This journal was sold at Playstation Experience 2017. I always loved this art by Greg Coulton. I wish they used it more on merch/promos.

Spoilers for: Metal Gear Solid, TLOU1&2 and Max Payne.
A lot of people will laugh at the idea, it sounds a bit ridiculous at first. A lot of people hate the idea of a prequel. But the more and more I induldge in the idea, the more it made sense.
I think Tommy is one of the most important characters in the series that we've never explored much about. Much like Neil drew inspiration from MGS2, I think MGS3 could serve as a great inspiration for TLOU3.
A. It's a safe bet from a marketing standpoint. Even if TLOU2 was, with time, more widely accepted, I think a direct continuation is risky.
B: Neil showed a clear interest in exploring Tommy more, in the TLOU2 they cancelled the DLC of his 3 days in Seattle and the season 1 of HBO greatly expanded his character over TLOU1.
And Neil likes to write about the non-conventional.
C: "Leave it ambiguous, your imagination does power" in part I agree, but a great prequel can also be phenomenal. It's a blank canvas that could further recontextualize the relationship between Joel and Tommy, it would add weight to his sweet redemption in TLOU1 and add weight to the bitter tragedy of his fate in TLOU2. It would greatly expand over the role of the Fireflies. It would show the consequences of Joel's action more extensively and further add to how complicated his arc is. If TLOU3 had Joel in a villanous role, a lot of discourse would be around "Did he deserve redemption?"
Being a blank canvas means you can do just about everything. But the last thing a prequel needs to do is feel like a ticking box. It should have drastic revelations as opposed to being "yup, that was the favor Bill asked of Joel", which is precisely the problem MGS Peace Walker ran into.
It could be about Joel's failure to latch onto any belief and how it had ripple effects on his younger brother, it could be how his grief made others grieve, it could be about "survival at all costs", how subsistence is insufficient for existance.
Why MGS3 worked precisely was because it recontextualized MGS1 (I would say MG1&2, but given how much Kojima likes to retcon) and MGS2. Even though Big Boss did not become a villain in MGS3, we understood why he went down the path he did, and how in his desire to respect the will of his mentor BY HIS OWN will, he unleashed armagedon upon the world. How a noble belief can turn into something horrific as it passes onto others.
It stimulated the imagination, it gave you more to think about.
D: I don't want a TLOU2 continuation, because it ended in such a high note, it left off in a open ended note, that IS EQUALLY as risky to write about. Both Ellie and Abby feel like they've had their arcs completed, having Ellie fall into conflict again after her resolution feels like it could be disliked? Max Payne 3's story was quite controversial because they made him an alcoholic after his bittersweet acceptance in Max Payne 2, he *had* gone past grieving, but you could not have had a Max Payne game without a grieving ex-cop kill half the local population.
And again, you cannot have a TLOU3 were Ellie just goes and apologizes to her family. She would have to go on a killing spree again, and I am not sure if I want that.
But I also don't think it would be TLOU3 if it was just about some unknown survivor instead, they already played that card with TLOU2, in that scenario it did make more sense and felt unexpected.
I do not think we should ever play as Joel again. Mostly because given how much we know about him, there would be a great disconnect about the player and the main character. We feel conflict towards him, we have prior knowledgr of who he is.

Obviously we play him in gameplay but Tommy just said “Joel, do your thing” which to me implies he is a very tough fighter not just for gameplay sake but just very efficient at fighting. Whats the reason tho like why is Joel so much stronger than everyone else? And at this point hes not a survivor amongst other people hes a survivor amongst other survivors. My point here is you’d think it would be exceptional people who make it so why is Joel who is seemingly average such a beast

honestly the most nerve racking chase i’ve experienced in a video game

never forget that we will see this happen and I really hope we do end up following into part three with seeing abby and lev making it to the firelies, im PRAYING they make this happen it made me so emotional cause i never clocked this and always wondered where they went after they boated off from the beach
EDIT: wait I ate Naughtydog needs to get me in the writing room (I am a writer) what if we get Ellie and a new second playable character like Ellie and Dina as parents and JJ as a teenager or young adult circulating the world? That connects the main story threads and moves the story along

I bought TLOU day one on PS3, finished the game within 5 days and loved it so much.
Today this TLOU PS3 vs PS4 comparison video was recommended to me on YouTube and I was shocked by how badly the game ran on PS3. The game ran at 720p 30fps, but the framerate actually drops to low 20s in most action packed scenes. I was 14 and didn't care about framerate or resolution at all. In my memory, TLOU on PS3 ran and looked exactly the same as the remake on PS5.

I HATE THE DOGS in hillcrest. Damn pissed me off so much. And the maze way to get out of that level to get Jesse took me a whole damn day.
2nd I ordered the poster of the last of us 2!
I’m still waiting to hear back from a tattoo place about getting a tattoo of Ellie and the guitar!

I reinstalled the game today to play again and realized I still had Abby's badlands skin on, and I wanted to revert back to her default. I haven't tried to replicate it, but when you first see her in her cutscene, it seems that if you switch her skin but don't restart the cutscene to switch the skin now, and wait until Owen says he wants to show you something, it will cut to a shader compilation screen. When it cuts back to the game you get placed immediately in control of Abby while the garage door closes behind her, but you can get inside before it closes. It seems that the garage door closing is intended to just be a cutscene and you can't move
The cabin has full collision everywhere but in 80% of it, nothing renders but the garage door, some interactive blinds, and some other assets depending on where you stand. It only fully loads everything in photo mode. There is a massive spot light in the living area that has no actual source.
I have never seen this before, and I found it really cool. (If it has been posted before I can remove it, please let me know. Thanks)
Edit: I was able to replicate it immediately after I posted this, and tried a few more times and just cannot.

What's your thoughts on “The Last of Us 2” on PC? How is it? Is it as good as the first game? I absolutely loved #1. I really wanna get it, and it’s FINALLY on sale on Loaded.com.. But honestly, I’m having a hard time justifying spending $30. I’m a struggling small business owner, and $30 could be the difference between me buying groceries this week or not. I'm willing to starve for a couple days, but I gotta know... Is it fun? Is it worth the price?
Seriously, I really want to know.. I've been eyeballing it for over a year now. If it sucks, then someone please, talk me out of it…
EDIT - Well, the consensus is... Don't get it. I'll keep my priorities in check. Thanks for being real with me, folks. I appreciate the candor.

People have made fungal vaccines before, and it is scientifically possible, it’s just that one has never been approved for human use yet. But even that is something that is currently in scientific development, and “encouraging” human trials have been conducted.

I found out you cannot open this door in the dorms at the University of East Colorado if you have your melee button set to the circle button.

I just completed The Last of Us Part II, and what an incredible experience! The story was awesome and completely different from Part I.
Unpopular opinion, but I liked Abby’s journey more than Ellie’s. I never expected to appreciate Abby this much, but the more I learned about her, the more I connected with her character. Beneath her tough exterior, she was caring, protective, and soft-hearted, especially in the way she looked after Lev and Yara. Her journey showed me that there’s so much more to her than revenge.
Ellie’s story was heartbreaking too, but Abby’s character development resonated with me more. I loved seeing her slowly move beyond her past and become someone who genuinely cared about others. If their roles were reversed, Ellie would have killed Abby in the last fight. That's why Abby's character is so strong in the story.
Honestly, the hate this game gets is undeserved. You don’t have to agree with every story decision to appreciate the incredible storytelling and character development.
This is my personal opinion.

Essentially I need to be able to zoom in on Joel and his expression with high quality.
