The Cambridge Audio Spira may be the new king of budget tables.

It costs less than a U-Turn Orbit, includes electronic speed control, and outperforms the Rega P3 in wow and flutter specifications. On top of that, Cambridge Audio is a more established and reputable brand than Fluance. When you consider the price, it makes a compelling case for being the better buy.

Looking for vintage turntable in Los Angeles

Hi, I’ve been looking into vintage turntables but I’m completely new to vinyl so I’m not sure what are some good models. I would prefer to spend under $250 for the turntable and I’m looking for something that I can grow with that has inexpensive parts that I can easily find later. I’m leaning towards semi-automatic or automatic just because I’m worried of leaving it running for a long time. I have audioengine hd3 speakers that I got for free so I’ll be using those for now until i save more. I can also spend $100 on a pre-amp if needed.

This is one option I’ve been considering.

Is this what skating looks like?

I posted the other day about distortion with a new setup. Now I've tried this. Granted, the rubber mat probably isn't the best thing for the stylus... I won't do it every day.

I thought I'd start from scratch with setting up the table. I've levelled it, 0'd the tracking gauge, set to 2 (I can't find much info on the cart, this is where it was when I bought it though), and set the antiskate to match.

Is this skating? Or just to be expected when an idiot drops a needle on a rubber mat?

Thanks

Just bought a Crosley 6035A but one of the plastic pins was broken. Will there be any quality loss using an rca adapter like the one in the first picture?

Hi everyone!

I ordered this Getting Killed vinyl from Amazon and it came a bit warped as you can see in the video. Is it fine if the record plays normally without skips (it sounds a bit higher in frequency for some reason but I don't really know if it's beacuse of the wrap or not)? Should i return it? Would be glad for your opinion From your personal experiences with warped records. Thanks

Help Help needed - hum/noise from AT-LP60-USB + Schitt Mani 2 + Yamaha RX-V4A

I've got a setup that consists of an Audio Technica LP60-USB turnable, into a Schitt Mani 2 preamp, and into a Yamaha RX-V4A home theater amp.

The amp is indeed overkill for the scenario, but it was our home theater amp for our last home. We moved and downsized to a soundbar, but I decided to keep the amp it and move it to my office for music.

I decided to add the Mani 2 to improve the sound quality a couple months back, and it's been a phenomenal addition. However, since adding that, once the amp is on for 10-15 minutes or so, it starts making a hum, like something is unplugged. It only happens on the phono setting, so it's not other inputs.

The hum goes away when the RCA plugs are unplugged from the Mani 2, but if I plug in something else (like my cassette player to it, for example), it comes back. That led me to think it has something to do with the Mani 2 and something that kicks in on it from input sensing.

I contacted Schitt and they thought it might be some sort of power issue. However, I found that if I move the record player (which sits on top of the amp), the buzzing eases up.

So it seems like there is input sensing on the Mani 2, but the power in the LP60 introduces hum into the amp, but only on that setting.

I really don't have another place to put the LP60 or the amp. I might just have to deal. Anyone have any suggestions on any other things I can do?

Suggestions Help with potential new turntable

Hello all, long time lurker here.

So about 2 years ago I bought a Dual CS 503-1

It works fine for the most part but the plate or whatever it's called goes up and down which is noticeable in the sound. I did one of those RPM app tests and the wow-flutter is on 0,78%. I'm going to take it for an inspection but there's a real risk it's not fixeable and/or very expensive to do so.

So I'm wondering if it comes down to it, which turntable should i purchase for around 300usd that could last me a long time? I believe the Dual is pretty good so i'd rather not take a step down in quality if possible. I'm open to buying new and vintage!

Sorry if it's a confusing formulation, english is not my first language.

Hey all, I'm looking for help understanding what's going wrong with my turntable. When I start the turntable using the automatic mode or manually, the arm goes into position, drops, then picks back up and goes to the off position before starting any music.

Has anyone else encountered this? What can I do to remedy this?

Thanks in advance!

Suggestions Turn Table - Table recommendations

I was thinking about getting a 2 x 2 IKEA KALLAX shelf. But I don't know if I should because I heard that the speakers cause vibrations which will damage the vinyl's. The wood isn't super sturdy on IKEA furniture anyways and I'm sure the speakers will cause vibrations.

I plan to have a compact setup in the living room because I don't exactly have a lot of space in my current house. Any ideas on what I should get or how to mitigate damage? I was thinking of getting some rubber pads for my LP70X but I'm not sure if that's enough.

Please let me know! My budget is a bit tight as well but all I want is for my vinyl's to not be damaged a whole lot. I would really like for my turn table to be in the living room as opposed to the basement.

New to turntables and need help

I’m entirely new to turntables and have done some research, but struggling to find a turntable that matches my preferred aesthetic and is still quality at the end of the day. I’m hoping to find a turntable that’s no more than $350 if possible and with a wood grain looking base. If it’s more than $350, I’ll at least consider and save up if needed. I’ll have a separate budget for speakers down the line.

I’ve been looking at RetroLife but I’m not sure of the quality, and AudioTechnica doesn’t have the look I want. Plus I’m seeing a lot of people saying there are skipping issues with them. Pls help :)

Any additional beginner advice is also heavily appreciated!

Question Which one of these turntables would be best?

Looking through used market and I saw these turntables on sale.

- pioneer pl-512 (no cover), 30$

- pioneer pl-200, 120$

- technics q200, 100$

- Dual cs-505-1, 30$

- Yamaha p-350, 150$.

Which ones would you recommend? I'm really trying to frugal Max as I'm just getting into vinyl (and probably too broke to be pursuing this hobby but oh well too late). Should I be avoiding p mounts or anything?

Any other cheap turntables I should be on the lookout for? Solid amount of belt driven technics but I heard I should stick to direct drive technics.

I can do some DIY, but nothing too complicated. Definitely no soldering.

Question Beginner Set-Up: Fluance RT82 + ??

First turntable set-up, based in Canada. Have landed on a Fluance RT 82 and am having a hard time on the other aspects.

Options:

1) Schiit Mani 2 + powered speakers (any reccos under $500 CAD).

2) Schiit Mani 2 + receiver and amp + passive speakers (any reccos for reciever/amp and passive speakers for less than $500 CAD total)

3) a reciever+amp with a preamp + passive speakers (any reccos for preamp/reciever/amp and passive speakers for less than $800 CAD total)

We likely won't upgrade anytime soon. The one hesitation of passive speakers is space (partner probably wont want a receiver as well as the Schiit Mani2). We want to be able to use our speakers to play alternative sources via Bluetooth.

Any feedback/suggestions/reccos are appreciated.

Question How did I do?

New to this and hoping to get some insight on my setup value. The goal was to get in with the bare minimum for a good listening experience and spend the money I saved on a collection.

Used Rega P1 (MDF Platter) w/ Ortofon 2M Red - $350

Vintage Technics SA-400 Receiver - $100

Vintage pair of Realistic Nova 10 - $15 ($60 after surround repair)

All in: $510

Is this a good purchase?

I saw a Technics SL 1200 Mk5 at my local shop, no dust cover or cartridge for $400.

Im in the market for a new turntable (upgrading from a very low end turntable) so that I can have a better listening experience and not damage my higher end collection of vinyls Ive recently acquired.

Is $400CAD a solid price for this unit? The only issue the owner stated was pitch control is a little off and could use a service if I want to use the pitch, but im simply listening at 0. He also recommended the AT120XUSB, but im not certain on that one.

Any input is appreciated! Im highly motivated to pick up something nice for myself as this year has been a rough one.

Cheers everyone

BSR Turntables

I recently got into fixing up old 1970's Stereos with BSR turntables for a hobby. I have read that new vinly will mess up over time. Is this something I need to worry about? I have bought several new albums along with some old and I do not want to tear my new stuff up.

A few days ago I was at my mom's house and she told me she had alot of vinyl records in her basement so I went to check it out.

I was already listening to 30's music on Spotify so ofcourse I was searching for music like Glenn Miller etc. In her collection.

She doesn't use a record player anymore so I wanted to get one for myself and listen to her collection.

Since I already had studio monitors and an audio interface hooked on my pc , I figured I just needed a turntable and a preamp.

So i got a Erres 5677 ( which is basically a Philips AF-677) and a cheap pre amp (fosi audio box x2).

Which resulted in my current setup 😊.

Only thing I want to change in the future is to be able to listen to records without having turn on my pc and switching the 2 Jack's if I want to use my mic while gaming.

Question Second Hand Vintage, advice needed for a Beginner

Thumbnail

Hello everyone,

I went through Vinyl and this Subs highlited posts and Links and could not find information on a specific turntable. Besides 2 or so posts of how they restored one.

I found at a secondhand store a "Hitachi HT-460 Automatic" turntable for 60 bucks. I plan on for some time to step into the Vinylgame but did not really focus on yet.

What should I be looking at to determine if a turntable is in good shape? Maybe also ask if I can turn it on an le naybe play a Vinyl?

I looked online and did not find anything. Is this a good deal?

Any brands in Vintage to look for a maximum amount you would spend?

I am located in Germany/Switzerland.

Dual 1246. A small query

I own a dual 1246 turntable. The so called plinth has a wooden trim along the sides. I wanted to know how is this wooden trim attached to the platic trim and how can it be detached as i plan to make some cosmetic changes.
