Chicken Photography PTSD Frizzle
Her Silkie sister was snatched up by a raccoon the other night. Now she is roosting on the fence for the first time in her life. Smart of her to make the correlation “high up means no hurt” ☹️

Chicken Photography Got some nice photos of my boy Big Alabaster posing for me and eating corn today.
I love this big handsome puffball. He's a sweetheart and a great protector to my bantam flock. He's so soft too!

Health Question Chicken can’t walk normally?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
video was taken 10/1. we took her to the vet who started her on antiparasite meds. By 10/10 she basically wasn’t standing at all. We’ve been isolating her and supplementing her food and water but she still doesn’t stand. Any ideas what might be happening?

General Question Chicken run floor question
Hi all! First time chicken owner here. I built my coop in my backyard on grass. They’ve eaten all that grass now of course. What is best to use over the dirt? I have 4 bags of mulch and have read that is one good option. Any words of advice for a newbie that just wants the best for my gals?
Thank you

Health Question Help!
Just went outside to collect eggs and found this girlie sleeping weirdly on the cement. All her feathers are gone from her head and her comb looks damaged. Also I don't see any other injuries on her. Just the head area. Myself and my family spend quite a bit of time with them and haven't noticed anything wrong with them yesterday. She is making noise and seems to be alert and normal now but have separated her from the others. Dry fowl pox? Bird flu? Animal attack? My dog came with me on errands this morning so wasn't protecting the yard like normal. What do you guys think? Also we are located inland NSW if that helps

General Question My friend gave me three chickens and now I'm panicking
So a friend of mine gave me 3 chickens for free and now Im realizing I have no idea what I'm doing lol.Never raised chickens before and im stressed about keeping them safe and making sure I'm doing everything right. My neighbor suggested putting a camera near the coop so I can check on them especially at night and when im at work. Thats sounds like a good idea but I m not sure if it's really necessary or just another thing to worry about. 1.Anyone here use cameras for their chickens? 2.Are they worth having as a beginner? 3.Any tips for someone completely new to this would be appreciated.

Health Question What should I do? I’ve never heard this cough before
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hi everyone!
This is the first time I’ve heard one of my chickens cough like this. She did it a couple times. I actually thought someone was being pecked at first. She won’t let me look down her throat to see if there are tapeworms, but no sign of them in her poop by the naked eye.
Symptoms:
Wheezing, crazy cough three times
Empty feeling crop
Normal enough looking poop
Willingly ate raw egg
No noticeable swelling of her head
No discharge from the eyes
Sneezed a bit of gunk from her nose
Not lethargic
I may have noticed her a bit puffed up randomly in the past, but energy levels have been normal
Still hasn’t laid first egg, born in late may
I’ve not noticed symptoms in other chickens
No observed neurological symptoms
I have antibiotics on hand, should I just go ahead and treat the flock?
Thank you

Chicken Photography Husband in jail
Bigfoot hurt his right thigh or hip so now he’s in the healing cage. Neither him or his wife are too pleased about the situation. I don’t mind if she sleeps beside him but when she jumps on top, she be pooping on him lol.
Don’t worry, I’m gonna add a trash bag on top tonight so that doesn’t happen.

General Question Newbie with cold weather prep questions
Hello everyone and thanks in advance for your help! I've learned so much from all your posts, now it's my turn to ask a few questions- I only have 4 birds (legal limit inside the city) with a small coop and covered run. My girls are about 6 months old and happy as can be for now, but the weather is changing quickly and the nights are getting cold. I'm in southern MN and winter can be brutal.
Question #1- At what temperature do you start turning on coop heaters for your birds?
Question #2- What do you use to enclose and insulate your run during the winter?
Question #3- With shorter daylight, should I have light in the coop?

General Question I have another chicken in my yard...
A little while ago, I posted about my neighbor's chicken getting out and into my yard. It's still there, and another random chicken showed up last week that isn't my neighbor's. My coop is going up tomorrow, will try to lure them in. I've selected a spot the dogs can't see them. Wish me luck and please spread advice like feed!

General Question Moving My Chickens to a New House/Coop
Hi all, just finished building a coop & run at my new home we just purchased (yes, I need to add hardware cloth and some other bits). We'll be moving the chickens about 7 hours to their new home, and I was curious about what I should do when we get there. Is there a specific process I should follow for them to get acclimated to the new area and coop? I have 6 ladies who are around 1.5 years old. Thanks!

General Question Serama size versus my Dutch booted bantams?
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Most of my questions are stated in the video!
But as a summary, I was wondering, how different in size would seramas be versus my current bantams.
I would like to get some, but I have a hard time conceptualizing a chicken smaller than this.
If anybody owns some, I would love some photos for comparison!

General Question Scared For Chickens & Other Birds This Summer
I have heard from some news outlets that there is a Suoer El Nino forming, which will raise temperatures down here in Australia. This has concerned me and raised my anxieties on keeping my birds safe and cool. I love my birds to death, and i know that I should keep them in shade and with water at all times. However, I'm scared it wont be enough to help, what els can I do and/or what would lessen my anxiety? Thank you!!
