I am entirely overwhelmed trying to find a legit affordable digital camera. I don’t even know where to start. And when I do find one I like and check specs it’s like 200$. I am looking for something small with quality picture and video. Pink would be a super duper plus but I dont know. Is it worth it to import a pink y2k camera? If there’s an easier way I’d love to know. I picked the jelly star by unihertz til my light flip is delivered in may or whatever. So the camera is not good. Any tips at all would help before i over pay for something cute that’s not necessarily worth it.
Not sure if this is the thread for digital. Would love recommendations. Not looking to buy directly from this thread necessarily. Just don’t know where to start.

does anybody know why on earth Alphagvrd takes so damn long to ship??
I ordered a matching set for my body and lens on August 26, 2026, and got the body skin no problem. It is now October 15, 2026 and all they’ve done is created my label for the lens skin. what could possibly cause this?
and if you’re and Alphagvrd rep, lock tf in please

Hi! I’m not sure if this is the right community to ask, but my Sony Cyber-shot DSC-HX10V won’t turn on, and I’d really appreciate some help!
I know very little about cameras, so please bear with me!
When I press the power button, the green light doesn’t turn on, and the camera doesn’t start. However, when I plug it into the charger, the green light briefly appears for a second before disappearing again.
I bought the camera secondhand about two years ago, and it’s been working fine until now. I haven’t used it in a while, so I’m wondering if the battery might be the problem or if it needs to be replaced.
I’m not sure how charging or replacing the battery works on this model, so any advice or troubleshooting tips would be greatly appreciated. Thank you!

hey as the post states I need some advice on weather to get a Panasonic lumix or canon g2. I understand these are two completely different cameras to compare so any input and knowledge is appreciated. Im mainly looking for one to bring on backpacking trips or to the beach and just mess around with. i usually shoot film but prices are getting ridiculous so I’m looking for a digital to replace that with.
Factors im considering: price point, being able to transfer to my phone, picture quality, and something that’s gonna last

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Edit: I got it to work. Someone made a comment about the batteries and I did some research and it turns out they need a specific type of batteries that aren’t alkaline batteries (which were the only ones I had on hand). The new rechargeable batteries work!
I just got this Sony DSC-P51 from EBay and it was working literally 30 minutes ago and I was able to take 3 photos and then I turned it off and now I can’t take photos anymore. I turned it off because I wanted to try the flash settings so I went to search up how to do it and now I can’t go back to the photo screen. I can view the photos but for some reason when I go back to the photo taking option it doesn’t turn on at all. The lens stay shuttered. I’d appreciate any insights.

Beginner/intermediate photographer
Not sure if this is the right place to post this - but what are some ways to make some side money with a photography hobby? I shoot mostly landscapes - beaches/foliage/floral/etc. Would selling them on Etsy be worth it? Are there any other places that I could use?
Thanks in advance for any suggestions!

My Sony a6400 has been saying shutter error and telling me to turn it off and back on again but it doesn't clear. I went through Sonys help thing on their website to find a shop I could send it to that would be able to fix it. They quoted me $580 which seems high since that's what the camera is worth. I fix up electronics all the time but never a camera. So I'm wondering if this would be a complicated job and I should just send it into the shop, or if it will be easy enough that I could figure it out myself.

I have been using a Canon 600D with two kit lenses and a 50mm prime lens since 2014. While I am not a professional and do not intend to monetize my hobby, I have been considering an upgrade to either the Canon R6 Mark II or the R8.
I recently experimented with using only a prime lens during a trip to challenge myself, and I was pleased with the results. However, I remained frustrated with the camera body and display throughout the process. I am uncertain if investing in expensive equipment is justified for my purposes, which include photographing people, streets, nature, and family gatherings.
I am sharing these images in hopes of receiving an objective assessment of my photography skills to help me decide if an equipment upgrade is worthwhile. I would appreciate your honest advice. Furthermore, as I recognize that my editing skills need improvement, I am planning to learn color correction and other techniques using Affinity and Pixelmator.

I mostly take landscape or nighttime photos—would it be okay to post pictures on Instagram that were taken at the same location and from the same angle? Since it’s my own account, it should be fine to share photos that have a similar vibe, even if they were taken on different days, right?

Has anyone tried using a modern compact flash like the Godox iT30 Pro or iT32 on an older digicam?
I'm planning to buy one for my Canon G10, but I'm not sure if it will work properly with the camera's hot shoe.
I'm mainly wondering if it will fire correctly and whether basic flash functionality works, even without TTL.
If you've tried either of these flashes on an older Canon PowerShot or another vintage digital camera, I'd really appreciate hearing about your experience

Today I bought my first digital camera Sony cybershot DSC w-620 with a battery memory and a battery charger. I took like two photos with it and left it for about two hours and when I picked it up again to take some photos. The screen showed that there was no battery and then the camera turned off. Put the battery in the charger for like an hour but then I took a photo and then it turned off again.
Do I need to leave the battery in the charger for a longer period of time or is there another thing I need to do?

Hi,
(dont ask why i did this) but a few years ago my g7x was submerged in water accidentally and it stopped working. I turned it off, soaked it in rice and it still wasnt working. A few years have passed and I decided to try it again now the light comes on but the screen is black. Do you think there is any hope getting it repaired?

I recently started a marketing agency in India and looking to invest in a camera for our content production.
Currently, around 90% of our work is video and 10% is photography. As we grow, we may also take on more photography projects, so I’m looking for a reliable hybrid camera that can handle both.
My maximum budget is INR2.2 lakh ($2,322) for the camera body, and I can spend around INR 1 lakh (approximately $1,055) on a lens for now.
Here are the cameras I’m currently considering, based on the prices I’ve found in India:
Sony A7 V — (approx. $2,350)
Canon R6 V — (approx. $2,000)
Canon R6 Mark III — (approx. $2,300)
Nikon Z6 III — (approx. $1,790)
Nikon ZR — (approx. $1,580)
Almost everyone recommends the Sony A7 V. My biggest concern is the cost of lenses. Currently I can only afford buy one good lens around
around the budget. For eg sigma 24-70 f2.8 cost $1030, which I can afford.
I’d like to understand whether Sony is genuinely the best choice for my situation or whether I’m overlooking some good alternatives.

Budget: $4,000–$6,000 CAD, potentially a little more for a genuinely worthwhile upgrade.
Country: Canada.
Condition: New preferred
Type of Camera: Cinema camera or video-focused hybrid camera.
Intended use: Primarily independent narrative short films, personal filmmaking projects, and experimental/creative filmmaking. Photography is secondary.
If photography; what style: Occasional photography, but not a priority.
If video what style: Cinematic narrative filmmaking, independent short films, atmospheric and visually expressive projects. I’m interested in achieving a polished, professional cinema look rather than a typical commercial or wedding-video aesthetic.
What features do you absolutely need:
Excellent image quality and dynamic range.
Log recording, preferably Canon Log 2 or an equivalent professional log profile, with good flexibility for color grading in DaVinci Resolve.
Open-gate recording if possible, since I want flexibility when cropping and reframing footage in post-production. My intended delivery resolution is 4K, with a 1.5:1 aspect ratio.
Good low-light performance.
High-quality internal recording, ideally RAW or another robust professional recording format.
Reliable autofocus would be a plus, since I’ll often be filming by myself.
Internal image stabilization would be nice, but it isn’t essential.
A camera with a good ecosystem of lenses and accessories.
Portability: Very important. I’m primarily a one-person filmmaker working on personal projects, not a large production with a dedicated camera operator, focus puller, and other crew members. I’d prefer a relatively compact, lightweight setup that I can operate independently and build up with accessories as needed.
Cameras you’re considering: Canon EOS C50, Canon EOS R5 Mark II, and potentially other cinema cameras or video-focused hybrids in this price range. I’m open to alternatives.
Cameras you already have: None that I’m planning to use for these projects.
Notes: I’m mainly investing in a camera for the next several years, so I want something capable and reliable that I can grow with. My school has lenses available to borrow, so I don’t necessarily need to buy an extensive lens collection immediately. I’m looking for recommendations on which camera would make the most sense for my use case, including whether a dedicated cinema camera is worth it over a hybrid camera. My budget is in Canadian dollars and is primarily for the camera body, although I’d appreciate advice on leaving room for essential accessories.

Holy shit, I'm thanking the thrift gods right now, my brother found a Sharp VL-C650 at a thrift store for 40$, WITH 2 batteries, the camera bag, and a VHS in it! If you have any info about this camera please lmk, I'm a beginner collector. Charging one of the batteries right now to see if it works.
edit: tried one battery and it didn't work so I got worried, tried the other one and the power light came on and then went off, I think I just need to let it charge for longer lol
