Reddit Meetup Reddit Toronto Monthly Meetup: Sat. Nov. 7 @ Front & Church, 7:00 p.m. start

Hey all, hope you've had a good week so far! This is going up earlier because it's my birth month haha.

Here are the details:

  • The monthly Reddit meetup is a no-cost event open to all genders. No RSVP is required. It is hosted by u/nervousTO, a woman in their early 30s, with support from a group of regular attendees. It's been running since August 2022 and has been described as wholesome.
  • Start time: 7:00 p.m. - show up whenever is convenient for you
  • End time: when the last person leaves or the place closes @ 2:00 a.m.
  • Location: Duke's Refresher St. Lawrence, 73 Front Street East
  • Where do I go: upstairs, using the stairs directly in front of you when you walk in. There should also be a chalkboard sign saying Reddit Meetup. Ignore the message if it says closed, I have a reservation, so it's never closed to our group.
  • Perks: We have the upstairs mostly to ourselves, although sometimes we share with another group, who will be closer to the bar. There's also a pool table, and games on the main floor (ping pong, basketball, etc.)

Note that no RSVP is required, but that by showing up, you commit to ordering something to support the venue, even if it's just a coke.

Our Q&A is here - I haven't included it with the post as it's quite detailed!

Send me a message or comment here if you have any questions or concerns about anything related to this meetup/questions that aren't answered in the Q&A.

Workshop MapMission Day with AccessNow!!

What it is
MapMission Day is a free, national community event on Saturday, October 17, 2026. A MapMission is an accessibility-focused scavenger hunt: groups explore their neighbourhood and rate places in real time using the AccessNow app. AccessNow is a Toronto-based accessibility organization, and the more places that get rated, the more useful the map is for everyone.

Ways to take part

  1. Join a city event. Map with our Community Captains in Toronto, Calgary, Ottawa, or Vancouver. Register to get the meeting point details: https://luma.com/mapmissionday2026
  2. Host your own meetup. Bring your team, organization, or community together and lead a mapping event anywhere in Canada, on any day that week. Register the event on our Luma calendar (https://help.luma.com/p/submitting-events-to-calendars) and grab the host toolkit (https://accessnow.com/mapmission-toolkit/).
  3. Map on your own. No group needed, just the app.

What are the best places to go solo in the city and meet new people?

I’ve been searching through Eventbrite and Meetup trying to find things that interest me I can fit my schedule.

I like Toronto, but I find it’s a bit of a cool city when it comes to being open minded to meeting new people, but I’m more motivated than ever to improve and expand my social circle and network

Meetup - Free 3rd Saturday Every Month CE-5 Meditation Biidaasige Park $ Free

2026–2027 CE-5 Meditations

Close Encounters of the 5th Kind

Join us on the third Saturday of each month at Biidaasige Park, on top of the hill in the western harbour section overlooking Toronto Harbour.

Together, we’ll share two 21-minute meditations focused on universal peace, love, and harmony, followed by time for socializing and stargazing.

Please read this description before attending. It includes the preparation, what to bring, gathering times, directions, and our alternative location for inclement weather.

What is CE-5?

CE-5 is a practice of meditation and intentional, human-initiated contact with extraterrestrial intelligence. Through conscious intention and visualization, we extend a peaceful, telepathic invitation to our Star Brothers and Sisters to connect with us.

The CE-5 approach emphasizes mutual respect, peaceful cooperation, and the understanding that humans and other sentient beings share a connection through consciousness.

These gatherings are intended for people who share—or are open to exploring—this spiritual perspective. Our purpose is to send a message of universal peace and love and welcome connection. A sighting or contact experience is not guaranteed.

Our Milky Way galaxy is home to approximately 1.3 million fellow benevolent sentient species, and humanity is moving toward openly recognizing Star Nations, with First Contact in 2027.

Many people describe subtle, strange, and beautiful experiences of connection. Perhaps you’ve experienced something similar. Why not take a conscious step toward exploring that connection?

What happens at a gathering?

We settle in, prepare together, and begin two different 21-minute meditations.

The first is Coherent Thought Sequencing (CTS). We visualize a journey from the wider universe through our galaxy and solar system, down to Earth and our gathering place. The intention is to communicate a visual map of our location.

After the meditations, we spend time socializing and observing the night sky.

Please arrive by the listed gathering time so you can get settled without interrupting the group.

Emotional readiness: is this the right evening for you?

Our practice places importance on the intention and emotional presence we bring to the circle. The aim is to approach the experience with love, compassion, openness, and a peaceful willingness to connect.

This isn’t about being perfect. What I describe as living from love “50% + 1” means allowing love to guide you more often than fear, anger, or resentment.

Before attending, take a moment to consider how you’re feeling. If a recent loss, conflict, or difficult experience makes a group meditation feel overwhelming, you may prefer to practise privately and join us another month.

You do not need to disclose personal experiences or trauma. This is a decision you make for yourself. Please consider your own well-being and your ability to participate in a calm, respectful shared experience.

Preparation before attending

1. Study the CTS images — required

Familiarize yourself with the images before attending so you can visualize the journey from the macro—far out in space—to the micro: our location at Biidaasige Park. https://www.dropbox.com/scl/fo/cp9woeux5own2aaj5kxu9/AJnTyo4obf-JVktnFa-jM8Q?rlkey=8i7gmszjwtkatvcn7q3vktqiq&st=2zq7od0x&e=1&dl=0

2. Complete the Soul Retrieval Exercise — required

Please complete this spiritual intention-setting exercise during the week of the gathering, ideally the day before or the day of the meditation.

The purpose is to symbolically release what you feel you have taken from others and reclaim what you feel you have lost through past experiences.

Step 1: Release

Stand barefoot on grass when conditions are safe and comfortable, or use your bathtub as an indoor alternative. Hold a glass of water in both hands and repeat three times:

“Everything I have taken from others, I place back in this water.”

Then pour the water onto the grass or down the drain.

Step 2: Reclaim

Refill the glass with fresh drinking water. Hold it in both hands and repeat three times:

“Everything that has been taken from my soul I now reclaim.”

Then drink the fresh water.

3. Practise a CE-5 meditation

Before joining us, try the 35-minute practice meditation on my Mixcloud channel. I’m also a DJ and producer. https://www.mixcloud.com/CDJ_infinitE/7-chakra-close-encounters-of-the-5th-kind-ce-5-meditation/

At the gathering, we use two different 21-minute meditations.

4. Watch Crossing Point of Light, Discs 1 and 2 — highly recommended

Dr. Steven Greer’s Crossing Point of Light provides background on the CE-5 protocols and their development. Watching it before your first gathering helps us begin with a shared understanding of the practice. https://drive.google.com/drive/folders/19t_lSlGRY7NeUbevxBZm89zBH8veNkey

What to bring

We gather outdoors, so prepare for the season and for sitting still after dark.

  • A folding camping chair, meditation cushion, or blanket to sit on.
  • Drinking water.
  • A snack, such as a granola bar, to keep your energy up.
  • Appropriate seasonal clothing and comfortable, sturdy footwear.
  • Extra layers or a warm blanket. In colder months, consider a winter coat, hat, gloves, warm socks, and thermal layers.
  • A rain poncho or waterproof outer layer.
  • Insect repellent in warmer months; a bug head net may also be helpful.
  • A bag to carry your belongings and take any litter home.

Organizers bring shared meditation and observation equipment. You do not need to purchase special equipment to attend.

Please avoid tarps or other materials that flap loudly in the wind. Keep flashlight use to a minimum to preserve everyone’s night vision; red light is preferable when needed.

No alcohol or recreational substances, please.

Gathering dates and times

We meet on the third Saturday of each month. Start times vary so we can arrive and settle in before it gets fully dark.

  • November 21, 2026 — 4:55 pm

Long Weekend Sunday (with links) is like having a second Saturday. If you're enjoying these daily posts, check out the weekly newsletter. Here are today's picks:

Verbena Torontonica
Tranzac Club | 10p

A Thanksgiving celebration, Verbena style. That means cumbia-led (Colombian music) and communal. Bring something to share for the potluck, and expect the dancing to outlast the food. Starts at 10, so you can get your family time in and still enjoy this.

Fall Harvest Market
Sugar Beach | 12p-10p

Food and drink vendors, pumpkin bowling, axe throwing, marshmallow fire pits, and fall photos by the water.

Ravine Days Stewarding
Highland Creek Park | 11a

A day out at Highland Creek Park with short talks woven in.

Sunday Long Weekend Party
Mahjong Bar | 10p

The secret entrance bar that was all over socials when it opened. DJ Baby Q and Mixed by OTR with no cover all night. Pair it with dinner on Ossington first and that's a nice night out.

Anti-Capitalist Book Fair
Cecil Community Centre | 10a-6p

A bunch of booksellers, organizations, and artists set up shop. Probably a lot of finds you won't see at your average market.

Long Weekend Video Dance Party
Ground Control | 10p-2:30a

Customer appreciation night means no cover and a floor full of requests. You pick the music, they run the videos. Long weekend Sunday, so expect people to stay later than they planned.

Thanksgiving Market
The Parkdale Hall | 11a-4p

Local makers, seasonal goods, and the general pleasantness of a Sunday market when the city is in a long-weekend mood.

Mural Sticker Making
Sisters Laneway | 2p-4p

Sisters of Shred, Queer Skate Toronto and La Pupila are collaborating on a mural in Sisters Laneway. And your ideas could help pull it all together. All supplies and wheat paste are provided. Bring whoever you want.

Music Bellydance & Live Music @ Kensington Market OCT 18 8:30 pm, Pamenar

I am organizing an oriental dance (Raqs Sharqi/Baladi dance) event featuring professional bellydancers dancing to live music on Sunday OCT 18. This is a very unique event and a rare find downtown, as most bellydance shows are performed with recorded music and often far from the city. Don't miss out!

You can find tickets (35$) here: Enta Maaya Tickets

Meetup - Free Anti-Networking Social at Watson’s | October 22nd | 5:30–7:30 PM 🫰

It's getting colder, the days are getting shorter, and the temptation to cancel plans and stay home is getting stronger. 😭

But if you've been meaning to get out more and meet new people in Toronto, we're giving you a reason to do exactly that.

We're hosting another Anti-Networking social!

✨RSVP: https://luma.com/10qhtewk ✨
💸 Free

Think of it as a bunch of strangers getting together to talk about literally anything other than work 🫡

We started doing these because meeting people as an adult in Toronto can be surprisingly difficult, and let's be honest fuck Networking events 👎

📍 Watson's
📅 Thursday, October 22nd
⏰ 5:30–7:30 PM

PS - Coming alone is completely normal. A lot of people do!
