Has anyone used their gateway to claim the perks? Do you just pop the sim into a phone?

I recently acquired the rectangular T-Mobile home internet route (Arcadyan KVD21 Gateway), and was wondering if anyone has dove into the hardware or firmware of this thing yet?

The T-Mobile home Internet connection on my phone and MacBook seem to cut out periodically throughout the day even though it shows that I have a full connection. I go from being able to refresh my email or search eBay and then when I walk upstairs I can’t refresh emails or get updates on other apps like fantasy football. I usually have to turn WiFi off and turn it back on temporarily from the slide down option or in settings to get it to work. Something to note is that I do have Proton VPN but those are usually off or I have deleted it off of my phone but this didn’t fix the problem. I have 4 out of 5 bars on the gateway. I usually get like 400 download and 27-30 upload. Anyone know what the situation might be?

Hello, I’ve been considering switching to T-Mobile Fiber over from Spectrum, and I was wondering what the consensus on this is?
r/tmobileisp • u/EnvironmentBrief8860 • 1d ago
New to T mobile, left spectrum after they refused to lower my bill. Need some solid suggestions for a battery back up like I had with spectrum. I have the 5G home internet with the T-Mobile® 5G Gateway G5MAR-1

I’ve got a T-Mobile gateway through Mint home internet. (The model number is TMO-G4AR.) It worked great for five months and yesterday, it stopped working. There’s an alert saying “No SIM Card” on the screen. I followed all the troubleshooting steps and had no success. Mint has been unable to help me.
Does anyone know what I need to do to get it working again? Do I need a new SIM or a new gateway? Just trying to figure out what to ask Mint for so they don’t try to tell me it’s a “local service outage”, when there is no local service outage.

For the last week or so, my T-Mobile Home Internet has been increasingly unreliable. Certain websites would time out repeatedly, while others worked perfectly. It's gotten worse, to the point that IPv4 connections are now nearly unusable.
I used Codex to help diagnose the problem, and it turns out IPv6 is working great, but IPv4 connections are failing most of the time. Interestingly, if I connect through Cloudflare WARP (VPN), everything works perfectly again.
Some of the testing results:
- Direct IPv4 HTTPS connections failed 43 out of 60 attempts across several unrelated websites.
- IPv6 connections succeeded 20 out of 20 attempts.
- With WARP connected, all 60 IPv4 attempts succeeded.
- Even direct connections to IPv4 addresses fail, so it doesn't appear to be just a DNS issue.
- When testing with my phone(also on T-Mobile) it will fail to load the site on Wi-Fi, but work perfectly when I disconnect and use cellular.
I called T-Mobile support, and they opened a ticket to investigate possible network issues in my area. They're also sending me a replacement gateway since I'm still using an older Arcadyan KVD21 that I've had for years.
Interestingly, after one restart, I got 30 successful connections out of 30, but about 10 minutes later, 13 out of 30 were timing out again. Since then, things have deteriorated even further.
Hopefully either the network investigation or the replacement gateway resolves it.
Unfortunately, T-Mobile is my only realistic internet option where I live. If this continues, the only workaround I can think of is putting another router behind the gateway and routing everything through a VPN. I'd really rather avoid that because it introduces other issues, particularly with streaming and some of my work.
I've searched through older posts and found a few people describing similar IPv4 problems, but not much in the way of confirmed solutions. Has anyone else experienced this? If so, did T-Mobile eventually resolve it, and do you know what they actually did to fix it?
**Update**
So the new modem came in today. Not only did my speed go up significantly, nearly three times faster, but the IPv4 issue appears to be resolved over multiple tests over the last hour. If anyone else is reading this with the same issue, I highly recommend asking them to replace your modem.

I use Tmobile 5G wireless Internet for my TV service. I have used the system for 5-6 months with no issues. Yesterday both my TV's went out, no service. I called T-Mobile and they said my connection was strong and they had no idea why this happened. 2 TV's, both went out within hours of each other. I tried new batteries, checking the breakers, checking the outlets, unplugged them etc. I had no issues with either TV before this happened, they worked perfectly. I can't think of anything else to try. Does anyone have any ideas for me?

I previously posted that I would trash Xfinity after successfully testing TMHI for 30 days in addition to adding MoCA devices for improved throughput without relying solely on my eero devices to handle the wifi. My OCD wants to see how far I can go down home network configurationville so I've since decided to downgrade to the Xfinity Now 100 Mbps plan as a backup. I purchased an Omada router and was able to successfully set up the device to failover after testing . Here's the diagram of the new setup. I swear I am so done with tinkering with my home network. I keep going further and further down the home network rabbit hole! .🤣

I've been a T-Mobile Home Internet customer for a year and a half, and I'm done. Sharing my experience so others know what to expect.
Over the past four weeks my speeds fell off a cliff — down to around 20 Mbps download, out of nowhere. T-Mobile sent a replacement router, and it arrived broken. After more back and forth they finally got me a working one, and on the new mesh setup I'm now getting about 160 Mbps... on ONE device. The second a second device is on the same network, speeds drop down to 50–60.
And let me be clear: I did everything right on my end. When I called technical support, they confirmed I'd maintained all my updates, all my patches, everything myself. I took care of my equipment — I didn't just sit around waiting to be handed a fix. I was proactive because I wanted it to work the way it was advertised, the way it should.
So here's the picture: strong 5G signal, but I'm clearly sharing that tower with the entire neighborhood, and home internet is first in line to get throttled when it gets congested. In 18 months I have never once gotten close to the speeds they sold me on.
I ordered AT&T internet last night. Maybe it'll be better, maybe it won't — but I feel like I've been lied to and treated poorly this whole time, and I'm not giving T-Mobile another dollar of goodwill.
Anyone else get burned the same way?

Are those 5 g routers rated for outdoors? Of course I would buy an enclosure to weather proof it. I live in mild weather area but it does get hot sometimes in summer.

My ex died. He had TMHI. I've been trying to cancel his service, and am getting the run around, quite literally. Several phone calls, and going to two different stores, with the second one being 25 miles away. I have all the codes, name, account number, phone number, birth date, SSN, etc. Phone CSR's say go to the nearest store. Nearest store says go to only location in the area that can handle this. That store won't do it. I had to give them all sorts of information, and told I'll be contacted within three days.
I used to have TMHI until about 3 months ago. I didn't have to jump through all these hoops, and waste an entire afternoon. For me it was "We'll email you a label. Box it up, and ship it back." They didn't even try to keep me as a customer.
Any ideas of speeding up this process?

Hi all, I've been having issues with getting the automatic failover backup working with T-Mobile gateways. I ordered the service specifically for that feature. I was originally shipped a T4GAR. I've got an er707-m2 router set up correctly for my primary Xfinity internet to come in on wan1, the T4GAR's Lan1 plugged into wan2, and the T4GAR's Lan2 plugged into an isolated, internet only Lan port on the er707. When I tried to enable the automatic backup feature with the button in the Tlife app, it kept giving me the error "something's not quite right. Please try again." After troubleshooting with tmobile tech support, they determined it must be something wrong with the router itself and shipped me a new one to try.
They shipped me a T5GAR, I got that set up, then went to try enabling the automatic backup in the app, and the button was just not there. I called tech support again, we went through a bunch of troubleshooting, and at the end of it, they said it just needed 24 hours for the feature to properly get provisioned. After 48+ hours, it still wasn't showing up, so I reached back out to support and this agent explained that the automatic failover backup feature only exists on the T4GAR, and the T5GAR simply isn't capable of it.
I can't find that detail anywhere online and you would think it would have come up on the second call while we were doing all the troubleshooting with the T5GAR.
Has anyone else run into this? I'm getting another T4GAR sent out to try that again, but man, that's been a lot of wasted time.

How has the internet worked for you? What kind of business do you have?
Would you recommend business internet for small business?

Hello everyone, so I've had the g5se gateway for about 4 months now, was working great until tonight, trying to watch a movie and then after 16m of the movie being started, buffering started out of nowhere, couldn't go longer than 2 min before buffering, restarted the gate way, restarted my home mesh system and still buffering. Then I thought it shouldn't be buffering if my whole house is hardwired, including TV's. Ran a speed test, my server and home network are fine.
Ran a speed test on the Internet and I am getting 15mbs down and 2.6 up.
Called after being on the phone for 30+min the decided it was on their end, so they are sending me the "new" gateway the g5ar, should I get my hopes up or vite bullet and switch to Comcast ?

I have gone down the rabbit hole looking at x75 modems. I keep hearing of issues and potentially T-Mobile disconnecting the connection. I've looked at ZTE G5 Ultra, Suncomm 08 Ultra, and many more.
I want to know for an indoor gateway does anything get better signal and speed than the G5AR?

The set up screen comes with this warning. I haven’t bought the mesh yet.
I get 300 down upstairs and then there’s one room downstairs where I get 100 down. Would mesh help me get to 200?
The T-Mobile app diagnostics say my WiFi connection is fine

Had problems with disconnections from the tower not wifi, using a g4ar so T-mobile sent me a g5ar. Havent had as many disconnections but noticed 2 things. I have excellent cell metrics with my sinr usually between 25-30. Thats being said I have noticed 2 things. One, my cqi keeps dropping from 13 down to 6 a LOT, contuous jumping. Second, the gateway keeps getting knocked out of stand alone mode and showing both LTE and 5g metrics in hint. I should also add using a third party asus router for wifi. Is this the dreaded "too many" on this tower and getting depriotized into the pits of hades? Live rural, tower serves a town of 2,000 people with a 2 lane US highway. For now no disconnects and ok speeds.but if the disconnects happen again will be time.

I still have the grandfathered T-Mobile 2022 HINT P22 promotion for $25/month, and I’m debating whether it’s worth keeping.
I currently have Xfinity as my primary internet provider for $70/month, which includes the modem, Hulu, and Disney+. I’ve been holding onto the T-Mobile Home Internet service for about four years strictly as a backup, but I’ve honestly never needed to use it.
At $25/month, it’s not a bad deal, but that’s $300 a year for something I haven’t used.
Has anyone canceled and regretted giving up the $25 rate?
Curious whether it’s worth continuing to hold onto or if I’m just paying to keep a deal I’ll never use.

I'm a big newsgroup guy that uses newshosting. com as my provider. Always had good dl speeds until this week. Used to get max speed on my wireless modem, now if not using VPN I get a tenth of speed. Using VPN I get 10x of what T-Mobile provides without VPN. Think it's time to look somewhere else for a provider.

Hello all, I have had T-mobile home internet on the Northside of Chicago for over a year and a half with little issue until about the last month. My gateway reports no issues, but service will regularly be disrupted.
I've chatted with the online agents twice now, and both times they have claimed there is congestion issues in the area that are being addressed.
I haggled with the agent to receive a $20 credit on my account (still don't think that's enough to reflect almost a month of largely unusable internet - but they tired me out after being in the chat for over an hour)
I highly recommend anyone else in the area to do the same and put more pressure on them to fix these "congestion issues" because it is insane and my only other options for wifi in the area being astound or comcast - neither of which sound great to me, either.

Anyone know how to ask T-Mobile to whitelist a website? It's a new travel blog, perfectly legit, and yet I cannot access it via wifi (T-Mobile home internet) or on my phone (also T-Mobile). The error I get is:
This site can’t be reached
travelneverends.com’s DNS address could not be found. Diagnosing the problem.
DNS_PROBE_POSSIBLE
Thanks for any assistance!
