Almost every time these days. " I made" = "Claude made and literally zero human input"

Not sure I'll ever get on board with the idea that if you have an idea but not the skills to actualize it you should shut up... I feel like while the rest of us coders are shitting on AI and AI generated code, non coders are just 👍🏽👍🏽 and building their stuff. Is the stuff 100% good and secure? Nope. Will it make them money? Nope. But does it work to solve a need they have that they couldn't get a coder to help? Yes... Absolutely yes... Ai has allowed people with an idea but no clear path to actualize it to lead with their creativity. And I respect that.

What gives meaning and value to what you create is the effort you put in it. If you don't put effort in it, then you create nothing.

Are you sure?

I don't entirely agree that you can boil down something as complex as meaning of anything let alone art and human expression to only 1 thing.

More likely meaning is derived from a complex array of factors among which yes effort would play a part.

Creativity is another factor I think contributes to meaning. Of which for me I believe AI doesn't entirely infringe when a non coder uses Ai to build an app.

This person has an idea. A thought of which they feel they can't find anywhere in the way they envision it. That part is what I consider the creativity.

Sure they spend 0 effort to learn the skill and minimal effort to deliver the vision to reality but to say they did nothing assumes even that idea isn't theirs.

I'd argue actually alot of humanity is like this. Steve Jobs did t create apple with his own 2 hands. He had the vision and had other people execute it. He didn't put in as much effort as he would have if he did it all himself. So with that analogy is apple not valuable or meaningful?

Steve Jobs still required some pretty intense amount of knowledge to properly command and maintain those people though. One concern I have with AI is how the barriers have dropped so low now, that people lacking even the most rudimentary capacity for what they want to make are able to flood platforms with no-effort content.

Many mediums have long mocked the 'ideas guy' for generally just being a fountain of useless concepts that have no basis in reality or capability. Since the AI boom we are now apparently supposed to treat the ideas guy with respect, even if they just put a few sentences in a chat and let the agents go ham on it until it vaguely represents what they wanted.

And worse, when the AI likely spits out a just barely usable result, it's treated like it's fine, while any human in that situation would likely be demanded of reworks and rereworks to make it exactly like the ideas guy had it in their head.

Yes, and btw the hard part of developing software wasn’t about coding, it always ways about designing understanding and choosing which feature to implement.

But if you want to have good ideas and design you still have to study, not syntax as before but software design.

Personally as a PhD in Data Science I am happy I can dedicate more time in studying the fundamentals and the theory of what I am doing the just coding on shitty python libraries all day, I fricking hate Matplotlib and fucking PyTorch so annoying !

It doesn't matter that the idea is theirs. They don't realise it. A machine does. Using the skills and uniqueness of someone else. They'll never get something how they envisioned it because they didn't do it. Coordination with a team of creators is not comparable to ai image generation.

Agree to disagree I guess

I'm not sure we can agree to disagree on what gives value to a media. Mere aesthetic and functionality do not determine the quality of a media.

Oh I agree... There's alot that gives media value. Agree it's not just that. It's alooot of stuff. But it does include that in some capacity. And so what vibe coders do can't be 100% valueless.

Edit... Also idk what to do here... Never seen someone refuse to agree to disagree?...
