My honest ACE Academy Math review: what a regular class actually like
My child joined ACE Academy Math after taking the trial and placement assessment. He was placed in an honors program, so this review is about that track rather than every math course it offers.
The class was a live online lesson with a small group of students and lasted about 90 minutes. The teacher would introduce a topic, work through an example and then give students time to try problems themselves. Students were sometimes asked to explain how they reached an answer, so the class involved more than watching the teacher solve questions.
The most useful moments were when my child had the right answer but couldn't explain his reasoning clearly. The teacher would ask a follow up question or have him show an intermediate step. That made it easier to see whether he understood the idea. The group format also gave students a chance to hear different approaches to the same problem. The teacher would sometimes compare two solutions or ask the class to discuss why one method worked more efficiently than another. That added something beyond working through the questions alone. The placement process was helpful because the course level did not seem to depend only on school grade. The Honors material was challenging, but it generally followed a clear Algebra sequence rather than feeling like a collection of unrelated difficult questions.
Overall, the main value of the ACE Academy math class for us was the combination of a clear course structure, live teacher feedback, and the chance to hear how other students approached the same problem. It gave my child a more interactive way to work through challenging material than studying indepedently.
