General Question Is it worth processing bantam roosters or do people usually just cull them and get rid of them? Called the local butcher place that does butchering for backyard flocks (FDA certified place) and they say they won't process bantams.
I would make them into a broth or bone broth and can them all up in my pressure canner but I don't want to do the slaughtering and preparing of them. 80% of the eggs in two batches hatched into roosters. I was just going to keep them and pay for the feed with all flock and oyster shells for the hens. It's 5 hens and 10 roosters, it was 11 but one got out and I couldn't catch it and figured the heck with it. They grab a hen and drag her under them to mate and sometims two try to mate the same hen at the same time. I'ts kind of wild. The roosters are nice to me though and never attack or bother me at all. Maybe keeping one or two that behave the best would be worth it.
There might be a local person that would agree to do it for me but I don't know if that's even an option still. Anyone been in this situation before?
