Get your FAI Cup final ticket to support the blues

Post image

My understanding is Derry are outselling Waterford roughly 2 to 1 since tickets went on sale today, we need alot more blues fans to even things out.

Its the best day in the domestic calendar & always a great spectacle. If we win a historic final we qualify for Europe next season. It doesn't get any bigger than this!

about the family killed in Waterford

I'm Brazilian and I've lived in the Waterford area for 3 years. Seeing what happened to the family in Waterford yesterday really saddens everyone. I'm from a country where crimes like these have become normal simply because the population remains silent and accepts this "normality." I believe that if the Waterford community does nothing about it, it will become even more normal because the people who committed this horrible act will feel more powerful and authorized to do such things. There are heinous crimes in Brazil, and I know it's a much larger country than Ireland, but my advice to the entire community, which I love very much and am totally immersed in Irish culture, is not to remain silent and to demand that the police dismantle these drug cartels. And if nothing is done, we must be strong to fight against these scoundrels who did this. This could have happened to any of you; you could wake up at 5 am and receive the news that the house of a loved relative has been burned down. We shouldn't remain silent and normalize this by living a normal life. There was even a fight in the streets of Waterford, and while it was happening, people were just filming and doing nothing. What kind of world are we living in?

Some of these bus drivers are heartless, man

Getting on the bus yesterday when some secondary school kid’s card declines, and the bus driver just kicks them off. When I was younger they’d usually let me slide with a “don’t do it again.” So I wind up paying for this kid cause they need to get home somehow.

But how much of a heartless cunt do you have to be to just strand some teenager with no way home?

What in the fuck is going on?

Today has been insane. 4 people lost their lives in a fire in a deliberate arson attack this morning. I walked through town this afternoon and there was a massive fight where chairs were being swung and women being choked against walls where everyone just stood by and watched. One of my friends had to intervene.

Now I was just going home from the cinema and at the end of my estate in Cherrymount got a cone thrown at the back of my legs and two fellas about 16-18 were starting on me trying to provoke a fight.

We been hearing that the town has gone to the dogs for ages now but today it genuinely felt like it has. Apologies for the rant

Where should I do my driving test?

I’m conflicted on where to do my test, I live in Wexford and have spent equal parts of my life living in both Waterford and Wexford, the most recent years have been in Waterford city until last year so I know the town well.

I was gonna book my driving test for Waterford but then my driving instructor (Wexford based) said don’t because Wexford town is apparently easier and the test routes are on the outskirts of town.

Then I ran the idea by my friend and they said their driving instructor in Wexford town said do the test in Waterford because it’s easier. Apparently that instructor said the test routes in Wexford aren’t set routes because they can bring you anywhere, the road markings are faded and some spots have stop signs missing (all which they expect you to know and make up for)

Anyone have a suggestion? I know the waiting list for Waterford is longer but I’d wait if it would be a better chance of success.
Or even if you know of any other county close by like Carlow or Kilkenny that might be worth it, I’d commit to learning the roads there also.

Things to do for a day in Ring?

Well lads. Since I've the day off college I figured I'd head down to Dungarvan and Ring for the day. I've never been to our local Gaeltacht, I doubt there's a huge amount to be doing down there but I wanted to ask if anyone would recommend a nice pub, café, place to take the air and get some photographs, etc. Obviously I'd like to hear and speak some Irish if possible so if there's anywhere I'm likely to find that I'd love to know.

Go raibh maith agaibh!

edit: I'll probably spend an hour or two in Dungarvan as well so let me know if there's any pubs or cafés where I might hear Irish there also

Berkana Bakery

This morning we were looking for a bakery to satisfy our fresh bread cravings. Our initial stop was Seagull bakery but was closed on Tuesdays so we went to the Waterford reddit recommendation - Berkana Barkery in the Quay. Delicious cinnamon rolls and flaky pastry! 🙂 10/10 would recommend 🩵 they even gave us a free cookie! Highly suggest you try their little tarts, its 8 euros for 4 pieces but they were so yum 😋

Dog Owners: Ferrybank, Christendom

If you have a dog and happen to pass by/live in Christendom please be careful. We just found a bunch of mince meat on the grass, where a lot of dog owners walk their dogs.

I normally walk my dog there and it ate a bit before I could stop him. We’re still in shock and trying to stay positive but you can never be sure.

Please be mindful out there.
