My Neon Street Rat turned Pirate turned Aurora chemist has a lab on board that I’ve shared before, but I didn’t get a chance to show the vault! I clipped a Lambent window into one of Owltech’s Galbank Vaults. Lighting is not great but my next build will fix that.
Basically my character has given up the violent pirate life (something, let’s not forget, he was basically coerced into by Sysdef) and moved into a much more lucrative life of organized narcotics trafficking, extortion, racketeering, and yes, escorting the constellation nerds safely from one alien-infested planet to another. We’re not going straight. After all - street rat’s gonna street rat. But my Aurora farms are making so much dough that we don’t need to hijack poor innocent transports anymore. My character arc is getting influenced by hanging out with Barrett and Andreja - and a few other crew members. The pirates on the key are such pricks by comparison.
If only I could keep Mickey out of the supply…..maybe my next ship shouldn’t have a nightclub on it.

Speculation Identity of the nameless Starborn Spoiler
We fight a lot of Starborn, particularly in the late game, who don't have unique titles like the Hunter or Emissary. Considering it's demonstrated that our character surviving is such an outlier that neither of them have ever seen us survive(at least until we get to the universe full of our duplicates), I think it's also reasonable to assume it’s incredibly rare for anyone else to put together the artifacts. Are all these other nameless Starborn other Constellation members from other timelines, versions of the Hunter and Emissary who haven't yet adopted their identities?

Discussion More-Sliders v2: Community question, what is currently lacking in the CC for you?
Working on More-Sliders v2
I usually only make Male PCs so I feel the current MS mod does not fully cover what people want for Female PCs
I want to hear what the community feels is lacking in the character creation menu. Let me know what you feel is missing.

Question How does environmental protection work?
Hi, please help me understand how environmental (Thermal, Airborne, Corrosive and Radiation) protection works. As far as I can tell, the more extreme the condition on a planet is, the higher stats I need or the shorter I can stay. The environment will eventually "eat into" my protection and I need to go back inside to regenerate it. Otherwise I take damage and get debuffs. What I don't understand is:
- How much protection do I need? How do I know what number is required for a planet? Obviously I need more thermal protection on Venus than on Mars, but how much more? How do I even know my suit is adequate?
- How do I know how much I have left? I get that the warning sound gets faster as I run out but is there a more precise (ideally visual) indicator like my O2 meter?
- Likewise, how do I know when it's fully recharged after going inside?
- Do my gear's protection stats just add up? Does it matter if one of my gear has low or zero protection? Can I for example go to a high radiation planet and rely only on my suit if my helmet has zero radiation protection?
- Do stats matter for my crew? Or can I just give them whatever gear I think looks good to wear?

Question Admiral Balewa’s Transcripts
Has anyone located all of these slates? Are they in specific locations or random incursion spawns?
I have a #8 so I assume there are at least that many.

Discussion Hunter and Enmissary battle
Tried to do Revelations several times. Haven't invested in my shipbuilding skill since that isn't my playstyle. Of course I keep getting shot down. It's frustrating as hell and I can't seem to make it past the space battle at the beginning. Any suggestions?

Discussion Discussion: Are the Freestar and UC power dynamics believable?
I just saw that a guy made a mod that created seamless landings. And it actually piqued my interest a bit. because it highlighted what I liked about Starfield. I really liked the grounded aesthetic - and I actually liked wandering the “empty planets” - as I have often wondered what it would be like to walk on the different bodies in our solar system. And in that department Starfield delivers.
But It also made me ruminate over the shortfalls that keep me from enjoying Starfield. For me the issue was never gameplay… It has always been the world building.
I think sci-fi has a higher bar to cross to create a believable world. In a fantasy setting, a legendary elven smith can create a sword that has a special metal alloy. No one questions its place in the universe.. It mirrors the tales of the ulfberht sword. Whereas, if a sci-fi setting makes a special, very strong, light weight metal… and use it for armor. People will rightfully ask if this highly useful alloy is not used to build infrastructure, rather than plate carriers..
And I find the more grounded a sci-fi setting is, the more I demand that its world internal economy and power structure makes sense. And I just don’t buy the premise of the colony war. How could Freestar Collective win against UC? The UC is better organized, has higher tech, and judging from their settlements a better economy. How does the bigger settlements, like Hopetown and Neon answer to Freestar. When it makes more sense they are their own conclaves.
To me it makes more sense that Freestar did not win over UC - but that they outlasted UCs political will to fight.
When I started the game, I had a different understanding of how the world worked, which gradually was replaced with the actual lore. My original understanding was this: The UC was like the “Alliance” from the Firefly show and Freestar was like the “independants”.
UC is centralized, has a lot of economic power and resources. But Its bureaucratic heavy, with less freedom. The Freestar is loosely organized, could “live off the ground” and valued freedom above all.
I saw Neon and Hopetown as “city states” like shanghai or Hong kong (before the chinese take over). They were enjoying the freedom to operate outside UCs legal system. But also not controlled by Freestar.
In this power dynamic. Freestar does not need to win for the war to end. Since Freestar lives of the land, they can just do strategic withdrawal, until UCs resources are stretched so thin that they can gain local superiority.. And the “city states” would support Freestar financially, as to avoid UC expansion.
When I found out what the actual lore said in my second playthrough.. I was quite surprised. As I did not believe, by the way they portray UC and Freestar (the way their settlements look, ships, etc.) that it made logical sense for the Freestar to beat UC in all-or-nothing attack.
Had it been a fantasy setting.. it would be easier for me to believe a band of great warriors could beat a bigger more financially strong empire. But when it's sci-fi.. with grav drive tech.. I just dont buy it.
Any way… thats just my take.
I might still come back, once the seamless landing mod is released. to scratch that itch of walking on empty worlds and build colonies outside the grasp of governments. Because I still love the aesthetics of the game.

Discussion Is Starfield the first space game where war is not the main plot?
Hi everyone,
I’ve been thinking lately about the criticism Starfield has received, and one thing occurred to me.
Starfield might be the first major space game I’ve played where the universe isn’t fundamentally organized around a war. This might be the reason why people are not drawn to it.
I have mainly 3 (fairly old, I reckon) game franchises in mind. Wing commander, Star wars and Freelancer.
In those 3 games, space is mostly a battlefield of some sort, with a clearly defined ennemies. Starfield have nothing of the sort. Everything is more complex than it seems.
I personally enjoyed the game and the narrative but I also see how without these easy tricks the game might be uncommon.
That’s it. I just wanted to share. I will be happy to have your opinions on this. Are there any other major space game with the same narrative structure ?
Have a great day!!
