Mod Post Product Authenticity Thursday October 15, 2026

Hello AB! Welcome to Product Authenticity Thursday,

Our weekly product authenticity thread is a work in progress, comments about how to improve are welcome. We made our best effort based on comments received here as well as what we have been seeing as mods.

We would like to note that product packaging AND formulas may vary by country of sale and date of manufacture. This might include anything about the formula. Our goal is to make it easier for folks to compare such things, and to confirm or assuage concerns about their products.

Please post any photos or experiences you have around your AB products, while adhering to our other subreddit rules.

Make sure you state where you purchased your products from. If you bought from a 3rd party of a major retailer, you can say for example, 'eBay/amazon/taobao seller' instead of sharing the specific name, if you prefer.

To help you get more responses, consider including:

  • Photos of confirmed authentic products as comparison, requests for authentic products are allowed
  • Your purchase date, product manufacture date, or any expiration dates
  • Country you bought the item from
  • Whether your product had to be shipped to you (shipping conditions can compromise product stability)
  • How much you paid for your product

Comments and Questions welcome, we hope this thread is helpful!

Hello and welcome to the Alter-Daily Help Thread! The purpose of the ADHT is to ask simple questions, troubleshoot routines, get quick recommendations, prevent the sub from being too cluttered, and to guide new users.

ADHT Rules: If questions or comments break the rules or are inappropriate, the report button is the fastest way for the mod team to see it and address the problems.

Discussion Wrecked my barrier with retinol, re-thinking my evening routine

• Upvotes

So, it happened to me: I wrecked my skin barrier when I upped the retinol strength. Took me two weeks for it to heal.

I normally double cleanse in the evening (oil cleanser and a gentle foaming cleanser, I'm thinking of switching to a milk cleanser instead). I then use the I'm from mugwort essence, and used to just slap retinol on top and finish off with a ceramide cream (Dr. Jart, but I have to leave it off my chin because it breaks me out there).

I think I may need another layer before retinol. What do all you girls on strong retinoids and tret use to save your skin barrier? Do you mix retinol into a moisturizer to "buffer" it, or do you sandwich it between two layers?

Discussion tight and dry but greasy skin?

• Upvotes

My face feels tight and stretched after cleansing, then I typically use a green tea toner and the neutrogena water cream, but right as my face no longer feels tight, it becomes shiny in an oily way. Like I can touch my nose and under a light or the sun there's very visible oil. Also during the middle of the day I can see something white coming out of all of my pores.

The issue is I'm using a tinted mineral sunscreen that ends up caking around my oily pores that I'm really trying to cover up during the day. My skin is so textured and bumpy and I'm really considering getting a pore-filling cbeauty primer but I don't even know if those truly work (and it's kind of out of my budget).

Should I switch to a pure foundation instead? And if I should be using primer, are there any seriously hydrating primers that double up as lotion/moisturizer?

Review New to k-skincare

• Upvotes

All I have ever used is the dokdo cleanser (thinking about trying the milk— any thoughts?), rose water mist as toner, beauty by joseon sunscreen, COSRX snail mucin serum, COSRX snail mucin crème (which u don’t really use). Also if anyone uses the vit c dr Althea lmk!

I have really basic dry skin (oily nose), I don’t break out, have no scars or pigmentation.

I like to keep my skincare very very simple with simple soft products nothing too harsh or chemically.

I’m a teenager (idk if this helps) looking for a better serum, and moisturizer.. please give me recs!!! Thanks!

Has anyone tried this new version that now comes without a pump? Do you feel like it’s very different from the OG? I really love this BB cream but now I’m a bit scared to order it.

Discussion Sunscreen Phases 😭😂

Is it just me, or do you have phases with different sunscreen brands and markets?

There was a single year where I was obsessed with Japanese sunscreens, love their texture and all… then I went for Korean sunscreens and just wore only Korean sunscreens because it felt like absolutely nothing on my skin… then I had a European sunscreen obsession because of their high UVA protection among all..

I’m Australian so I do occasionally come back to our own, and we’ve been really making advancements with new formulas and cool innovations so I have had periods where I like ours

But… yet again I think I’m going back for the Japanese sunscreens because it just had the single most benefits for me and I think they were the easiest to wear consistently when some others were more or less annoying to me. Korean sunscreens are good too, but there is just something about Japanese sunscreens and how cooling they are for the skin

I stay inside often so I don’t think the minor UVA exposure is going to affect me so deeply when I am only exposed if I am close to a window (not often). If I were to go outside for long periods I’d rely on more heavy duty UVA strong sunscreens

Right now I’m thinking about going back to the Skin Aqua Serum SPF50, absolutely fabulous to wear. It is coming to summer here in Australia so a comfortable sunscreen is better than inconsistent or none for me

Discussion Why iunik beta glucan line has such low concentrations of beta glucan?

Beta glucan is the star of the whole line and IUNIK markets beta glucan as the reason these products are good.

But look at the concentrations:
- Serum: 160,000ppb (note is ppB, parts per billion, not ppm)
- Cream: 60,000ppb
- Sunscreen: 1,000 ppb

Aren't they too low? For example, the 160000 ppb of the serum equals 0.016%
What do you think?

Discussion Asian beauty dupe for Becca’s under eye corrector?

Post image
39 Upvotes

Hii
Does anyone know an Asian Beauty dupe for Becca’s brightening under eye corrector? Specifically one that also has light reflecting qualities?
I really like this color corrector, but since Becca exited Sephora it’s been a bit difficult to buy since I live in Asia. Does anyone know of any similar products? Would really appreciate it!
Thank you!

Discussion What’s your K-skincare nostalgic/comfort scent?

Not a scent from a perfume or mist --just regular skincare products that instantly relax you or something that's nostalgic.

For me, Innisfree always hits that gentle, fresh spot, and the ginseng Sulwhasoo scent is pure comfort because it reminds me of my grandma.

Requesting Reviews Curel Oil Control Gel Moisturizer. Do you like it? has it been good for your skin?

Acne-prone and treating mild and sometimes moderate acne. Skin is not oily and not dry, so I guess, skin is normal.

Curel Oil Control Weightless Gel Moisturizer.

Japanese moisturizer - Active ingredient: Allantoin.

Other Ingredients: Purified Water, Glycerin, BG, Dimethicone, Eucalyptus Extract, Hexadeciloxy PG Hydroxyethyl Hexadecanamide, Long Chain Dibasic Acid Bis 3-Methoxypropylamide, 10-Hydroxyundecanoic Acid, Zn Oxide, Stearoylmethyl Taurine Na, hydroxypropylmethylcellulose, acrylic acid, alkyl methacrylate copolymer, arginine, parapen

It's so interesting that Allantoin is an active ingredient.

Does anyone really know how things work in Japan? At what % does a brand need to report an ingredient as an active? or does anyone knows what is the % of Allantoin in this moisturizer? I'm curious because it's an active ingredient.

Is it a good moisturizer for acne-prone skin or when treating mild or moderate acne? how is your experience with the Allantoin? does the Allantoin makes a difference or is it a marketing thing?

Please share with me everything about this Curel Sebum Trouble Care Moisture Facial Gel. Is it any good?

Requesting Reviews Oil free sunscreen recommendations?

Hi everyone, I’m looking for to try more Asian sunscreens, preferably water & sweat resistant ones but I don’t know where to start looking, the only one I’ve tried and like is the Purito daily soft touch sunscreen. Oil in my skincare breaks me out so what oil-free sunscreens do you recommend? I’d also love to know how they look/feel on you (is there a white cast, is it dewy or matte, etc.) Thanks in advance!

Discussion Looking for a certain sticky, heavily hydrating Japanese lotion

Hi, I know that product requests usually go in the daily thread, but I have asked there before and didn't get any answers. I hope this is okay.

I got some Japanese skincare samples. They came in long rectangular white packets. Each had a different colored floral motif - the lotion in question was pink and rose themed, and I'm pretty sure the cleanser was purple. The lotion was clear and a little thick, rose scented, and it went on very sticky and heavy on that squeaky-slippery glycerin feel. It was really wonderful for the dry winter air and I'd love to find it (or something similar). It may have been from Kracie but I'm not confident on that.

TIA for any suggestions.

Beauty Where to buy C-Beauty makeup in China, especially Anthemy

Hello all:)

My friends will visit China (Chongqing and Guangzhou) so I have a chance to get my hands on a C-Beauty makeup haul.

The brands and products I would love to buy while in China:

Anthemy - Matrix eyeshadow singles are my dream
Cheeryep
Romantic beauty
Sheeneffect
Girlcult
Kaleidos

Ordering online would be the best - I already downloaded Wechat, but so far I only found Pinduoduo which looks rather suspicious, especially for Anthemy. I saw Taobao in some threads, but I am unable to use that from the EU unfortunately.

I'm interested in all experiences, online shops and physical stores as well, so thank you for your help.

I would really appreciate if I wouldn't need to go bankrupt from 10 eyeshadow singles, cbeautymall prices are crazy for Anthemy. :')

Beauty Skin1004 centella sunscreen SPF 50+++

Post image
0 Upvotes

My skin had a tan on it from before, especially in the forehead area, while the rest of my face was fine. 6 months ago, I used Fixderma sunscreen. Since then, I have been using Skin1004 Centella sunscreen, and over that, I apply a tinted sunscreen.

Now, for the last 3-4 months, I have noticed that my entire forehead, cheek sides, and whole face have become dark (hyperpigmented), and the forehead darkness has doubled.

I don't understand why this is happening. I wear a mask covering 2 fingers' width and use an umbrella, yet this is still happening. What is the reason for the skin getting darker instead of getting protection?

Between applying it with 2 fingers, I apply 1 finger's amount on my forehead and sides because the rest of my part is covered by the mask.

Can a tinted sunscreen cause some kind of reaction?

Please tell me the names of sunscreens that will actually prevent tanning."

And why did I got more pigment?

Added the tinted one also..

Requesting Reviews The saem triple pot concealer vs tip concealer

Anyone tried both products? How do they fare in comparison to each other?

I am 1.5 in tip concealer (a tad too red and a bittt too dark for me after oxidation, but not super noticeable). Otherwise found it rather easy to work with.

Am looking to get the triple pot concealer 01 Clear Beige for more colour correcting options, but worried it might be too light for me. What do you guys think?
