So basically I've been voice training off and on with varying degrees of success for the past 6 years. I've tried so many things, but my biggest difficulty is and always has been getting my trained voice to become my "natural" voice. Whenever I'm not thinking about it, whenever I haven't done my vocal warm-ups, whenever I have a longer conversation... my voice always goes back down.
Granted, there has been incremental improvement over time. Listening to recordings of my voice from 6 years ago is kind of surreal, actually! Like, I can't believe I used to sound that deep and monotone. Recently, I've actually started getting some compliments on my voice training even when I don't think I sound my best. That being said, my resting voice is still in no way "cis-passing", and there's a huge gulf between what I know I can do and what I normally sound like.
So yeah, I've been feeling pretty depressive about this lately... if you are someone who has been through this and come out the other side with a voice that you liked, please share what worked for you. anything at all. thanks!!!!
