wake up i send offers to people that have liked my items usually with a message along the lines of ‘i can ship today, let me know :)’ well for the last week, it’s barely even letting me send out offers, and by the rare chance it does, when i click ‘message buyer’ nothing happens, so i can’t even message the interested buyer. it’s definitely hindering my ability to make sales throughout the day as people are more likely to buy if they see your message that you can ship today. i tried logging out, deleting and re installing, and it still hasn’t changed anything. anyone else experiencing this?

Buying Help refund after an item has been returned to seller???

Post image
0 Upvotes

i mistyped my address on a depop order 2 weeks ago and it was just sent back to the seller a few days ago. i asked the buyer about a refund and they said that they cannot issue one themself because the item has already shipped, and that depop will refund me instead — is this true…???
depop marked the order as arrived & complete (which obviously isn’t true bc the seller has the item rn) so i believe that the seller has already been paid, especially bc they specifically waited 5 days to msg me about re-purchasing. does depop actually do automatic refunds for issues like this, even if the app thinks the order has been completed?? or should i just file a dispute to ensure an actual refund (also bc this buyer is literally just trying to get my money twice) i’m rlly confused and half-asleep rn so i’m sorry if i sound like a dumbass 😭😭😭

the image is what the buyer told me when i inquired about a refund & subsequent re-purchase

edit: the issue has already been resolved! apologies for this nonsensical post, i have no idea what i was thinking when i posted this

Question Why does all Depop clothing smell like the same abandoned basement?

Why does every Depop seller’s clothing smell EXACTLY the same 😭 I’ve bought from 50+ shops across the country and somehow everything has that identical musty thrift store smell. I even bought a jacket from a seller who claimed it belonged to their great-grandfather in the 70s and it smelled the same as jeans I bought from someone else. Do you guys all share a storage unit or WHAT is that smell?? Genuinely trying to figure out if it’s a brand of detergent or a storage chemical.

Selling Help New QR code labels not working

Is anyone else having problems scanning the drop-off QR code labels? I have been to two locations in which I have shipped orders before and it seems since they have updated their QR code. It is not being able to scan and they have removed the label broker ID, which was previously on their QR code image now the QR code is larger and there is no number so it is really frustrating. Does anyone have any experience or tips because now I guess I’m gonna have to print my labels at home when I do not have a printer, so it was always easier for me just to scan them.

App Issues/Help Like Button Missing on the App

Post image
1 Upvotes

I downloaded Depop a week or two ago and noticed that there is no like button on any item I click on. Whenever I’m on an item, the only buttons I see are the top three dots in the upper right corner and the scissor clip in the bottom right corner for making outfits. I’ve tried logging out and re-logging back in and I’ve also deleted the app and re-downloaded the app. The app is at the newest update.

It’s really annoying, not being able to like items. Any tips?

Misc. First upset potential buyer

Post image

I had the item listed at $15 and discounted it to $5. This person offered $3 and $4 which I denied both. I'm really confused here lol EDIT: Thanks to all the responses so far! As someone new to selling on Depop, I appreciate the insight! Seems like the best move is to report both accounts to Depop, which I've already done. I also blocked both accounts and refunded the order.

Selling Help How to know if a scammer is buying from me

Post image
1 Upvotes

I’m a new seller on Depop and this guy wants to buy an expensive shoe item of mine. He offered me $67, but I declined thinking he was a scammer (67, yk) but offered $72 after I declined it.

My concerns: they joined two years ago but have no reviews. They follow one person that they bought from and left them a review, but I’m not sure if they knew them personally (maybe I’m just overthinking). I’ve heard a lot of stories of buyers scamming sellers and just want reassurance or advice!

Messages/DM's Sorry Honey Brat Summer is OVER

Post image

I’ve been selling for a few months and finally got my first delulu message. The buyer asked to have me take way less $ for the top, as well as take payment off of depop. They even offered me a certain amount then asked for me to take less 😂 i wouldn’t accept any offer this type of person would give. I responded short and direct…thought about messing with them but it just isn’t worth the time!! Honestly gave me a good laugh. Reported and blocked. Good luck selling (and buying) out there! ✨
