Rely on Horror Discord
Hey guys,
I am the EIC of RelyOnHorror.com. I had the random idea to pitch our new Discord to the mod team here as an official server for this subreddit, and they were all up for it! So, if you look at the subreddit home, you will now see a direct link to our Discord server -- where you'll be able to talk about the genre with fellow fans. We'll hold general and spoiler discussions, the occasional giveaway and let you know when new content from us has (or will) drop.
Thanks to the mods for the love. Happy to offer a Discord community for you all as fellow fans of the survival horror genre. Here's the Discord link: https://discord.gg/fXCKMer.
Quick background on Rely on Horror - we're a horror gaming site that originally began as REHorror.net. I joined after closing my own horror gaming site, HellDescent.com. We post news, reviews, articles, previews, videos, etc. Happy to chime in if you're curious about the site or Discord. Thanks!

An amazing year for survival horror fans
We've been getting fed this year.
Requem was amazing. SH Townfall was good (not my favorite because of the focus on stealth, but a solid game overall). Silver Pines is an absolute gem and might just be my favorite game of the year. I'm currently playing through Hellraiser Revival and loving the creativity.
Planning to play Tenebris Somnia next, it looks dope.
What are y'all's fave survival horror games of the year? Any hidden gems?

I'm a solo dev making a Mexican Folklore Horror game inspired by Silent Hill, Resident Evil and a real life location in Mexico - Here's the new trailer, let me know what you think about it!

Hey survival horror fans! Hope you are well.
Just wanted to share my new game trailer that I released a few days ago about a horror game that I am creating by myself which is mostly inspired by a Silent Hill, Resident Evil, Outlast and also a real life location in Mexico!
The game is a survival psychological horror game, mixed in with some Mexican Folklore as well.
Do let me know what you think of the new trailer! Mostly in this trailer I just wanted to show off the environment and ambiance that I am going for, as in the game I am currently focusing on ambiance horror rather then jumpscares and such so it's going to be a bit different then what I usually do.
It would mean the world to me as a solo developer if you can wishlist, share the game and tell me your feedback as it really helps me out a ton! :)

Thank you all so much and do let me know what you think, appreciate you all!

ROTLAND | Official Trailer β Closed Playtest Now Live! Open Playtest in 2 Weeks
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Quick background: I've loved CDDA for years, but every friend I've tried to get into it bounced off the controls and the learning curve. So this year I started making Rotland, a 2D zombie survival sandbox inspired by Cata, with pixel art, modern controls, cleaner menus and a proper tutorial. The goal is to keep that ridiculous depth while making it easier to actually get into.
What's in so far:
- An Earth-sized procedural world with towns, cities, railroads and airports
- 229 building types, 2,400+ items, 500+ pieces of clothing
- Limb damage, bleeding, infections, illness and dismemberment
- Crafting, farming, fishing, construction and skills
- Vehicles built part by part, including mobile bases, plus trains, boats, helicopters and planes
- Fire that spreads, weather, scent, noise and zombie hordes
- Data-driven and built with modding in mind
Would love to hear what you think!
The Steam page will be live next week.

SILVERPINE CREEK on PS5: a more aggressive witch and voice detection through the DualSense mic [Developer update]
Developer disclosure: Iβm posting on behalf of the SILVERPINE CREEK team.
We have updated our released PS5 survival horror game with an even more aggressive Witch Korana. Voice-sensitive gameplay uses the DualSense controllerβs built-in microphone: speaking can reveal your position.
You investigate missing tourists in an abandoned village through bodycam/VHS-style found footage. There are no weapons; awareness, timing and a camera flash are your means of survival. The update is about making the witch feel more threatening while your own voice becomes another risk.
This post is about the PS5 title. Official PlayStation Store page with screenshots and game details:

Anyone watch Ghost stories (2017)?
Just was recently rewatching it for the lead up to halloween and couldnt belive how much h it reminded me of silent hill. I dont want to spoil for those that havnt healed with it but it deals with themes of limbo, guilt and death. It also mentions at least 2 names from silent hill 2. If this movie was a silent hill game it would fit perfectly. I'm suprised I didnt see any connection between the two online already! What does anyone else think that has seen over and played silent hill 2?

Animal Crossing but it's horror? "Happy to Help!"
Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification
Hello, I am a solo dev and currently working on a little survival horror game called "Happy to Help!".
A satire of Animal Crossing (which I love and play since the gamecube btw) in a disturbed world where animals seem to have taken over...
Oh and a white rabbit chases you with an axe!
If this is something that intrigues you, it would mean the world to me if you took the time to wishlist it on Steam: https://store.steampowered.com/app/5192870/Happy_to_Help/
Than you for your time!

What are your thoughts on light management and bio-scanners in cave horror games?
Hey everyone!
A game currently in development called
MOVILLIA revolves around exploring pitch-black alien cave systems where your flashlight battery is scarce, and bio-scanners are used to spot mutated fauna in the dark.
How do you feel about mechanics where darkness is a constant threat and you have to rely heavily on scanner tools?

What Horror game franchises should be cinematic universes?
Just a question that popped up since I just got here. What's a game you'd like as a movie or a series?
(Add photos if typing ain't enough... Or not, it's your choice)

My survival horror inspired game Heartworm is out now on PS4/5, Switch 1/2, and Xbox One/S/X!
I finally was able to release my game Heartworm on all current and prev. gen consoles last week! It's heavily inspired by early survival horror games as well as games like Alone in the Dark and Myst.
If you want to check it out it would be greatly appreciated and a review would also be huge help.
It's really hard to get traction on consoles especially as an indie and I could use all the help I can get.
Thanks!
