I recently broke my ankle so I'm stuck at home pretty much all the time for at least 2 months. I'm tired of the PS5, and I've just about played my latest Civilization binge to death.

So, on a whim, I downloaded Wings of Liberty. It's free, and I didn't feel like shelling out around 60CAD for a game this old. I figured I'd play through the first campaigin, get my fill and move on.

Well shit... I couldn't help myself. I finished it and had to keep going. So I bought the other 2 campaigns. I'm a couple missions into Heart of the Swarm and it's blowing my mind how good this game still is. The cinematics in particular hold up amazingly. I actually find myself pulled back into the story like it was some new HBO TV show I'm watching. And for bonus points, it's been long enough since I originally played it that I don't remember all the story. I mean, remember the gist of it all, but it's still absolutely captivating.

Anyhow, I wasn't sure where else to post this so if this isn't the place, my apologies.

I know it wears people out to hear me say this over and over, but in all these years, I have never once received a response from Blizzard.

I play the ladder on the Korean server and finish in the top 20 of Grandmaster every season, and cheaters have been on the ladder for at least five years.

In the past, maphacks and pause hacks were the problem. However, maphack users were far too weak in basic skill, and pause hacks had the drawback of wasting the cheater's own time as well.

Since then, maphacks have evolved. They gained a feature that keeps replays from detecting when the cheater views areas hidden by fog of war, the ability to see the opponent's production status, and convenience features that make up for the cheaters' poor skill. Pause hacks, meanwhile, evolved into drop hacks that force a win.

With no real player pool at the top of the StarCraft II ladder, even a single drop hacker playing the ladder is enough to paralyze it, quite literally.

Cheaters mock regular players and never even get suspended, which is the classic picture of a dying game. For a league to exist, the ladder needs a player pool. That is exactly why changes like Patch 16 were made.

I don't think the balance in the current version is perfect. Korean pros and top-tier ladder players feel that Protoss is strong right now. But this is not the time to be worrying about balance.

I am grateful for the effort you put into StarCraft II on Discord. However, banning these cheaters and restoring the ladder to normal is the most urgent task. I understand that you are short on staff to manage the servers, and I am well aware of the limits of anti-cheat. Still, I believe there are many good ideas worth considering at the server level.

Please, make the cheating problem your top priority. StarCraft II is dying.

It's too hard to get transforming and appearance balanced, so I made some compromise

I know this has probably been mentioned a million times before, but now could be an especially good time to put Starcraft 2 on Steam. With the Starcraft Dominion announcement a while back, Starcraft is back on peoples' minds, but nobody is going to go out of their way to download the Blizzard launcher.

If Starcraft 2 was added to Steam, it could easily (imo) hold an extra ~15K concurrent players, if not more, as that's what Age of Empires 2 has regularly on Steam. Making Starcraft 2 available on Steam could generate a lot of hype for the franchise and just be a really good move imo.

A friend and I played melee mode! I'm getting back into the game after a few years, and my friend just started playing like a month ago!

We are both INCREDIBLY bad.

All the games on the regular version of Starcraft now seem so bland. There's not much of different strategies being used, every race is playing the same style. Terran always uses marine-marauder-tank/mine into banshee into ghost-viking and turtling. Protoss goes for blink stalkers, oracle and HT. Zerg usually has more variety, but they mostly play hydralingbane into mass lurker late game.

PatchesSC mod brought more variety, more new upgrades and aggression possibilities. It also seems more lore-accurate and appropriate. A lot of the changes are so cool and interesting, and i hope it grows into something bigger. Right now PatchesSC ladder is empty and most tournaments switch on over to live version, but i can't move on from the mod. Am i the only one here?

I'm not sure what it is called but in other games I could hold my middle mouse and hold where the mouse is and drag the camera around it

Starcraft 2 is the only game of the games I play that doesn't seem like to have this drag mode or maybe I can't find it?

I am not smart enough to know about how to do coding in the starcraft 2 editor, So could someone help me by giving me the instructions on how to make this mod in the starcraft 2 editor so I can make it and use it and so other starcraft 2 zerg players can use that mod too?

Starcraft 2: Zerg Broodmother mod

This mod is made in the starcraft 2 editor to give broodmother like abilities to the player’s swarm queens in the starcraft 2 heart of the swarm campaign and starcraft 2 co-op missions.

Birth Zerg Units. Gives the zerg swarm queen the ability to train zerg units that looks in the game like niadra’s train zerg units ability where she births an zerg cocoon that a zerg unit hatches out of or multiple zerg units hatch out of. Those swarm queens would only be able to train zerg drones at anytime but the swarm queen can only train a different type of zerg unit if the required zerg structure is built for that different zerg unit (for example: a zerg swarm queen wouldn’t be able to train Zerglings without a spawning pool having been built.).

Dig In. gives the zerg swarm queen the ability to be a resource drop off point at the cost of being mobile. Basically if a zerg swarm queen uses dig in then she partially burrows into the ground and becomes similar to a zerg hatchery but with the hit points and armor of a zerg swarm queen. The zerg swarm queen can also stop being like a hive by the player clicking the dig in button on the swarm queen. Also while a swarm queen is using Dig In, she produces an amount of zerg creep that zerg hatcheries produce.

My Note on the Birth Zerg Units ability: this ability would make zerg swarm queens like mobile barracks and it would definitely be cheaper to have zerg swarm queens train zerg units than to have to build a zerg hatchery when you wanted to ramp up production of zerg units. Also, it would make easier playing as zerg

My Note on the Dig In ability: this ability would make zerg swarm queens like mobile hatcheries which would allow for more quicker resource gain in starcraft 2 and those swarm queens would use the birth zerg units ability to train units instead of producing larvae. And resource gain is a problem when playing zerg since early game zerg units are not as good as units of the terran faction and the protoss faction but that dig in ability of zerg swarm queens might help alleviate that issue for players playing as zerg in starcraft 2. I thought of this Dig In ability cause command and conquer red alert 3 has units that can be like mobile construction yards and a construction yard is similar to the Starcraft 2’s  Terran Command Center. Also I thought of the dig in ability because ther is a zerg unit in starcraft 2 that generates creep when it is partially burrowed.

Basically, I'm trying to find an isolated version of this guitar riff. I know it exists, I'm pretty sure it plays when you play as Tychus in Co-op. Plz reddit, help me find this damn sound.

the name of the mod is "casual_balance" its a mod with some random and experimental changes, the goal is to make the game more fun at lower skill levels using mostly small number changes

I see major tournaments are held on this balance mod, created by an actual active player, who is also a map designer. It brings much more new variety, shakes the meta, creating new scenarios even on pro matches we haven't seen before. It also deepens the depth of strategies, e.g. by distingusing two different specialized queens, and the have a one way morphing upgrade.

On the other hand the mod contains way more unit specific upgrades as the vanilla game (although it also deletes banshee speed), which make it a little bit harder to learn for a new players, maybe a little bit less polished. It also decreases the need of the transition to a lategame army by these upgrades, making early game units capable to face higher tier units.

Do you think it should be moved to the vanilla game, replacing the current patch? And do you think that after we went back to 12 workers this patch/mod will remain the main battleground of esport matches?

ok, issue that plagued zerg once ramped workers u didnt solve scouting problem.

lower starting worker meant slower start witch means that slow over lords would land on exact path that toss or terran was going. they had choice they can build reaper but give all vital detail to zerg or delay and try active stop over lords.

with 12 works by time over lord gets there u all ready past deciding stage, on top of building counters like vikings to block over lords.

on top all this they killed larva injection from 4 to 3 because a fear of easily stock pile larva injection late game. which is dumbest thing ever for couple reasones.

1 zerg race was design to remax zerg units weak and more nich play vs unversal.

1. all doing is forcing zerg extra 2 hatches on end game. So never stop fear that they where after. Better ideal is nerf 15 max down to 10.

3 what actually did was hurt early game witch lost 1 larva every cycle witch hurts when convert drone building or defensive structur.

pluss biggest problem stop useing pro win or loss as balance mechanism since games are low in valume. You can see why they won or lost and most games are having right unit at right time.
