News Delaware Department of Elections received letter with white powder today (10/15)

From their FB page:

Today, October 15, 2026 at approximately 2:00 p.m., the Delaware Department of Elections (DOE) received and opened a letter which was discovered to contain a white powdery substance. Staff members followed security and USPS postal instructions on handling suspicious mail. The mail piece was isolated, staff members were decontaminated and evacuated, HVAC system was shut down, and law enforcement, state and federal partners have arrived at the office and are conducting the investigation and testing.

All election offices statewide have sent their non-essential state employees home in an abundance of caution.

Additional information will be provided to the public as the response continues.

Over 60,000 trees have been planted in the last three decades. This reforestation partnership with Delaware Nature Society has resulted in over 107 acres of former agricultural fields surrounding the original Middle Run forest converted into new, young forest.

Middle Run Natural Area is the largest of the Countyโ€™s 251 parks and parcels, measuring 890 acres that stretch from Paper Mill Road, to Polly Drummond Hill Road, to Possum Park Road, nearly reaching Kirkwood Highway. Hikers and bikers enjoy the 17 dirt trails that wind through 15 miles of property. Birders appreciate the 227 different types of birds that frequent the area, along with white-tailed deer, rabbits, raccoons, red foxes, and turtles.

Rant Christana Care

Has anyone had trouble trying to reach Christiana Care PCP?

Nobody answers the phone

Their portal is down

You cannot leave a voicemail because the voicemail is FULL

like do they seriously think itโ€™s good medical care to not ever have anyone answering the phones OR clearing odd voicemails?

Healthcare in Delaware SUCKS.

Recently my boyfriend visited me, and had his birthday here in Arizona. While he was here on Sep. 23 his cat went missing in Delaware. Has anyone seen a cat similar to this? She's female, skiddish, not aggressive. Any help is helpful! Especially about shelters that are kind of near northern Wilmington

I'm one of the speakers at the New Trends in End-of-Life Care, to be held Saturday, Nov. 14 in Georgetown, DE. There are CME credits for health care professionals too.

Liminal Shores End of Life Collective, a newly formed nonprofit group of end-of-life doulas and caregivers serving Sussex County, has been awarded a $5,000 grant from Compassion & Choices, the nation's leading end-of-life choice organization.

The grant will fund an educational event, New Trends in End-of-Life Care, to be held Saturday, Nov. 14, at Delaware Techโ€™s Georgetown campus. This is a donation-based event and will offer a catered lunch. It is open to the public and the healthcare community with continuing education credits available.

Topics of discussion and presenters will include Medical Aid in Dying and VSED for Residents with Dementia by Dr. Robert Varipapa; Legal Issues and Importance of Preplanning by Lori Selsberg, JD; Death and Sustainability by Linda Gould, death doula; Updates in Palliative Care by Theresa Latorre-Tegtmeier, DNP, APRN; Use of Psychedelics in Symptom Control and Therapy by Dr. Katherine Elder; and Grief at the End of Life by Joseph Anastasio, LCSW.ย  Learn more atย liminal-shores.com.

Self Promotion Looking for a plumbing job

I am currently enrolled at Delaware skill center and am looking for my first plumbing job. The program ends on NOV 10th and part of the requirements is that you get a plumbing job in Delaware. I have plenty of experience in flooring but I wanted to switch careers and have very few connections in the plumbing field. If anyone has any leads or advice please feel free to DM/respond thank you so much.
