Open | Networking File sharing doesnt work (Windows 11)

Title might be wrong, but..

I want to share a folder from a computer. I have shared the folder, but when trying to access the folder from another computer it asks for credentials. I have tried every credential i can think of:
My name, the 5 letter user, my microsoft account, guest, admin. You name it.

File sharing is on for both private and public networks, CIF/Samba is installed/on, network discovery is on. I have tried EVERYTHING.

I cant get past the credentials log on. What to do? What ARE the credentials?

Making changes to your system BIOS settings or disk setup can cause you to lose data. Always test your data backups before making changes to your PC.

giving the Everyone group access to a shared folder doesn't necessarily eliminate the requirement to authenticate. Those are two different things. SMB authentication requires the account's password that is hosting the shared folder. have you tried using the HOSTNAME\username format to enter the credentials?

As a network path? Yes, doesnt work.

No, not as a network path. When Windows prompts you for credentials, enter HOSTNAME\username in the username field and the actual password for that account on the computer hosting the share (not your pin).

On the host computer, open Command Prompt and run whoami. That should give you the correct HOSTNAME\username format.

I just created a local account as the user below suggested. Dont want to bother with the other stuff right now.

Create a local account with a password. Give account permissions in the shared folder. Try again
