Well there was a 3sd verification error and payment failed, so i made a wechat account linked my bank and tried that way but I dont have a passport ive never needed one so I couldn't use wechat, now what? I'm interested in buying some Limited perfumes for collectors. For context they come in big boxes so they should be safe throughout the shipping.

My biggest fear is the final quality of the fragance. It's fragance it's floral and woody.

Can anyone pls share they experience of the final quality if they brought perfumes? That took at least 2.5 to 4 months to arrive

So I already initiated a return and refund request on the tao bao app and they gave me some tracking code and time that the courier will come to the cainiao warehouse to pick it up in China. I wasn't sure what I was supposed to do so I messaged cainiao customer service asking about it (it's linked to my tao bao account) and they just said, yeah your item is ready to be picked up by the courier.

So now I'm confused, do I need to pay for the return shipping to the seller even though they messed up and sent me the wrong item or does the seller pay for it? I also see an estimated time between 9-11am in the tao bao app when the courier is supposed to come to the cainiao warehouse to come pick it up but it's now a little past 11 yet I'm not seeing any status updates.

From what I'm seeing, I guess on the tao bao app it handles all the logistics of it including payments?

Is it all handled now or is there some steps that I still need to complete to return the item back to the seller?

Update: my original tracking code along with my scheduled pick up time just disappeared and there was a new time for the courier to come pick up the item and there's an orange button in the center of that screen (I'm using a translator to help translate the Chinese interface). I tried clicking on it and it gave me a new 4 digit tracking code along with a new pickup time in the afternoon. Weird. I have no idea what the hell is going on.

what should I do it wants verification? i live in Sweden and I have tried many things to verify it but it doesn’t let me log inn

First and foremost in US, can’t download app. I’ve tried signing up but I’m running into a wall currently as it says that according to translate "Sorry, we are temporarily closed to the service in this area." is this cause I’m in the US, or is it temporary? If it’s the former how can I browse taobao to get website links? any and all advice is much appreciated

The Taobao app listing now advertises an AI Shopping Assistant (compare options, find deals, AI try-on), and I'm guessing it's the Qwen-powered assistant Alibaba announced in May. On the Chinese side it sits in the messages tab, and Alibaba says it works from Taobao's full catalogue and reviews. Separately, the Qwen app can now search all of Taobao and Tmall and take you through to checkout inside the chat.

I'm curious how well this actually works for people here, since most of you are buying from outside China.

A few things I'd love to know:

• Does it recommend smaller Taobao sellers, or mostly Tmall flagship and big stores?
• Does it take shipping to your country into account, e.g. whether an item can go via Taobao Direct or a consolidation warehouse?
• Are its picks actually better than searching and sorting by sales yourself?
• Does it ever explain why it chose something, like pointing to specific reviews?
• Is it even showing up for you? The English version seems to be live only in some countries so far.

For context on where I'm coming from: I look at how AI assistants decide which products and brands to recommend, so I'm more interested in this from the AI side than as a heavy Taobao buyer. Alibaba says the Qwen app also uses your order history to personalise picks, so I'd expect results to vary a lot between people, which makes real experiences more useful than anything in the press releases.

Hi! I'm literally like 10 minutes new to this Taobao thing and I read somewhere they don't allow people in the states to make accounts? And it seems to be true since I wasnt able to.
Is there a way around this at all? Or is there a way to buy the stuff secondhand, in the sense that its not through taobao, but the seller(s) on there still?
A really cool hat was advertised to me that I would kill to own but the advertisement was from a reseller/drop shipper. So I really wanna figure this out lol!

Because our Thanksgiving was yesterday, even if it was a day that UniUni's drivers could choose to work on if they wanted to, should I expect my delivery to be delayed? It says it'll be coming today.

And, is there any chance that the tracking updates on their site are delayed? It says their warehouse has my item, but, the city it's in is 4hrs away, and I'm wondering if it's already been moved, if it's moving right now, or if I should be expecting them to deliver during the evening.

Update, 1PM: apparently, it's still stuck at the facility. No movement.

2PM: Apparently, their chatbot states that my package is in transit between regional hubs here, even if their site hasn't updated the status yet.

If you want to find quality items from local Chinese stores, use Qwen.AI, ask it to find what you want, and check for yourself.

Qwen.Ai is Alibaba's own LLM that uses its own data to train on. I'm finding great stuff using this strategy.

I know questions like this have been asked many times, so I apologies if this has been answered.

I was trying to login to Taobao with AliPay and WeChat, and it will initially let me start making the account. It will send me a verification code, and I will put the code in, and then after that it will give me an additional security layer where I have to send a text message to a Chinese number, and this is where I’m unable to do so, as I have a US number. I was wondering if anyone has any advice or tips here? Has anyone else run into this? Please please advise I am going to China soon and want to order stuff to my hotel.

I’m a US buyer I put the warehouse address for shipment, I noticed my package wasn’t moving and asked the seller, they told me I need to pay for separate shipping? When I ask the seller how to pay I just keep getting automated answers that don’t really tell me anything🥲 any help?
