What local hiking groups are still active and cool?
It feels like 4-5 years ago Meetup was full of active trail groups, but now there are hardly any left.
Which groups are still running and worth joining? And where do I find them these days? Is Meetup still relevant for this?
I was recently gifted a vintage jadeite glass dinnerware set that I’d like to use daily. I’m looking for nondestructive screening for lead, cadmium and ideally uranium. Anyone have an XRF equipment?

Is it ever coming back? Does anyone know anything?
I plan to call first thing in the morning to confirm, but for pre planning purposes I wanted to see if anyone knew if both plaintiffs listed (husband + wife) on a small claims civil suit need to appear in court or can one person go. I’ve tried to find this answer online but have not found a confirmed answer. Thanks for any insight.

I am in my mid 40s and have lived in Austin for the majority of my adult life but I have also bounced around elsewhere during that time. I’ve never thought to ask anyone this but I’ve always been curious about two things in particular.
Why don’t people stop for pedestrians when there’s a crosswalk and a sign that says stop for pedestrians in the crosswalk?
Why do people claim street parking in front of their house as “theirs?” since it’s a public street and if you want a moving/storage trailer or something you need a permit from the city.
These are honest questions bc I haven’t seen these in other places as much and it almost feels like the rule more than the exception to me. I’m not saying it like these people are idiots or anything I just thought maybe there was some sort of unspoken thing that someone who has lived here forever might know like how in California it’s known that the last few people taking the left are gonna run the red.

is there anyone in Austin that you recommend? Thank you!

I live west of the city and am looking for a good dentist preferably along 290. Anyone have any recs? I don't necessarily mind something closer into austin either, as it's only a 25 minute drive.

I just moved to Austin recently and I’m trying to plan ahead on what to do for Halloween. 🎃 What neighborhoods should I go to? (Preferably if they’re located by the south side of Austin but any suggestion is good :) )

Hey, yall
So my son is very interested in tech and electronics. He has been wanting to make his existing VR equipment capable of full body tracking. He's done some research and tried cell phones, switch controllers and has learned about open source diy slime vr trackers. Problem is, everything he searches or locates is out of the country and shipping costs are astronomical or just way too much in the country. I know this town is rich in tech and I was hoping someone knows SOMETHING about it. He basically can 3d print, solder, and put them together himself but doesnt have the skill or material.
Thanks for reading and any tips are appreciated

That's about it - looking for to replace a wood fence and would appreciate recommendations from people for quality local builders/companies. Thanks!

I know there’s a few posts out there, but some comments I either haven’t heard of the place and/or I check their profile and it seems like an account dedicated to promoting the place so obviously not a real recommendation
I’ve looked at westlake derm, peachy, and it’s a secret med spa.
I’m looking specifically for masseter Botox for both tmj pain for cosmetically.
I’m trying to ideally keep it around or under $800 but don’t wanna be botched

Who are you using for car insurance coverage? We were quoted a ridiculous amount by our current provider (with the good grade and driving school discount). We understand insuring a teen is expensive but $1k/month is excessive.

We’re working to clean out a family member’s house about an hour from Austin and it has a lot of old antiques (many with the tags from when they were bought that gives their details) and antique rugs. Are there good antique appraises/buyers that I can contact who can come appraise and sell stuff for us? thanks!
