I always wrote these cameras off as total junk for a few reasons. Limitations of floppy disks, size of the camera, ridiculously poor image quality, poor reliability, etc. Then I saw one at the thrift for 5 bucks and couldn't say no. I hate to say it, but I'm really enjoying using it. The photos are bad. And usually not "bad in a good way". It's really challenging to get something even halfway decent out of it. But the experience of using it is just more fun than I expected so I wanted to share. If you already have access to floppy disks and the means to read/write them and you find a good deal on a mavica, give it a chance!

So I’ve bought an EF70-200 f2.8 II for an upcoming vacation.
Received a copy supposedly in „excellent“ condition yesterday. From the outside it was, yet turned out to be a complete lemon. Completely blurry pictures. Okay, one-off issues can happen.
Returned and bought another copy that I received today.
While it’s sharp, it’s clearly not in an „excellent“ condition, but quite well used. The thread of the lens collar is broken, making the collar useless.
I’ve called and first they were quite helpful, at least wanting to refund me the difference from excellent to the appropriate category. Now they’ve emailed me and said that the issue was with DHL delivering.
Really angry with them right now - what have your experiences been with MPB?

Has anyone tried using a modern compact flash like the Godox iT30 Pro or iT32 on an older digicam?

I'm planning to buy one for my Canon G10, but I'm not sure if it will work properly with the camera's hot shoe.

I'm mainly wondering if it will fire correctly and whether basic flash functionality works, even without TTL.

If you've tried either of these flashes on an older Canon PowerShot or another vintage digital camera, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience

I am entirely overwhelmed trying to find a legit affordable digital camera. I don’t even know where to start. And when I do find one I like and check specs it’s like 200$. I am looking for something small with quality picture and video. Pink would be a super duper plus but I dont know. Is it worth it to import a pink y2k camera? If there’s an easier way I’d love to know. I picked the jelly star by unihertz til my light flip is delivered in may or whatever. So the camera is not good. Any tips at all would help before i over pay for something cute that’s not necessarily worth it.

Not sure if this is the thread for digital. Would love recommendations. Not looking to buy directly from this thread necessarily. Just don’t know where to start.

Looking to use it for biking, hiking, and shooting.
I was thinking a GoPro, but I’m hearing mixed opinions. Some people say they are still the king of action cameras, the mission 1 pro and hero 13 look really cool, but so do some of the DJI cameras. Looking to get some unbiased opinions since if I ask in the Dji or GoPro sub I’m probably going to get biased ones.

Ignore this I don’t need this i don’t know why it’s making me include this in my post

In this week's camera-collecting blog, discover the vintage Canon IV Sb, a classic 1950s 35mm rangefinder.

I explore its history, its Leica thread mount (LTM) lenses, share a short YouTube video, and share images I took with this wonderful, compact, and well-built camera.

Please take a few minutes to familiarize yourself with this gem of a camera at www.dancuny.com/camera-collecting-blog/2026/10/14/canon-iv-sb-camera

does anybody know why on earth Alphagvrd takes so damn long to ship??

I ordered a matching set for my body and lens on August 26, 2026, and got the body skin no problem. It is now October 15, 2026 and all they’ve done is created my label for the lens skin. what could possibly cause this?

and if you’re and Alphagvrd rep, lock tf in please

Currently have the back panel and metal support frame piece off, got electrically shocked and don’t know what to do, any insight would help, thanks

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right community to ask, but my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V won’t turn on, and I’d really appreciate some help!
I know very little about cameras, so please bear with me!
When I press the power button, the green light doesn’t turn on, and the camera doesn’t start. However, when I plug it into the charger, the green light briefly appears for a second before disappearing again.
I bought the camera secondhand about two years ago, and it’s been working fine until now. I haven’t used it in a while, so I’m wondering if the battery might be the problem or if it needs to be replaced.
I’m not sure how charging or replacing the battery works on this model, so any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

hey as the post states I need some advice on weather to get a Panasonic lumix or canon g2. I understand these are two completely different cameras to compare so any input and knowledge is appreciated. Im mainly looking for one to bring on backpacking trips or to the beach and just mess around with. i usually shoot film but prices are getting ridiculous so I’m looking for a digital to replace that with.

Factors im considering: price point, being able to transfer to my phone, picture quality, and something that’s gonna last

Holy shit, I'm thanking the thrift gods right now, my brother found a Sharp VL-C650 at a thrift store for 40$, WITH 2 batteries, the camera bag, and a VHS in it! If you have any info about this camera please lmk, I'm a beginner collector. Charging one of the batteries right now to see if it works.

edit: tried one battery and it didn't work so I got worried, tried the other one and the power light came on and then went off, I think I just need to let it charge for longer lol

Beginner/intermediate photographer

Not sure if this is the right place to post this - but what are some ways to make some side money with a photography hobby? I shoot mostly landscapes - beaches/foliage/floral/etc. Would selling them on Etsy be worth it? Are there any other places that I could use?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

My Sony a6400 has been saying shutter error and telling me to turn it off and back on again but it doesn't clear. I went through Sonys help thing on their website to find a shop I could send it to that would be able to fix it. They quoted me $580 which seems high since that's what the camera is worth. I fix up electronics all the time but never a camera. So I'm wondering if this would be a complicated job and I should just send it into the shop, or if it will be easy enough that I could figure it out myself.

I am new to photography. want to get a decent camera. I need your advice on price; should I wait until Black Friday?

Hi, my friend would like a cheap digital camera as a gift and I have no experience in this realm. I appreciate your time.

Budget: $50

Country: US

Condition: any

Type of Camera: simple point and shoot

Intended use: fun photography with friends

If photography; what style: hanging out with friends/family

If video what style: N/A

What features do you absolutely need: N/A

What features would be nice to have: N/A

Portability: Pocketable/fits in a small purse most likely

Cameras you're considering: N/A

Cameras you already have: N/A

The best one by far is the fuji s3pro other than that theres also the olympus c1400l, nikon coolpix p100 and the pentax zoom 105r. Others i dont really find interesting but they are there

I mostly take landscape or nighttime photos—would it be okay to post pictures on Instagram that were taken at the same location and from the same angle? Since it’s my own account, it should be fine to share photos that have a similar vibe, even if they were taken on different days, right?

What is the most recommended program to edit photos?

The mainly field is pictures of natures/Animals/Insects

Of course the base of the picture is to manage to control the camera the right way but there is always a fixes that we want to make.

Thank you everyone in advance

Edit: I got it to work. Someone made a comment about the batteries and I did some research and it turns out they need a specific type of batteries that aren’t alkaline batteries (which were the only ones I had on hand). The new rechargeable batteries work!

I just got this Sony DSC-P51 from EBay and it was working literally 30 minutes ago and I was able to take 3 photos and then I turned it off and now I can’t take photos anymore. I turned it off because I wanted to try the flash settings so I went to search up how to do it and now I can’t go back to the photo screen. I can view the photos but for some reason when I go back to the photo taking option it doesn’t turn on at all. The lens stay shuttered. I’d appreciate any insights.

Today I bought my first digital camera Sony cybershot DSC w-620 with a battery memory and a battery charger. I took like two photos with it and left it for about two hours and when I picked it up again to take some photos. The screen showed that there was no battery and then the camera turned off. Put the battery in the charger for like an hour but then I took a photo and then it turned off again.
Do I need to leave the battery in the charger for a longer period of time or is there another thing I need to do?

Hi,

(dont ask why i did this) but a few years ago my g7x was submerged in water accidentally and it stopped working. I turned it off, soaked it in rice and it still wasnt working. A few years have passed and I decided to try it again now the light comes on but the screen is black. Do you think there is any hope getting it repaired?
