It looks like they're bringing back world wonders in Tropico 7. It also looks likely want to use different ones than we're in Tropico 6. I have an idea for a few they could include.
The Hollywood sign: increases the effectiveness of movie theaters and TV stations.
The Chrysler building: increases the speed of all road vehicles.
The Burj khalifa: reduces construction costs.
The pyramid of Tenochtitlan: removes the cost or negative consequences of having people killed.
The Sydney Opera House: increase the effectiveness of radio stations and music venues.

What I mean is an edict or constitutional change where the state stops managing part of the companies of the nation and becomes part of the private initiative, or add options such as selling plots for foreign investment. And if you nationalize a major foreign company, foreign powers will disagree and send elements to try to overthrow you.

Since Tropico 7 is still on the horizon, I've been thinking about how the political and unrest systems could be overhauled for the next game. Right now in the series, political unrest often feels a bit generic or overly tied to basic happiness metrics.
I’d love to see a much more realistic approach where riots are chaotic and faction-driven and coups are tied strictly to military loyalty. Here is how a dynamic system like that could work:
Separating civil unrest (Police handling chaotic faction riots) from military power struggles (Army loyalty and coups) would make managing El Presidente's regime feel far more grounded and strategic.

For me, I have a “waste nothing” attitude and it gets annoying when a mine or land suitable for plantations happen to be under a bunch of trees. Sure, I can ignore the forest and build immediately, but that’s a bunch of free resources (wood) going up in smoke. I also find the lumber mill and shipyard to be a nice backbone for your economy up to the Cold War era. Besides, I can always destroy the logging camps once I cleared the area.
But I feel it takes way too long to clear an area, even with 2-3 logging camps at max budget

Hello!
I'm a new Tropico (6) player, though I have played about 20 hours so far. Ever since discovering the trading post the game has felt braindead easy to me, even on harder settings. I've never had a rebellion, only once had an ultimatum after accidentally deleting every residential building on my island, and I'm rarely ever close to losing an election. It's honestly getting a bit boring, I need a better challenge (for sandbox at least). What are some fun ways to make the game harder that aren't just "Intentionally tank communist standing"?

The main issue im having right now is my bank account. And it all starts with my production.
First its out of stock. And occasionally i had full stock, but i resolved that with a warehouse. But for out of stock i dont know what to do. I increased my budget which seems to help, but then exporting seems to be an issue. Like i get i cant export if im out of stock, but some items dont have that and my exporting time is still slow if anything at all. I doubt a trading route is supposed to last for years.
I try to build what would help, but missions tend to get in the way. Like i had one mission to build a tavern 3x. Ok easy enough lets do it. I got a sugar plantation but thats not send to produce anything. I have a rum production but thats always out of stock, but i never see any issue with my taverns.
I tried to get steal so i can make weapons, but by the time i was done with that, i had no money left. By the time i do have money (which i have yet to make it past 20k), i have another quest to build something else. At one point, i had a quest to build a fishing area, but i declined that because i was out of money.
I managed to build an embassy so i could request aid, but im more focused on making any money, so i just export what i think i can, but always takes forever. I had a quest to import, which i rarely do, but the only one available for that specific quest was $17k and now im stuck in the negative. The freights come in no more than 20k and now its at 17k. I get financial aid, which was helping at first but since the import, it helps little. What am i doing wrong?

Hi all,
I keep getting import requests from the superpowers, and that -5 affinity modifier means I can't reject them endlessly. However, I also can't afford to import stuff every time I get a request for it because it's early in the game and my economy is constantly living on the edge, so I figured I'd try to import whichever ware causes the lowest possible loss for me.
However, I can't figure out what the cost of something actually is. Using coal as an example, there are three variables I assume I need to care about:
- Standard Cost per 1K units
- Route Cost per 1K units
- Total extra charge
I expect standard cost is what I pay for 1K units, meaning that the lowest possible import at 1800 units would come out to $4,320. The $1,728 is the +40% deviation, so I will pay a total of $6,048 for the coal.
But what is Route Cost, and how is it added? Is it per unit, or per 1K units? Will importing 1800 units add a route cost of $6,048 (3360x1.8), or will it add $6720 (3360x2)?

It seems like the military is largely a complete waste of money. There's military police so I guess you could have a dual military/police force, however I generally never have rebel attacks or foreign invasions and police stations are much cheaper. Even the "militarist" faction doesn't really do much even on pacifist state they only ever ask me to build roller coasters.
Is there anything you can actually use them for productively?

To join, you must have the Middle East version of the game; I can't play co-op with people who have the European or American versions—it's just stupidity on the company's part.

I escaped the island after being framed for the assassination of not-Kennedy, got the world leaders denouncing me and swore revenge, only to be sent back to Mission 1 on St. Clara with my campaign erased and later missions unavailable. Help?

i read about it and seen it in videos but i dont really understand it. i understand that is about putting crops next to each other so they overlap and get the efficiency bonus but should i not care about the soil quality when putting them down? im been trying to find a patch where the soil quality is green enough for all crops, but should i not do that? should i just put some of the crops on red soil quality just to get the bonus from multiculture?

The Final Milestone: Successfully reached a population of 10,040 with an unemployment rate of 0.40% (40 unemployed citizens) and only 15 homeless families remaining.
Execution Strategy: Built out enough housing capacity and job infrastructure to cover the ~1,000 population gap. Once the space and vacancies were ready, hired over 1,000 foreign workers to instantly fill the open positions and hit the target.
Islands Limits & Potential: While pushing to 11k or 12k seems technically viable with this method, the island is pretty much fully developed, so 10k was the perfect stopping point.
Takeaways for Future Runs: Pushing past 9,000 population relies heavily on brute-forcing foreign worker hires rather than organic growth. Moving forward, 9,000 population feels like the ideal sweet spot for natural gameplay.
Next Steps: Planning to explore some DLCs in future playthroughs once I get a chance to pick them up!

Over ten years ago I was very active on this sub as a kid who loved Tropico 4, I remember pre-ordering 5 and in fairness I’ve got a couple of hundred hours in that and had a good time with it but I remember even with all the mods it did not compare to 4. 6 came out and I opened it and didn’t do much with it, it could be that I’m getting older and games don’t hit the same but I’m still very curious about all those old memories. How does 4 hold up today? i’d probably buy all the DLC in this steam sale, but before I do wanting to hear how much you guys think its worth it. Thank you! :)

Mis queridos presidentes!
I know Radio Tropico's choice of music is perfect (thanks, el presidente!), but just in case you need some new tunes, i made a playlist. Hope you enjoy it!

Was there anything special about the 3rd installment that made it different than later Tropicos?
