GoFundMe for Dennis Anfuso, writer-illustrator of non-canonical Oz books
I am a longtime friend of Dennis Anfuso, a writer and illustrator of several non-canonical Oz books. Here is Dennis's entry on the Oz Wiki:
https://oz.fandom.com/wiki/Dennis_Anfuso
Back on March 4, an accidental fire at the Anfuso home killed Dennis's wife, Linda, and severely injured him:
I am trying to help Dennis while he heals by spreading the word about a GoFundMe another friend of his set up for him:
https://www.gofundme.com/f/help-dennis-rebuild-after-tragic-house-fire
I would be very grateful if anyone who sees this would please consider donating to the GoFundMe. Thank you!

We've had a lot of spam from users named FirstnameLastnameNumber posting dumb tshirts. For now, I've increased the spam filter settings for link posts. Does having a heart/brains actually mean anything or is it all just a placebo/confirmation bias?
In the original oz books, the heart and brains given to the tin woodman and the scarecrow are placebos given to them to make them feel better, as they already had the qualities they were looking for from receiving those.
But throughout the series we meet many more crafted people (not sure what exactly the fandom term is), whose brains and hearts appear to do something. The seeds in each of Jack Pumpkinhead's heads consist of his brains and he says he knows he needs a new head when he feels them shift as the inside rots. Tik-Tok's metal brains require to be wound frequently in order for him to function. the glass cat's narcissism is blamed on having a brain too fancy and a heart made of ruby. the patchwork girl's erratic behavior and lack of social filter is blamed on her brains being unbalanced due to Ojo just dumping a bunch of brain material in it, and her apparent lack of empathy (which isn't entirely true) is blamed on her lack of a heart.
Is it all just confirmation bias/a placebo?
What do you think?

Dorothy's eyes [citation needed]
The Oz wiki claims that Baum described Dorothy as having "sapphire blue eyes," but I did a word search through all fourteen of his Oz books and can't find a single reference to the color of her eyes, so right now, it feels like something somebody made up. Unless someone has evidence confirming it, that entry should be really changed. I know it's kind of a minor thing, but it's bugged me for a while. I try to be relatively faithful when I draw the Oz characters, but I'm not sure I can 100% rely on the wiki for accurate info.

My fancast for a potential Wizard of Oz remake✨💚🌈
I've been seeing a lot of discussion about a possible Wizard of Oz remake and I'm curious who everyone would cast! This isn't about whether or not there should be a remake (I know it's a controversial topic) - I'd just love to hear everyone's dream cast. Here's my personal fancast:
My personal Fancast
Dorothy: Alisha weir or Summer H. Howell.
Glinda the good witch: Amy Addams.
The wicked witch of the west: Sarah Jessica Parker.
The Scarecrow: Mike Faist
The Tin man: Tom holland
The cowardly lion (just a voice over role cause I think he should be an actual lion like in wicked): Colman Domingo or Daniel Radcliffe
The wizard: Jeff Goldblum or Steve Martin

This would make for a great 5 seasons and 8 episodes a season.
Do you agree?

The Oz reimagining 15-year-old scifi book nobody knows about...
The Wizard of Oz is retold science-fiction/speculation style in Charlie's Trips, with Dorothy replaced by a teenage soldier named Charlie who ends up on the West Coast 21 years ahead, after being taken away by a tornado, his memory lost but replaced with visions of the future.
This came out online in... 2011 (!)

Ok so here’s an oc I dreamed
the design is based on Skottie Young’s Growleywog design
i saved the templet because I think the design is cool and the Growleywogs are underrated though if I use it again I won’t call the species growleywogs, the books Baum wrote may be public domain, but still he thought of the name not me…plus I don’t think the comic the design came from is public domain itself so…

Mildly stupid question
if we make characters based on an Oz character, would that be ok to post here?

Looking for scans of The Emerald City Mirror
It was the old magazine for one of the Oz clubs, but I can’t find an archive of it online. They had original short stories, games, essays, pictures, etc.

5 Toy Factory plus Oz dolls
I've no room so looking to unload these as quick as possible. Google says they are valued between 75-125 but make me a fair offer and they're on the way to you.

Proof the Great Pumpkin isn’t real
Dorothy: Well we searched the whole Earth all day and night literally the sun already went to sleep
Alice: Yup this is the last pumpkin field Earth on this planet
Cricket: And no sign of the Great Pumpkin
Tilly: I guess Linus was rong there’s no Great Pumpkin
Alice: Yeah yet the Peanuts gang call Charlie Brown a blockhead
Dorothy: (dial the phone) Hey Linus guess what we searched every pumpkin field Earth and we never found the Great Pumpkin…….No we will not check again…….Because it’s not real (hang up)
Owls hooting
Alice: Well we should be
Cricket and Dorothy: (sleeping)
Tilly: Guess all that searching tired them both out
Alice: Yeah but at least the 4 of us got to do something fun together
Tilly: (cover Cricket with a blanket) Yeah I’m glad we got to do this together
Alice: (cover Dorothy with a blanket) Me too
Tilly: Yup this was a fun Halloween good night Alice
Alice: (yawn) Good night Tilly

A tad curious if anyone knows
Not sure if this is the place to ask, I have a particular itch to find a very specific theater production of the wizard of oz for the lions song if I only had the nerve. Used to be on YouTube but kinda lost at this point. The key things I remember it had a small stage, it was a mixed age production pretty sure it was mainly a adult cast, it was one with a child playing toto crawling around on the floor, it might have been multi camera though I primarily looking at the back of the head of the actress to played Dorothy.

Dorothy wasn’t the only one caught up in that twister, Miss Gulch was as well and while Dorothy went over the rainbow to Oz, Miss Gulch was dropped into Mede lake and drowned

Twister scene
When Dorothy and Toto are in the house during the tornado scene, they not only come across Miss Gulch on her bicycle, but also an old lady knitting in her rocking chair, and 2 men rowing a boat. I was wondering, who could the 2 men and old lady might be??

My pitch for a wizard of Oz TV series: Dorothy gale, defender of Oz
This isn't really tied to the classic movie, it's moreso the general consensus of the Oz franchise, but here's my pitch: it stars an adult Dorothy, who has gone on many adventures in Oz and gained more magic artifacts than the ruby/silver slippers. And the intro goes like this, we get a narration from (not-not) the wizard explaining that Dorothy gale after her first adventure in Oz lived a normal life in Kansas, with Dorothy doing some normal things, before a twister pans into frame, and the narrator says that she also still explored Oz, and now, whenever a twister arrives, that's her que to save the day. And then Dorothy and toto run into the twister, and Dorothy gets a magical girl sequence of all her fancy Oz items Appearing as the actors/voice actors get credited, with the sequence ending with her ruby/silver slippers, and her landing in Oz, where the episode proper begins, glinda gives her the lowdown on the threat, she unites with the lion, scarecrow, and tin man who are the ones who hold the fort till Dorothy can actually stop the threat, they face the specific villain of the episode, and after the day is won Dorothy clicks her slippers and we get a de-transformation sequence over the credits, ending with Dorothy getting back to the thing she was doing before dipping to Oz. So what do you think?
