I grew up with narcissists for parents. I'll take that over drunk Slavic single dad any day.

I love your comics, BTW. I love the dark, in your face sense of subjective humor in Slavic storytelling.

The grass is always greener on the other side

u/Low-Plastic1939 Apr 20 '26

Unless it’s Russia

175

u/charcole- Apr 20 '26

Are these like real experiences or is it just a character?

153

u/jesse6225 Apr 20 '26

If this isn't real, then op has an amazing talent. Because these two pgs made my heart ache.

There is no way these aren't lived experiences.

62

u/CheesecakeScary2164 Apr 20 '26

I try to joke about it but balding at 19 sucked A LOT, I'm 36 and I still fucking hate it. So yeah, this is pretty real.

I am so glad I had my kids though, best not wearing a condom mistake.

32

u/RainyDayBrat Apr 20 '26

Shave, go full bald! Bald is hot. r/bald

24

u/CheesecakeScary2164 Apr 20 '26

Oh, it's long gone, and bald can be totally hot!! It actually suits me really well... but frankly, I still want my hair back, lol.

2

u/O3Sentoris Apr 24 '26

yup, i feel exactly the same. started balding at 22

6

u/Crush_Cookie_Butter Apr 21 '26

I have an issue with the massive trend toward going bald, mainly with how it focuses on how “hot the guy looks now, omg” etc etc, and not on someone losing what can be a very important part of how they express themselves. If I were prematurely balding at a young age, I would be upset by it because it’s a part of me, and believe it or not, issues with identity aren’t helped by someone going “but you’re so hot without it!!” Feels like tall women being insecure about their height and men being like “well I think tall women are hot so”

Risky click?

2

u/BishonenPrincess Apr 20 '26

Did you risk it?

2

u/PaurAmma Apr 20 '26

Nah, I'm chicken.

2

u/BishonenPrincess Apr 20 '26

Me too. T_T

3

u/Slowest_Mountain369 Apr 22 '26

It's the hand on shoulder meme with bald guys.

2

u/Slowest_Mountain369 Apr 22 '26

It's the hand on shoulder meme with bald guys.

1

u/PaurAmma Apr 23 '26

I believe you.

1

u/Slowest_Mountain369 Apr 23 '26

Ok? I just clicked the link, that easy.

2

u/jesse6225 Apr 20 '26

Damn that's young but it also means that you're alpha af. Pretty sure I read that somewhere.

2

u/BlaineMundane Apr 20 '26

I don't think I get it? I think? First page seems like pretty basic drunk dad abuse. Second is... silly?

2

u/Nuclear_rabbit Apr 21 '26

An ongoing trend with this comic is that the girl's shenanigans and unacceptable behavior are a trauma response to the way her dad treated her.

1

u/BlaineMundane Apr 21 '26

wait, the young grey haired girl is the dark haired adult and not the other young grey haired girl? That makes more sense.

1

u/ChaosMilkTea Apr 20 '26

Real for someone.

2

u/charcole- Apr 20 '26

Yeah i know its just that i wanted to know if it was something that the writer actually experienced

80

u/KataraMan Apr 20 '26

Been there (1st panel), haven't done that (2nd panel)

38

u/RedVillian Apr 20 '26

Haven't done it YET! <3

17

u/Depressed_Cupcake13 Apr 20 '26

That’s right! You got to set goals and one day you too can make a police officer cry!

3

u/VedjaGaems Apr 20 '26

Isn't the police officer her dad?

56

u/Yoyo4games Apr 20 '26

Used to get on online chatrooms and just drop the word bald at nearly anyone on there. An amazing amount of clearly not blad people would immediately and aggressively take the bait.

11

u/cupholdery Apr 20 '26

Lol. Why would they get mad at you when they have hair?

19

u/Cocomorph Apr 20 '26

Empathy.

7

u/PaurAmma Apr 20 '26

Unlikely. More likely is that they were afraid of it happening to them.

1

u/Debunkingdebunk Apr 26 '26

Yeah, you just described empathy...

1

u/PaurAmma Apr 26 '26

No, empathy is more than simply fear for oneself.

3

u/Debunkingdebunk Apr 26 '26

Yeah they understand what it would feel like to be bald, textbook definition of empathy.

38

u/SmoothOperator89 Apr 20 '26

Excuse me while I tell my kids I love them and they're the best part of my life.

7

u/Substantial-Monkey Apr 20 '26

Maybe this comic has it's value, but there's always a significant ammount of comments endorsing her behaviour. So yeah, This Shit Again??

17

u/Mazoc Apr 20 '26

Can someone explain this to me?

48

u/F4nCiC4t Apr 20 '26

So our titular character, Alina, has a rough childhood from her father’s toxic behavior, which ended up in her getting something of a payback as explanation for her wildly inappropriate NSFW behavior in all the other comics. Often with comics including her father, the officer, who in this one she’s calling bald, there’s a flashback scene of her father doing something that she mirrors in a later scene as intentional payback.

Overall her behavior isn’t the best no matter which way you look at it, but I think it’s honestly pretty funny in a twisted “I’ll be way worse than you ever could be all the while having fun while I’m at it”. Not the best thing to do, but Alina’s behavior isn’t as hurtful to others as it is harmful to herself, and she’s been shown in other comics that she’s got close friends.

18

u/Mazoc Apr 20 '26

Thank you. I find it tragic when people pass on bad treatment to others. I might be missing something though, since I’m on the spectrum.

7

u/F4nCiC4t Apr 20 '26

No worries. And I get that, especially when trying to break free of the cycle of toxicity or own your place within tbe cycle. Social cues are just really hard to read sometimes, no matter what.

2

u/OkCluejay172 Apr 21 '26

There are no visual indicators that the characters in the second panel are the same as the ones in the first. Usually comics like this would have something like a shared color palette or some kind of distinct feature that marks them as the same person at different points in time. Otherwise it's just confusing.

Honestly the two don't even look like they're drawn in the same art style.

2

u/Cnumian_124 Apr 20 '26

Ngl without context at first this looked like a "women have worse experiences than men" type of thing, this makes sense tho

50

u/popilikia Apr 20 '26

It's so funny to me how the people who constantly complain about porn comics don't understand that your work turns the idea on its head entirely (not to disparage other works)

You get the most heat, but I think you do a great job diving into what makes those fictional characters plausible. Keep up the good work!

25

u/AnotherBookWyrm Apr 20 '26

The additional thing with these particular ones (not really a fan of the usual NSFW) is the theme of how redeemed one can truly be when one tries to reform their bad character/personality.

While Alina's dad (based on the other few) seems to no longer be the drunken lout that abused her as a child, it is still very clear that his abuse helped shape her into who she is in the present. Furthermore, it is unclear whether he is pretending or genuinely has no idea why she is like this despite that being just about entirely his fault.

Just goes to show that just because someone becomes a better person does not mean all the damage they have done magically disappears.

14

u/popilikia Apr 20 '26

Furthermore it is unclear whether he is pretending or genuinely has no idea why she is like this...

Honestly, the most accurate depiction of dealing with narcissistic, abusive parents as an adult. The other day I was talking about returning a product to Walmart after using it because I only needed it the one time, and my dad goes "that's so dishonest, that's not how I raised you!" Like, buddy... You kicked my ass once because I left a cereal box open 😂

6

u/kingrat1 Apr 20 '26

From what I can see, I think he knows that too. He's alway's gently asking her to not break the law walking around nude or near-nude, etc. I feel like if he were still like that, he'd be directly grabbing and arresting her (or having another officer do it, he appears to be higher ranking) for breaking the law and 'embarrassing him/making him look bad' as a police officer.

2

u/GrigorMorte Apr 20 '26

Yes. For me, it’s a bit jarring, seeing such a beautiful, vibrant comic makes me think it’s going to be wholesome but then you look at it and read the mean interactions, and you’re left thinking "Damn, that happened to me too."

In a way, that justifies the character's actions down the road. After all, fair is fair. She didn't deserve to suffer that as a child, and her father, even though he changed, it's as if karma is chasing him.

4

u/tcroosev Apr 20 '26

Oh I feel lost

2

u/ellie_p0p Apr 20 '26

Livid-Owl I genuinely love your work. Keep it up :)

5

u/BreakfastBeneficial4 Apr 20 '26

OP touched a nerve with this one, yoiks

2

u/MathorSionur Apr 20 '26

Out of all the possible comics, how come this is the one that pisses people off? > .>

Ahhh, right. Figured it was obvious it was her dad, in this situation, and I don't exactly follow these that much either >.>

I dunno, I feel like the position reversal is pretty obvious? Maybe I'm doing that xkcd thing of underestimating the context needed, but I truly do feel like reading this as "she's doing this to a random guy and justifird" feels a touch of a leap

1

u/Blazing_Speeed Apr 20 '26

These are getting increasingly stupid and sad

-8

u/Immediate_Guide_1229 Apr 20 '26

Yeah, these just haven't been good at all.

You see downvotes on your comment and your first thought is "Everyone who disagrees with me here must like animal porn"?

You need therapy, man.

Thanks for finally convincing me to unsubscribe from this garbage sub

1

u/LowContract4444 Apr 21 '26

I've only ever seen this one comic, but judging by the penis lollipop it's very accurate.

1

u/meeanlean776 Apr 21 '26

There’s a quote I remember from when my mom was with this guy; just to be clear, he’s a piece of shit, don’t get that twisted. He assaulted my sister.

One morning, I missed the bus, so my mom had to drop me off at school. Not a big deal; she worked there anyway. He had just finished making her breakfast, a bagel bacon sandwich, and he started going on about how, “Oh, we should sell these at the flea market. I should start a business. Wouldn’t that be nice?”

Without skipping a beat, her response was: “You’re 40 fucking years old. A business is for a young man. Get a fucking job.”

It was obvious cooking was his passion. He also had a very abusive father; like, beaten with wrenches and locked in a shed in the desert abusive. He was also deeply closeted about his sexuality, probably because of his dad. Ironically, they met at a gay bar. He worked as a welder, clearly hated it, and most likely had his love of cooking mocked as “gay” growing up. He ended up projecting a lot of that homophobia onto me; apparently, playing Minecraft at 10 was “gay,” along with basically everything else I did.

That moment just shows how bad things were for both of them. I would never, in a million years, say something like that to someone I supposedly love. And honestly, that fact sends me into this bitter, almost hysterical kind of laughter when I think about this loser; someone who drank away our survivor benefits from my dead dad.

Misogyny vs """"""Misandry"""""" be like. :3

2

u/MusicaReddit Apr 20 '26

Trying to figure out that second panel

4

u/Silent_R Apr 20 '26

Someone was mean to her, so she was mean to someone else, but for some reason, it's supposed to be funny the second time.

6

u/Dudewhocares3 Apr 20 '26

The man she called bald was her father

3

u/Silent_R Apr 20 '26 edited Apr 20 '26

Not challenging you, but genuinely unclear: Is that established in previous comics? How is the reader supposed to know that? Is it implied, and I just missed it?

Edit: Oh, you answered that. Thanks.

-4

u/Total_Support6378 Apr 20 '26

Wow that is some horrid show don't tell, should give up on comics at this point

4

u/Dudewhocares3 Apr 20 '26

I mean it’s not the first comic and it’s been established quite a while ago.

So not really. There’s worse comics

1

u/Numerous_Ganache6739 Apr 22 '26

While ago or not if the readers cannot distinguish between characters it’s not doing a good job.

1

u/Dudewhocares3 Apr 23 '26

I could distinguish it

1

u/Numerous_Ganache6739 Apr 23 '26

Compared to the people in this thread that are confused?

1

u/Dudewhocares3 Apr 23 '26

Seems like it’s just you and a couple others out of the 2k that looked at the post

0

u/Numerous_Ganache6739 Apr 23 '26

You mean already established fan base that knows the context.

6

u/BishonenPrincess Apr 20 '26

Is it supposed to be funny? Or is it supposed to be a character backstory? I didn't think it was funny at all, but I did find it to be relatable. Hurt people hurt people.

2

u/Silent_R Apr 20 '26

Not sure. Some people seemed to find it funny. I get the "hurt people hurt people" part, and agree that's real. But if there's a joke in here anywhere, I obviously don't get it.

0

u/BishonenPrincess Apr 20 '26

I've seen the other flashbacks with the same characters and I think they're meant to be more tragic comedy than "haha funny" comedy. The kind of humor that makes you go "aw damn" and then reflect a bit. That's how it hit me, at least.

1

u/Silent_R Apr 21 '26

Appreciate your take.

1

u/GoodBrotherGrimm Apr 20 '26

Don't forget the dick lollipop. My sides may split.

0

u/HourOfTheWitching Apr 20 '26

Little girl runs crying after being thrown an inordinate amount of abuse from her father and a grown man runs crying because a woman called him bald, and nothing else

5

u/tangential_quip Apr 20 '26

The people in the second panel are supposed to be the same people in the first, just years later in time. Not something you can tell from this comic standing alone.

1

u/DeadZone32 Apr 20 '26

"bald" a most evil curse

0

u/M0useGuy Apr 20 '26

Get his ass!
