We want to make the community aware of issues that have recently increased in frequency.
There are third-party Warframe recruitment websites that collect information from public Reddit recruitment posts and use it to create clan listings without the clan itself having signed up for the service.
In some cases, these services may also copy graphics, recruitment information, or other content from existing posts and use it to populate their own websites.
In other cases, clan representatives only discover afterwards that their clan is already listed and are then expected to "claim" the listing or contact the website operator to have information removed.
With the increasing accessibility of AI-assisted and agentic development, it has become considerably easier for people to quickly launch third-party services around existing communities. The problem comes in when such services disregard platform rules, intellectual-property rights, data-protection requirements, security practices, or the wishes of the communities whose content they are using.
To be clear: posting a recruitment thread on Reddit does not mean that you want your clan represented on every third-party website that decides to collect that information.
If you encounter a website doing this, we recommend the following:
- Check exactly what information has been copied or collected.
- Document the listing with screenshots and links.
- If your recruitment text, logo, artwork, or other original material has been copied, keep evidence showing the original source, especially if you own the copyright to that material.
- Do not feel obligated to join an external Discord server, authorize an application, or provide account access simply to "claim" a clan you already lead or represent.
- Carefully review any Discord OAuth permissions or other account permissions requested by third-party services.
- If you receive unsolicited promotional messages on Reddit, report the message directly to Reddit as spam.
- If you believe a service is improperly scraping Reddit or misusing Reddit content, report it to Reddit.
- If Warframe branding, clan assets, or other Warframe-related material is being used in a way you believe violates Digital Extremes' policies or your rights, you can also contact Digital Extremes Support and provide them with the relevant evidence.
We have already had cases involving clans from this community being listed on third-party services without their prior participation.
We have also received reports of unsolicited promotional DMs being sent to users after advertising for one such service was prohibited here, with the most recent incident occurring yesterday.
Because of this, third-party recruitment websites and clan directories may not be advertised in r/warframeclanrecruit without prior moderator approval.
If you operate such a service and want to promote it here, contact the moderation team first.
If you are a clan representative and discover that your clan is being represented somewhere without your approval, you are also welcome to let us know. We would like to keep track of recurring issues affecting clans in this community.
This is not a request to mass-report, harass, brigade, or contact any particular individual or website.
Reddit, Digital Extremes & your rights
Reddit's current User Agreement prohibits scraping Reddit without Reddit's prior written consent, subject to the crawling permitted by Reddit's robots.txt and other agreements or permissions Reddit may provide.
Reddit's spam policy also prohibits repeated or unsolicited mass engagement. Reddit specifically identifies sending large amounts of unsolicited chat or private messages as conduct that may violate its spam policy.
If you receive promotional DMs you did not ask for, please report the message directly to Reddit as spam.
There may also be intellectual-property and data-protection issues depending on what a third-party service collects and republishes.
A clan name or basic factual information is not automatically protected by copyright. Original recruitment text, artwork, graphics, logos, and other creative material, however, may be protected. Information connected to identifiable individuals, such as usernames or contact information, may also constitute personal data and create additional obligations under applicable data-protection law.
Digital Extremes' Warframe Content Policy states that Warframe and Digital Extremes logos may not be used without express written consent from Digital Extremes. Its policy also asks creators not to use fan creations made by others without permission.
If you believe your content or personal information has been used improperly, document it before requesting removal. Keep the URL, screenshots, your original Reddit post, and any promotional messages you received.

Depending on what information was collected, how it was used, and which jurisdictions apply, you may also have rights under applicable data-protection, copyright, trademark, consumer-protection, or other laws.
For matters involving personal data, you may be able to contact the relevant data-protection supervisory authority in your country. Which authority and which laws apply depends on the circumstances, so please provide them with evidence rather than assuming that every scraped listing automatically constitutes a legal violation.
You have rights. Please make use of them and protect the work you have put into your communities.
