Question Good butter?

What are some good, safe butter brands you use? Still a learning celiac and trying to get a handle on things. I have schnucks, walmart n dierbergs to work with, if that helps. Possibly target. Unfortunately, the anxiety disorder hates new things so anything verifiably safe would be great

Real butter has 1-2 ingredients. Cream and maybe salt. Any brand is fine.

I don't think you'll find any butter that contains gluten. It's just butter.

No one is getting “glutened” by regular ass butter.

When we go to the grandparents house or a friends house we’ve asked for gluten free butter and it usually confuses them. But we’re referring to butter that has been used with a knife that has touched gluten.

Well yes, but you’re also fully aware that your exposure is due to bread crumbs and shared knives, not the butter itself

Unless it’s a weird specialty flavored butter you should be fine

I am quite vigilant and I have never once worried about butter. I can't even imagine how it could become cross contaminated never mind why any butter would have a gluten-containing ingredient in it.

It's all the same. Like all the butter is made by a handful of companies. Land o lakes makes the Walmart brand butter sonic with many others. If you look at the stick wrapper (inside the cardboard) they are almost all identical because they are made in the same place by the same people.

Kerrygold is the way!

The only conceivable issue could be flavored butter. Plain butter should be fine. Just don't share with gluten eaters!

Cross contamination w butter manufacturing can be an issue it happened to me once. But is probably super rare

Dairies don’t manufacture gluten products

Not entirely true. A lot of companies and especially smaller companies can outsource production to facilities that also manufacture gluten products. I didn’t think it was true but I called the dairy company and told me they used wheat in their facility and there was a risk of cross contact

It’s pretty low risk for most dairy products but still it’s not impossible

store-brand butter has never done me dirty. i’m pretty strict but for single ingredient dairy products i don’t usually worry about a GF label

Just regular old butter.

I’ve never had an issue with any butter I’ve used. I regularly use target brand, Kirkland, Trader Joe’s and kerrygold.

I use Cabot butter. I messaged their company (albeit years ago now) and none of their plain cheeses or butter are made on shared equipment

land o lakes sticks have never done me wrong, the salted one is my go-to

They even say on their website that they are gluten free:

I prefer Tillamook extra creamy salted butter. Never had an issue with them, it’s my favorite melted over popcorn, and I’ve toured their facility and know it’s safe.

I make my own. It’s easy and less expensive than bought with no additives, except some salt.

OP isn’t crazy I was getting mysteriously sick in 2024 and it turns out the butter I was using was processed on a line with wheat. I believe the brand was maple hill. I just switched to Cabot / kerrygold after that and use
