What’s y’all’s worst experience as a Delivery Driver?

Someone stashed piss bottles in the van and forgot about them. I was at the end of my route on the way to my last stop when I hit a turn and suddenly I felt myself get splashed by something. I instantly knew that the piss bottles flew off and exploded in the van (there was 2 total). Had to drive 30 mins back to the warehouse smelling like someone’s weeks old piss 🤦‍♂️ pretty sure this is a biohazard. Got my arm covered in it and my backpack n lunch box. How would yall react to this? I was heated. Anyways please if you’re a driver and decide to pee in bottles. THROW THEM THE FUCK AWAY AFTERWARDS DONT STASH THEM AND LET THEM MARINATE!!!!

QUESTION Would you deliver or rts this guy

Post image

There is a box on the other side of the driveway but it’s just a home depot tote and not even a weather proof one. No signage anywhere near the “box”. My first thought was mark it unsafe and rts it. Second thought was to launch it at the empty Amazon box sitting in the yard about 10 yards behind the sign. I did put it in the tote because this guy is for sure a complainer. It took everything in me to do so though.

AMAZON DRIVERS HAVE HAD ENOUGH!
📦 400–500 packages. ⏱️ 20-minute loadouts. 💧 Rushed just to grab water. 📢 Yelled at by Amazon warehouse management while trying to load our vans.

WE ARE DRIVERS, NOT ROBOTS! ✊

📣 TO AMAZON WAREHOUSE MANAGEMENT:
We demand RESPECT! Stop rushing us, yelling at us, and treating drivers like numbers. We deserve enough time to load safely and get drinking water.

📣 TO DSP OWNERS:
✅ Respect your drivers!
✅ Follow labor laws!
✅ Provide proper uniforms!
✅ Maintain SAFE, CLEAN vehicles!
✅ Set REALISTIC return-to-station times!
✅ Respect our legally required breaks and meal periods!
✅ Provide fair holiday time-off opportunities!
✅ Respect and fairly handle our PTO requests!

RANT Amazon lockers….

Just had to deliver 189 packages to an amazon locker that only has 40 slots total. Locker is located outside directly in the sun (texas btw) so takes extra time to try to get the barcode to work bc the amount of light. Also have customers interrupting me to get packages then have to rescan all 7 barcodes. Have to go Door 2 Door for 165 packages across a whole area that the locker is supposed to cover, which includes 25 5 story buildings with no elevators and a whole subdivision.

Wish they could’ve just cut the middle man out and have me directly scan the packages instead of spending an hour and a half scanning packages that will be redirected anyways that will be scanned on the phone anyways. Also none of the pins are accurate and are just at the locker. Have told dispatch numerous times about this stop and how the pins are never right and nothing has been done in months

What’s the point of time sensitive deliveries if the itinerary just ignores it?

There was a school on my route yesterday with the time set for 8AM-4PM. I got there around 5ish. I said maybe i was behind, I did take a lunch. But for my very last stop of the day, it was for a business set for 9AM-5PM. I got there at 8:30PM. How could I have ever possibly make it to my 200th stop before 5PM starting at 12:30? The app itself said I should be done around 9:30. Like it just said fuck that time lol

Random package automatically added to itinerary

Post image

Had a few random packages with locations pretty far off. Usually set them aside but accidentally scanned one while looking for another. After swiping to finish at a stop this popped up and that package was automatically added to the itinerary. I didn’t pick it up, was just during a regular stop. Of course i’m not going to deliver that lol. But I am wondering if this is a new feature? Never gotten this before.

Also wondering if it counts against me in my scorecard? My dps has a seasonal bonus incentive for having clean scores including how many packages returned. I mentioned what happened to them and they avoided the question. But knowing amazon it’s more than likely.

Out of all the broken issues with the app of course they implement another annoying mechanism designed to prioritize packages above all else.

RANT Rescues, this should be looked at!

• Upvotes

Hi, I’ve been working for a DSP for two years.
Love the job but i have a problem with people who don’t finish their routes.
Iv been doing rescues twice every week and i believe this is not normal. If i reject, my boss will sound pissed on the phone.
Most of the time, it’s the same people i rescue and i am sick if this. I think people who cant finish their job on time should find a different Job respectfully.
I am tired of making plans then cancelling just cause someone cant do the Job right.
It’s unfair and Amazon should do something about it.

I feel like i deserve to go home after finishing my route on time cause i work hard, while another person who is taking his/her time gets to rest during route and rely on me later.
How is that normal?
Amazon should speak up!

QUESTION Should I run from this DSP?

• Upvotes

Had orientation today with one of my local DSPs and the guy genuinely spent the first 45 minutes ranting about how extremely hard the job is and how he's wasted so much money having to fire people after their first day. I'm sure the job is rough but he seemed more concerned about the burden it brought on him to have to hire and fire so often.

Later he adds that he doesn't like sending out rescues and if you have to be rescued too often he's letting you go. He clarified that he was referring to people in the past that were still several hours behind schedule towards the end of their shifts and not for people maybe 1 hour late but it still sounded a little extreme.

One thing he seemed pretty lenient on was refusing to deliver packages if the instructions were too long, stupid, or impossible to follow and to not waste more than a couple minutes waiting for a customer to answer their phone. But then he says that 2 or 3 customer complaints usually result in termination as well.

Is this par for the course with most DSPs? There's a warehouse closer to me than this one anyway but I would hope other owners aren't this intense. Even if every one is like this though, at least I can choose the one with the shortest commute lol.

QUESTION Station Shift Changing to 8 Hour Routes?

• Upvotes

Way back during Covid, we used to work 5 days, 8 hour shifts. Ever since then we have been working 4 day, 10 hour shifts. Rumor has it we might be returning to the previous schedule. Has anyone experienced this recently and what is your volume like? I would hate to work an extra day and most likely give them a free shift.

RANT Caught the flu and got left on read🤔

I’ve been sick since last night to the point my whole body is sore. I took a at home test and it said I was positive for the flu so I text my dsp telling them I’m gonna be out for a day or 2 because I’m so sick I can barely Stand. I even sent a picture of the test and got left on read so now idk if I should still stay home or not. Granted I don’t think it would even be safe but I’m also not trying to lose my job. I think I’m just gonna try and get a doctors appointment tomorrow so I’ll have a work note but it’s a little shitty that I’m telling you I have the flu and can’t get a response.

Delivery during trick or treat?

Increased foot traffic and stupidity included. Might get some treats and get to see some cool costumes, but is the headache worth it?
