Hardline OU/Tx segment
Anyone have this anywhere? It’s not included in the top 10 or all that implies podcast

Please use this thread for for random comments and thoughts about the station for the week. If it doesn't require its own separate thread then it goes here. So-called shitposting within reason will be more tolerated in these weekly threads.

Matt's son had a basketball tournament for his AAU team on Saturday. They both wanted to make it home in time for the TX/OU game.
Luckily for us, Matt did not leave out a single detail of this crazy story...
The payoff to the story is that, even though it really didn't matter because he had the game recorded, if that clock stoppage hadn't happened, they would have walked into the house EXACTLY at kickoff!!

I find it amazing that, unless I’m missing something, there is no podcast/stream for WiP. Heaven forbid you make the best show on the station available, Cat.

Heard it once on a drive and never before or after. I think it was Greggo and Mike.
There’s some cross talk.
Mike: “Coming up…”
Greggo: You wanna have sex?”
Mike: “My sister’s stinky box…”
Or something like that. I’ll hang up and listen.

I’ve grown up listening to the ticket with my dad like a lot of others (I’m 20), but I just moved back to DFW after transferring schools and I’ve fallen in love with the ticket.
My dad and you redditors never fail to remind me that the ticket is past its hayday. I don’t care though. It’s still much better than growing up listening to podcasts or rotting my brain on social media.
My goal with this post is to learn more about the tickets history and immerse myself in the culture and community.
There’s so many jokes and sayings that I’m not aware of (I even made a joke to my dad tonight about infected cooter and apparently that’s a grego joke).
So I guess what I wanna know is where I can learn about some of the history, jokes and personalities that make the ticket the tickets.
And I always love hearing about peoples favorite ticket moments so please feel free to share those as well.
Thanks P1s and stay hard.

Does Bob have orders to let Corby run wild? I hear Bob rein him in once in a while, but every day it’s one over the top exaggeration after another with zero self awareness on the part of His Royal Blow-hardness Corby whatshisname. I am 100% convinced Larry David was passing thru Dallas and listening to the radio at 3pm when the show title ‘Curb your Enthusiasm’ came to him in a flash.

His call for the Cowboys to win the division is definitely on par with his “ If anything should make you happy is the Mavericks place in the western conference” Love it, stay hard

I don't want to be yet another ticket complainer, because that's getting old, just like the ticket lol.
No, this is just a quick observation regarding the great Donavan. For years, he had to be in the shadows of the great Norm, which is fine, for what it is. And what should have followed is a great run for Donny as the lead host of his own show. Well deserved,as we all may agree. Now, he's saddled with Matt, who appears to be of a lower degree of talent and or energy.
I feel bad for Donny and wish we could hear him at full strength with a great partner. He's too good a person to complain, so he marches on, a true soldier of radio.

Using the "Why use few words when many words will do" method, we got this today:
Matt is getting a king-size mattress next week.
For most hosts, that would have been all we got, but Matt knows we want to hear EVERY detail...
So we learned he currently has a queen, has three queen beds in his house, and has three bedrooms plus an office.
One of the beds came from his parents a few months ago. Another came from a Facebook post five years ago in Alabama where a stranger said they were giving away a mattress. Matt replied, “Yes, I’ll take it.” He didn’t know how old it was, but fortunately it didn’t have bedbugs, so he put a mattress protector on it. It wasn't great quality, but it beat the air mattress he was using at the time.
Now the new king is arriving next Tuesday, and today is bulk trash day, so Matt needs to get rid of the old bed.
Except he needs his current bed until the new one arrives.
So this morning he disassembled the bed in the guest room and dragged it to the curb. That room is now empty, but he can't move his current bed into it yet because, obviously, he still needs to sleep in it.
Donnie asked the obvious question: Why not just move it into the guest room a day or two early?
Matt: “Yeah, I might do that.”
Then came an explanation of why taking the bed apart is easy but putting it back together is difficult because it has a headboard.
Then we got the mattress transportation report.
Apparently you can scoot a mattress across hardwood, but not concrete. So Matt cartwheeled the mattress down the driveway and down the sidewalk to the curb.
Donnie asked if he had Ring footage.
Matt said it was “quite a beating.”
Then we learned about his trash infrastructure: regular trash, recycling, bulk trash, the trash truck has arms, bulk trash has two guys, bulk trash comes every Thursday, and Matt had to Google whether they even take mattresses.
He considered putting the mattress on Facebook, but didn't want people asking where it came from because, five years ago, he had to go into a stranger's bedroom to retrieve it.
He also didn't want to put it out the night before because he didn't want the neighbors to see his old furniture on the curb.
Then came the philosophical discussion about why we're embarrassed for our neighbors to see our discarded furniture and why there isn't a better way to recycle mattresses.
Finally, Matt revealed that even though he will not be sleeping on his old mattress anymore, he's perfectly fine putting it in the guest room.
Why?
Because he has had his current mattress for 12 years and has done sex stuff on it, but apparently that's not a problem for guests.
Donnie pointed out that people sleep on hotel mattresses.
Matt cleaned it with fabric cleaner.
And finally, after approximately 12 minutes of exposition, we learned that next Wednesday when Matt gets to work, he will have slept on his new mattress.
Donnie: “I like that.”

I get it. She's young. She's hot. She's the modern "girl on TV who's so good looking..." but Jesus, does anyone else get creeped out when she's on with the Hardline? I mean, you can literally hear the drool coming out of Corby and Dave's mouths. I hate to say "they're old enough to be her father," but it's true. Bob comes across as more paternal to her, FWIW.
I'm sure Mrs. Corby just loves the idea of hanging out with her in Austin.
Thanks, I'll hang up and listen, and go somewhere else to get my sports talk.

Heard Jub mention that he was back at Westlake but didn’t say why? Did he just miss high school coaching? Seemed like a really short stint only 1 season maybe? Thanks and Queef.

Isnt this sub run by ticket employees? I wish their was more moderation, its just constantly bad mouthing the same hosts on a weekly basis. And its always the same criticism. Its tiring, why cant we talk more about particular segments or upcoming ticket events rather than just bad mouthing people who just want to talk sports and make a living.
The negativity on here is astounding to me and i dont like how people like Norm or Matt are just a punching bag and than everyone piles on in the comments with the same tired jokes. Its becoming so predictable here. How many dry dock posts are we going to get this year? Oh lets make fun of Matts story telling? Or how the musers are mailing it in. Its exhausting reading the post here sometimes.

What happened to the old timey piano riff during WTDS? I haven't heard it played in a few days when they say "In 1932..." No piano music?

Is the Hardline coming to Green Bay for the Cowboys/Packers game? Are they doing an event like last time? I swear it was mentioned at some point, but I missed details.

All that implies podcast is similar to sportsgreek. Not as good but still better than nothing

I know the top 10 is available on streaming platforms but I want full shows.
Note to Cat: how the f*ck have you guys not figured out how to monetize this? There are thousands of listeners willing to pay a monthly sub to listen to full shows on demand…for years! The incompetence of ticket management is staggering

Just listened to the Matt Insane Asylum and was reminded once again what a great storyteller Matt is.
He went to the A&M/Arkansas game Saturday. Crowd was announced at 108,000+. It was incredibly loud. He loved the atmosphere.
A&M beat the heck out of Arkansas, but Matt had a great time. He also “went to a lot of the just local places and things like that.”
Then came the fun story about P1 Rob, who invited him to his tailgate.
Before Matt could go, it started pouring rain. So he decided not to go because he would’ve gotten soaking wet.
Instead, he went to a bar.
Then the rain stopped.
So he walked to the game.
The End

Anyone else losing their damn minds at his stupid inability to understand the "hook and ladder" when It's quite literally just the shortening of "Hook and lateral"
Lateral....later....Hook and Lader
The most annoying host strikes again!

I always want to listen to the Ticket for pregame but David Newbury has this combination of cotton mouth + full of food mouth frog voice and it just drives me up the wall batty. I’ll turn it on, hear him and think - ‘crap, not again - sigh - over to the Fan I guess’
That’s how bad it is - I’d rather hear Bryan Broaddus.
David may be talented but he has the worst radio voice this side of the Mississippi hands down.
(Note: if he had some kind of car accident or other bear trap I’m ignorant of that caused that I’ll retract my opinion)

As Bob mentioned recently, there is a lot of negativity on TheTicket Reddit. Fellow P’1’s, are you here to listen to sports talk? 24/7?
The reason I ask is because I like the personalities on the station, I cannot stand listening to cowboy talk; hour after hour our; day after day; so in the middle of the day, I will tune out when it’s cowboy talk after cowboy talk; but when the personalities come on to share their life hobbies, personal experiences, life views, I am there.
I thought Matt did a great job on the boy music seg explaining the detail behind the lyrics of the songs, but also adding in a dash of his personal life.
Stay hard.
