Discussion Toronto Ticketmaster Comisseration Crowd

EDIT:

EVERYBODY COME TO THE HILL BEHIND THE STAGE, WE HAVING OUR OWN PARTY AND THE VIEW FOR FREE 99 IS CRAZY GOOD

So it's pretty obvious at this point that TM is up to their usual fuckery and is refusing to release tix for under $100 - those of us familiar with their system know this isn't a tech glitch and they're doing it on purpose.

For those of us refusing to bend to corporate greed, where y'all gonna be watching the show from? Meetup? Discuss.

blame turnstile just as much as you blame TM. this is greed from all parties.

TM is traditionally a cover for greedy artists, true, but the game changed once they started exclusive contracts with venues.

The game hasn’t changed that much, Turnstile’s team chose and approved those prices. The Cure’s $25 ticket tour proves all of this wrong. The artist has final say on ticket prices.

brother the cure can afford to do this as they’ve already made enough money to secure generational wealth 😭 i highly doubt anyone in TS is a millionaire

definitely not. robert smith alone probably has a higher net worth than all 5 TS members combined. the amount of money the average “successful” mainstream artist makes now is a fraction of what it was back in the day.

lol some of them are definitely single digit millionaires. They had like 8 people selling their $65 tshirts for them and there were thousands of people at the show that paid $150 each. Band is making at least 100k per show after expenses conservatively.

As of 2pm yd heard show was at 600k loss. Not sure if last min ticket sales made up for that

1

u/Odd-Kaleidoscope8863 Sep 13 '26

Don’t see how that would be possible. I could see 600k of unrealized profits. I don’t know who would expose themselves to such a massive loss at every show.

Youre an idiot. Its not every show. Pretty sure toronto had highest priced tickets on tour. Way too expensive for what was mostly a hardcore show.

So by that logic their margins would be even thinner at the cheaper shows? That would expose the to even bigger losses. The tickets elsewhere still come out to over $100 cdn. It’s more expensive to see any show in Canada and especially Toronto. Also, turnstile isn’t a hardcore band anymore. They’re just a pretty successful band. They won a Grammy and have Elton John covering their song.

2 of the other bands were hardcore bands and they are effectively a shitty snapcase ripoff band, with less talent and creativity. So, still a hardcore band

If you wanna believe that sure, they’re one of the popular and mainstream rock bands at the moment. That’s not a slight to them but let’s not kid ourselves

you should see how much artists money make now compared to when the cure was at its peak… i’m telling you, if you put all of TS net worths together, they’re not worth more than robert smith

The price is a direct reflection of their booking agent’s negotiated per show guarantee.

Nah the bands are all our friends who'd totally do it for free if they could. Can't be putting any blame on them now. TM bad and that's all there is to it.

How do you expect bands to make money these days when they make next to nothing on streaming ??(the most popular way people listen to music now) Touring is how bands survive. TM is the evil corporation here jacking up fees and using predatory practices. Turnstile wouldn't want you as a fan.

People are reselling for cheaper if you keep checking. Saw someone sell for 91 this morning, 89 by noon. I sold my friends ticket for 100 this morning since he can’t make it today as well.

4

u/Anagrama00 Sep 12 '26

Honestly even at 90 it's overpriced IMO.

I love Turnstile but they play like 70 minute sets. I don't care about the openers.

Last time I saw em at History which is a fantastic venue with great sound I paid like 50

u/Ohsnapboobytrap Sep 12 '26

Pretty sure they said the price is because they need to build a stage since it’s at Woodbine. I’m not happy about the price either but I get it.

I get that and I commend them for picking a unconventional venue that has plenty of GA.

That said, the undercard has a few random non-rock acts that aren't big draws IMO which doesn't exactly strengthen the case to pay $150 for a show

If you're a headlining act and you play shorter sets than most rock bands and your undercard is weak and you're asking 3x what your literal last shows in Toronto cost.... No surprise the show didn't sell that well. I get costs have gone up but the whole idea of a hardcore band doing $150 shows is just dumb.

0

u/badmitch888 Sep 13 '26

you clearly don't know music if you are talking about the "undercards" like that.

lol dude. I'm embarrassed for you.

Those prices are displayed but once you get to checkout, they "disappear" everytime. Weirdly no check out problem if you're trying to buy the "resale" right now at $120 🤔

Use the website and not the mobile app.

1

u/impendinganalysis Sep 12 '26

Oh buddy, I've been using everything. Didn't even work on a $105 ticket just now.

1

u/tewiti1108 Sep 12 '26

Aww damn. I'm so sorry. That's how I got a ticket. I hope you get one too.

Iiiiinteresting 🤔

Go sit on the hills behind the food trucks. Perfect view.

3

u/Syllaberries Sep 12 '26

Oh my god you weren't kidding

4

u/Sorry-Account-2626 Sep 13 '26

I’m inside near the merch tent (lit under east pavilion); idk if there’s external fencing security but the security inside and between merch and food trucks from here seems few and far between, not paying attention, and appearing not fast so if anyone climbs the fence and sprints into the crowd they probably make it

6

u/Anagrama00 Sep 12 '26

I am planning on arriving at Woodbine by like 7 no matter what and trying to either find a good spot to hear the show or buy a last minute ticket or sneak in.

4

u/plinketto Sep 12 '26

There's literally a hill behind the venue facing the stage with a decent view. Few people already there. Kinda bs for the people who paid though but enjoy

3

u/Anagrama00 Sep 12 '26

Anyone walked around the perimeter of the venue? Any gaps? How tall are the fences?

2

u/something__someone Sep 12 '26

Fences are average fence height covered by black tarp ish material. You could definitely watch from the hill behind the barrier. There's a section for merch and food trucks. May be hard to get by security but 🤷‍♀️

u/BaroniVibes Sep 12 '26

Looking for 1 tix max $80. I can pay cash and meet up downtown or near the park.

2

u/paintfrogs Sep 13 '26

Damn, I ended up working tonight anyways but had I known about the hill being a free alternative I 100% would’ve come down 💔 absolutely couldn’t justify the ticket prices

1

u/Automatic_Contract47 Sep 12 '26

I listed below face on TM and noticed they made it 1$ more than their regular price. I ended up selling on StubHub for about 120$ a piece(I recouped 95$ per ticket)

u/LifeReward5326 Sep 12 '26

He’ll ya, what is the closest intersection??

1

u/impendinganalysis Sep 12 '26

Coxwell and Queen St E, tons of free parking next to the park.
