The Witcher 3 TW3 Shouldn't require an internet connection to load your local saves

Post image

I've noticed an odd issue with the remaster, if the game can't establish a connection to mod.io, players can't load their existing local modded saves, at least on consoles. You'll get the "there is a connection issue with the mod.io server" error message. I've been told this issue is not present on PC.

This might not affect most players, but some people may be temporarily unable to connect to the internet or mod.io's servers for reasons beyond their control.

The bigger concern is what happens if mod.io's servers go down. You'd be unable to play your modded single player game that you paid for, despite having all your mods downloaded locally and available on your device, simply because the game can't establish a connection to an external service.

I think this is something that should be addressed in a future patch. If you'd like to request this change please report it to CDPR using this support page

Edit: This effectively imposes an always online requirement for mod.io modded saves which is unnecessary and restrictive for a single player offline game. I don't believe this is intended game behavior as CDPR themselves said players should be able to access their modded saves offline with the required mods installed.

I was soooo curious as to what "lilacs and gooseberry" smells like and bought a sample of this to try. It smells like laundry detergent. Or some random hotel bathroom soap. It's truly terrible

Discussion How would you react if in the witcher 4. It's was reviled that Gaunter O'dimm was actually apart of some pantheon of entities?

Post image

So, i saw a post before talking about was O'Dimm lying when he told Geralt that leaning the truth about him is dangerous.

And it got me thinking. What if O'dimm rules are not just for his own fun. But, someone actually enforces them?

Which made me think how it would be an interesting idea if there are actually higher entities in the the witcher universe. Who are just playing games with mortals. Like the Fay from dnd and Irish and Walsh mythology.

Creatures bound by rules and games who can only interact with the world via deals.

For me i think it would expand on O'dimm lore. With out basically over runing the mystery. But, what do you guys think?

Discussion So classic version 1.32 is still the best right?

Pretty much the title, dont have a beefy system (RTX 3050ti laptop basically). Played around with DLSS and MFG enabler mod for 30 series GPUs, getting great FPS but image stability is very poor even without FG.

- Screen Space Shadows has too many artifacts and disabling it takes away a lot from the grass fixtures

- SSR high is too demanding and low is extremely unstable

- I am one of the few people who loves hairworks especially on trophies like the griffin ones, Geralt's beard and fur on animals like bears, wolves, etc and NPC clothing like Crach's cloak. They really butchered and downgraded the implementation in 4.01 aka Next Gen version, but now it's extremely reliant on Path Tracing and still looks so odd and default hair glows in the shade for some reason (Try it in B&W, it's really distracting)

- And lastly I miss the swaying trees in the classic version, no one talks about this

Am i being overly negative? I acknowledge the good things both the remastered and next gen version introduced and it is too big a list to go through here but we lost a fair bit too I feel from the orginal. Thoughts?

PS: Like it or not we HAVE to get used to the remastered version as I think the new expansion will only be compatible with this version 🥺

The Witcher 3 Why is she old?

Post image
268 Upvotes

So I'm trying to wrap my head around how the curse works? If she aged in the background while cursed she should have instantly died once it was lifted, but if her biological age was frozen she should have returned the age she was cursed at?

Additionally, it doesn't seem to line up with other transmutation curses like the tree where the cursed one dies and when freed they just become a ghost.

The world of witcher is real dark and bittersweet so I felt like maybe they did this to give us a "little" bit of a happy ending for this? But now the question is, how long of her lifespan does she realistically have left? Did lifting the curse set her at 100 or does she look 100 but still has the lifespan of her original age?

Everything is perfect.

This introduction tells us everything we need to know about Letho without him saying a single word. He is brutal, ruthless, and an unstoppable force. The only thing we don't know yet (at this point in the story) is why. And this music? GODDAMN, this music! It's so perfect. A calm yet epic track that perfectly mirrors Letho's movements and grace.

This introduction alone makes Letho a far more compelling and interesting character than Eredin ever was.

Honestly, if you haven't played The Witcher 2 yet, go play it. It has some of the best set pieces and the best story in the entire trilogy!

I never played The Witcher 1, so this is the first time I met Shani. Gotta say, I think she's my favorite out of all Geralt's possible love interests, permanent or temporary. The Dead Man's Party quest and the wedding at the end were amazing and so much fun.

I was curious about this myself, looked it up didn’t find any posts about it so i decided to do it myself

If you are experiencing the game for the first time I would advise against pursuing armor dyes because they aren’t unlocked until the blood and wine dlc

The Witcher 3 I love the remaster, but something is seriously wrong with the non ray traced lighting.

Firstly, I know there's been a lot of negativity for the remaster in the last couple weeks, but I think it's important for us to talk about this. The game was fine before, but it isn't anymore.

I've encountered quite a few minor gameplay bugs (bisected enemies just standing there as if nothing happened is a favorite of mine), but those are mostly just funny. What's really bothering me is the visuals when ray tracing is disabled.

It feels like the lighting was entirely remade to accommodate RT, but they forgot to actually test what it'd look like without RT. This has caused some shadows and interiors to look way too dark. Then there are the random patches of nearly pitch black shadows appearing where there shouldn't be shadows at all, and interior shadows "leaking" to the outside of their buildings.

Toussaint looks way too saturated, too. It's always been more colorful than the other areas of the game by design, true, but that's not what's going on here. The colorful regions there used to look stunning and like something out of a painting. Now, not so much. Anyone can just go there and disable RT to see what I'm talking about. Use photo mode to get a view from above Bouclair, and the issue becomes even more apparent.

As I said, all of this seems to be fixed by enabling RT. The problem with that is that not everyone (the majority of players, I'm willing to bet) has a GPU capable of handling RT without taking an absurd hit to performance — I have an RX 7600 and can run the game on a mix of high/ultra+ settings (FSR set to Native AA) at ~75-80fps, but the moment I turn RT on, even with all of its optional settings disabled, my FPS drops by more than half.

Art Witcher 4 Ciri painted scale bust

Thumbnail

Hello, I'd like to share a recently finished artwork of mine, where I painted Ciri as she appears in the Witcher 4 teasers. The sculpt is by "Tanuki Figures", originally sold as an STL file in 1/6 scale. A friend of mine resized the bust section to about 15% smaller. So this finished work is somewhere around 1/10 scale. Painted in acrylics, with some oil paints for the eyes. I hope you enjoy.
