Every GTA brings a new benchmark to the table, and I'm worried that 6 will just be "5 but even better" instead of introducing something new.
GTA: launched the entire subgenre
GTA2: gangs, loyalty bonuses
GTA3: third-person
GTAVC: properties with passive income
GTASA: territories, ambient NPC dialogue based on what you're doing/how you look, gigantic map with no load screens in between areas
GTA4: actual dramatic story, play an illegal alien trying to survive vs a power fantasy like the other games, GPS and unique braking/handling performance per car
GTA5: character-switching mechanic, heists with different outcomes and loot depending on player choices, character special abilities
A lot of younger people today will never know the impact GTA 3 had on the gaming industry when it came out back in 2001. It was like what GTA 6 will be to modern gaming.
I still feel like IV is a step back from GTA:SA. I was very sad when I saw that we are only limited by the city in IV cause I really enjoyed driving around the outskirts in SA
I don’t think GTA6 is going to be as groundbreaking as people expect. Most of the features I’ve seen arent anything new, and some are fairly shallow like fueling a car that people are praising. I think it will be a huge release, lots of good reviews, ill enjoy it a ton, but I don’t see it bringing any huge changes to the industry or the series.
ive seen people talking about how insane some of these "new features" are gonna be, which are features both gta 4 and 5 had like robbing stores, owning property, entering a variety of buildings, playing minigames etc. Some even saying "in heists jason will pick up every bill there is individually" like bro, we literally saw a cutscene in the extended gameplay trailer where a beer magically appears in his hand, get real lol

Hoping the 6th game keeps the trend going!
