So...we are now funding Russias war effort.?

8.2k

u/Careless-Vehicle-286 5d ago

This is why Trump wanted Zelensky to stop attacking Russia's energy infrastructure. This is also why Zelensky didn't stop attacking Russia's energy infrastructure.

4.6k

u/JarasM 5d ago

You know what? Ukraine should now attack Russia's energy infrastructure even harder.

1.5k

u/Kridenberg 5d ago

And we will, new Zelensky 'daily' message for nation is live RN. We will hit even harder, AFAIK

907

u/archlich 5d ago

Fuck Russia. Let the refineries burn.

125

u/Gyossaits 5d ago

They should sabotage the fuel in all kinds of ways. Process it incorrectly, make it inert...

Good. Sorry Trump fucked you over, hopefully Nov 3rd when we vote he will be with less absolute power that he seems to have at the moment.

329

u/hurubaw 5d ago

Im not as optimistic. The americans have proven to be untrustworthy as a whole. Just changing the president wont fix this.

If the US does not fix it’s system of non-existing balances and checks of political power, the US will always be just under 4 years and an election away from being a hostile dictatorship.

111

u/xteve 5d ago

Also, we need to disempower church. There's too much religion in our politics. Christians have too much power and they vote for hate.

67

u/hurubaw 5d ago

The only fix for that is vastly improving the education system.

20

u/load_more_comets 5d ago

That is correct, but the fucked up part is that it will be a herculean task trying to do that plus it will be terribly easy for the republicans to sabotage it again. I don't know how we're going to fix this but we need to make a plan soon.

13

u/verendum 5d ago

It's has to get worse before it gets better. I hate that the US works like that, but that's how it has always been. Slavery couldnt be settled until a civil war. Hundreds of bank run before a federal bank. I'm optimistic for a blue wave or tsunami, but in order for structural changes, we need new amendments. Getting enough electoral power will require a complete destruction of the Republicans, and although it's pretty damn bad right now, it's not enough. It might be soon. It's scary time we're living through, but it might be necessary pain.

21

u/CaptOblivious 5d ago

Properly taxing any church that expresses a political opinion (AS THE LAW SAYS IT SHOULD) Will fix the problem without hurting churches that aren't pushing a political agenda.

That said, improving the education system should be a priority for any advanced nation.

This is just empty bullshit. Russia has no Diesel to export, they have no Diesel for themselves. The us has no leverage against the Ukrainians since the US is just selling weapons to them, bought with European money.

Its a farce, nothing else.

They will. The European Union/NATO won't stand for this. The war is about to have a MASSIVE missile offensive into Russia, mark my words.

Europe know what trump is about. They are surely well aware something like this could happen and no doubt have a contingency plan.

Let's be honest, it's extremely easy to get spies into this administration. We probably know more about America than ever before.

It's about 18 minutes worth of diesel for the US and November would be about 35 minutes worth. It won't do shit for gas prices.

Aaand this is what Trump will use to justify completely abandoning Ukraine in order to help lower domestic fuel costs by placating Russia...

478

u/FluffyGreenThing 5d ago edited 5d ago

The US abandoned Ukraine as soon as Trump took office. Way back 2019, in his first term, when he was trying to force Zelensky to investigate Biden and Biden’s son in exchange for military aid (which caused his first impeachment and there were zero fucking consequences for that). Those are not the actions of a president who has any intentions at all of actually helping anyone but themselves. Fuck that absolute piece of shit. It was clear as far back as 2018 when he stood on stage with Putin and said he trusted Putin’s word over the US intelligence agencies. He has regurgitated russian propaganda every chance he’s gotten, pressured Ukraine into handing over rare earth minerals, withheld military aid that had already been approved by congress, humiliated himself by being highly disrespectful and talking down to Zelensky in the oval office, repeatedly claimed that Ukraine is to blame for the war. The list of treachery goes on and on and on… it’s all right there and has been out in the open for years. Trump is working with Putin. the US and Russia are working together. It’s that simple and I can’t for the life of me understand why it’s so hard for people to see.

188

u/LordRocky 5d ago

People genuinely seem to forget that Ukraine and Zelensky was the reason we impeached him the first time.

48

u/StunningCloud9184 5d ago

well actually it was trump withholding congress mandated aid to ukraine in exchange for favors from a foreign government that he sent his personal lawyer to get

u/camdim 5d ago

The US also sold him a shit ton of soon to be out of date materials which would have cost a fortune to dispose of at prices which did not reflect this. They also banned Ukraine from transporting the goods themselves and insisted on delivering them with additional extortionate fees. Grifted the fuck out of them...and they'll still be lining up for their mineral deals and rebuilding grifts post war...if there is ever a post war. To be fair, profiting from war and taking advantage of desperate 'allies' is the Us of A's modus operandi...see ww2. With friends like these...

The US abandoned Ukraine as soon as Trump took office. Way back 2019, in his first term ...

It's even worse than that.

The single change the Trump Campaign made to the Republican platform in 2015 was to stop sending arms to Ukraine. His campaign chair was Paul Manafort who had previously worked for Russia's puppet in Ukraine Victor Yanukovich, who fled to Russia when overthrown by the Maidan demonstrations.

It was always about Ukraine.

From the very beginning.

Trump ran to weaken Ukraine.

For Russia.

And why trump forced Europe a few weeks back to release 100s of millions of oil barrel in stock.

Now we can restock the stuff with rUSiA oil from Trump for premium prices.

Why did you think he attacked Iran ? To make sure he get top dollars of the fuel he.. and rUSiA can sell. Also didn't he overthrow Venezuela for their oil reserves to?

Wanna bet it's getting close to being profitable to start exctracing that ?

And Russia is supporting Iran's war effort against the US.

33

u/mumushu 5d ago

If this was ‘war’, then supporting Rus would be ‘treason’. But that’s the old logic that got tossed when Trump became dictator

11

u/TuckerDidIt 5d ago

Couldn't possibly be war, that would require an act of Congress. Let's ask the Department of War just to be sure. Or we could just count the number of times Trump has "ended" the war in Iran.

28

u/TeaAndLifting 5d ago

Short of giving them active military aid, this is basically what America’s right wing have wanted for a while.

u/Dinevir 5d ago

80

u/Justsomejerkonline 5d ago

Russia has also provided Iran with satellite targeting intelligence, fiber optic drone technology, and financial support... so we are now also indirectly funding Iran's war effort as well.

Russia will immediately supply over 300,000 Tons of Diesel Fuel to the American and Global Marketplace, another 500,000 Tons during the month of November, and 1,000,000 Tons immediately thereafter," Trump wrote on Truth Social.

Wait so any country purchasing Russian energy will be punished and slappped 100% tarrifs , because they are funding Russia's war but US can purchase it as per its convenience ?

Its not just hypocrisy it's on your face kind of hypocrisy.

151

u/GlorifiedPlumber 5d ago

Let's use 7.4 barrels per MT as a conversion, so ~3.7 million barrels in November and ~7.4 million barrels in December ("immediately there-after" is sus, so let's call it a month.

Let's assume it's all transportation based diesel (remember Diesel is a range that can be many other things).

US diesel per day consumption for transportation diesel is ~3 million barrels per day.

So, for people doing accounting here, Judas has sold you out for ~1/2 a day of US demand in October, 1 day of demand in November, and 2 days of demand in December.

What I want to know is how this fuel is going to get here. What shipping company or unloading terminal in the US in their right mind wants to touch this. Or is this all a paper transaction and no physical fuel exchanges hands? Like how would people even know.

What I am laughing at, is like okay let's say there's a tanker READY TO GO... ready to be filled, sitting in a russian port. That's what, 25-35 days to get from there to here, and unload? And that's at an east coast port? Add several days for gulf coast?

The whole "right away" part of this, and 300,000 tons, makes me think there is literally a fleet of refined product carriers sitting just outside a US port somewhere, RIGHT NOW.

I am curious what % of their online capacity this represents... if true at nameplate values.

45

u/Famous-Ninja-3068 4d ago

Oh, no, Russia doesn't have diesel to spare, US won't get anything.

But, Trump probably pre-paid for it.

There's also all that oil you stole from Venezuela. What happened to that. (cdn here)

96

u/ThreeLeggedMare 5d ago

It's heavy sour crude that's arduous to refine and very hard to store, and a significant portion of whatever proceeds it generates are going directly to the Pentagon.

Predicated on anyone actually refining it, it's apparently literally the worst oil there is

53

u/Cassin1306 5d ago

The funny thing is, Putin still hates us. As much as Trump tries to cozy up to him, Putin would love to see America collapse and will continue his efforts to push us there.

It’s one thing to try to play nice with an adversary to cool tensions, but that’ll never happen with Russia, at least as long as Putin and likeminded tyrants are in power. This is Trump being a Neville Chamberlain.

121

u/Gahera 5d ago

You’re looking at this from the surface level. Clearly, Trump is a Russian asset meant to disrupt the USA. This is what losing the Cold War after everyone thought it was over looks like. Looks at all his actions from the angle that he is there to weaken the US and a lot of his decisions makes more sense.

I almost guarantee you its a ploy. Russia wants to deliver (but actually doesn't) but the bad Ukrainians bomb the refineries, so Russia can't deliver it anymore, thanks to Ukraine. And then they can say that Ukraine is at fault for the high prices to try to alter the opinion about Ukraine even more.

57

u/hauntingdreamspace 5d ago

Russia's economy is in shambles, they themselves are queuing for petrol and importing refined petroleum from south Korea and India. I'm sure they desperately want to make this sale but if they can't even meet domestic demand, they definitely can't afford to export anything to the US.

I'm sure the Americans know all that, which means it's exactly like you said, political theatre to set the stage for blaming Ukraine.

Seems like owning guns actually turn people into more of a coward. France has gun control and they go out and actually protest, even if I may not always agree with the reasoning or methods. My own country has gun control but people also go out and perform strikes and protests against the government

Media literacy is dead and billionaire oligarchs are getting what they want. Critical mass uninformed, uneducated and unmotivated to fix things. It’s been weird moving from a state with educational standards to one where voters can’t even organize to pass an over ride to fund schools.

This is the epitome of Trump’s Art of the Deal.

  • 300k barrels tons is a paltry amount. The US goes through more than this in a single day.
  • The US is abandoning its own sanctions to do this.
  • The US is funding the opposing side of a war we’ve invested in through this purchase.
  • The US is yet again aligning itself with its historical foreign adversaries against its historical allies.
  • And after all of those L’s, Russia has lost a shit load of their own refining capacity in this war, something like 40%-50% in the Moscow region alone. They are not going to ship the fuel they need to run their own trucks on.

Trump is throwing the United States in the dumpster yet again and will get nothing in return for it.

Donald Trump’s Art of the Deal, everyone.

MAGA really are the dumbest mother fuckers to have ever walked the Earth.

Edit: Barrels to tons. Message literally does not change.

Why are they so brazen right now? They aren’t getting any push back beyond people being like “it’s getting bad guys”

What did Putin gets in exchange for this? We''ll find out in weeks. Putin is not big hearted and doesn't give stuff for free

22

u/_coyotes_ 5d ago

To be honest, it’s nothing. Simple reason being, he’s not telling the truth.

Today is a Friday, you ever notice how he makes big claims on Friday before the weekend that affects the stock market so he and his billionaire buddies can cash in? There is no magical extra deal for diesel he struck with Russia. Russia cannot afford to part with diesel while its refineries are being attacked by Ukranian drones. How would Putin and his cronies sell that to the public? We’re in a war where our fuel infrastructure is being attacked so we decided to sell our finite resources to our biggest enemy. Not to mention, with Russia’s recent postering, it appears they’re trying to make moves on the Baltic states to test NATO’s resolve. America isn’t going to simply hand Ukraine over to Russia in exchange for diesel because that would be catastrophic for the Republican party going into the midterms.

Remember when he said the US was going to stop getting its potash from Canada and instead get from Belarus? Then that all fell apart because Belarus doesn’t have nearly enough to meet America’s supply and demand and only Canada does, so he backed down and accepted that the US will still have to rely on Canada for potash, and then now just a couple weeks later Elon is openly advocating for Alberta and Saskatchewan (two provinces that contribute greatly to potash) to secede?

Id just like to point out this is actually the real legal definition of treason as verbatim in the american constitution.

Ive been openly calling trump a traitor since 2016 and republiclansman would always "bhut uhm akchusally" about the definition(because America's definition of treason is different then the real definition specifically to protect traitors).

But anyways this actually verbatim in the constitution treason. No iffs or buts about it.

USA is EXPORTING diesel fuel right now.

Trump could just tell oil companies to lower the price of diesel fuel sold to consumers in USA and sell the rest at higher price to get even.

But he's an irrational coward, he's always ready to shaft those that are not uber rich, but he's very afraid of those he believes are "powerful" (either "old money" or people like Putin).
