Long time fan. Unexpectedly found myself in Seoul this week for a wedding, and realised it's the same weekend as the ASL finals.
I can see the event has sold out, but I've seen other redditors suggest it worth going to the venue and seeing if you can stand at the back.
Anyone else planning to do this?

Reinstalled the game after many years (last time I played, LotV wasn't out yet). To warm up, I did the HotS campaign on hard (and to re-learn the hotkeys, because I decided to use the TheCore hotkeys this time around). Just finished it now, and ready to go play the ladder. I have some quick questions about the viability of certain comps (at a casual level, not asking about the optimal pro-level comp).
One thing I used to enjoy, was playing a zergling-based mass-queen comp. I would make more hatcheries than needed (at least 2 per base), and constantly pump out queens, not just for injects, but to be part of the army. The reason is that I found that to be extremely "stable", in the sense that it helps defend against early attacks, including from flying units, without having to overspend on static defenses or having to spend gas. The queens are quite beefy and provided good anti-air, so even in the main army, as long as we are on creep, they would be doing a lot of work.
With the excess gas, I was able to go double evo to push a lot of upgrades fast, and spend a lot on banelings. So the main comp for early to middle game would be lings+banes+queens, and later I would be able to add ultralisks or something, and also nydus worms or whatever, because with this comp we have extra gas for a lot of things.
Anyway, probably sounds like a silly comp overall. But my question is about what changed since then (last 12 years pretty much). I know we have 12 drones at start now, and I noticed the queen's price increased from 150 to 175. Are there other important things that might be relevant (changes of stats, or creep spread, or nydus, or other similar things)?
Feel free to insult me for my stupid comp btw. I won't take offense haha.

Install GE-Proton11-9, umu-launcher and gamescope. Then run the following command:
WINEPREFIX=/home/user/.local/share/Steam/steamapps/compatdata/2337950952/pfx PROTONPATH="/home/user/.local/share/Steam/compatibilitytools.d/GE-Proton11-9/" PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1 UMU_NO_RUNTIME=1 UMU_RUNTIME_UPDATE=0 gamescope -h 1080 -H 1080 -r 120 -f -- umu-run "Z:\home\user\games\StarCraft II\StarCraft II.exe"
Before running the command, you will need to change WINEPREFIX to point to your Wine prefix. If you don't know what that is, change it to point to a new folder in your home directory. Once you set WINEPREFIX, use the same one each time you launch Battle.net, for example "WINEPREFIX=/home/user/games/bnet" would create and use a Wine prefix at /home/user/games/bnet.
Change PROTONPATH to point to wherever you extracted GE-Proton11-9. If you use the path provided (after changing "user" to your username), GE-Proton11-9 will also be available to use in Steam.
Change umu-run "Z:\home\user..." to point to where you have StarCraft II installed. If you haven't installed StarCraft II yet, point it to Battle.net.exe instead.
If you aren't using Wayland, remove "PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1". If you don't know what Wayland is, try launching the game with "PROTON_ENABLE_WAYLAND=1", and if the game doesn't start, remove it.
This example is for a screen with 1920x1080 resolution at 120Hz. Read the gamescope documentation for info on how to configure it for other resolutions and refresh rates. (Run "gamescope --help" to view documentation.)

i wanna be able to hold my own in ranked matches of brood war and not get completely stomped.
are there go-to build orders and whatnot that could help me get back into the game? it holds a special place in my heart but everyone is sooo good at it and i'm not!

Starting to see why artosis hates your guts guys, u guys are fucking disgusting xD
But jokes aside, if terran represents the firepower and unkillable fortress, zerg represents the swarm and waves after waves of enemy attacks , I think protoss represents hypnotism and illusion and u guys are living up to it, it really brings the worst in me so well done xD

Let Zergs rally queens please. I’m not even asking for them to be able to be batched and added to a control group like eggs but please just being able to rally them would be a massive QoL improvement.
-Thank you for your attention to this matter.

While 5.0.16 was a collection of terrible changes, I think there were some good qol buffs for protoss and and anti-turtle ideas that we should keep in the game:
If we want to go back even further, there are over 70+ changes from previous patches that could be reverted to improve strategic variety and build diversity across all stages of the game.

[Dark Templar Surveillance & Enforcement Log — Final Disposition of the Terran Base on Earth]
- First Visit Report: SCVs were throwing a dance party while tearing Marines and Medics limb from limb. ➡️ Firebat technology transferred for sanitation and containment purposes.
- Second Visit Report: When the first Firebats were deployed, those same SCV bastards broke down in tears, signed written pledges swearing, "We'll never dance again. We'll work hard and never tear Marines or Medics apart again!" But behind our backs, they converted the Firebats into club-style mirror-ball lighting systems and threw a 24/7 all-night fire-dancing rave. To make matters worse, they had the audacity to mock the Dark Templar and attempt a coup armed with industrial drills.
⛓️ Enforcement Measures: 24/7 Forced Vespene Gas Mining Automation System Activated
The Dark Templar linked every Extractor (Vespene Gas Refinery) in the base to the armor-suit operating systems (OS) of all 100 SCVs through a psionic network, executing a “Forced Labor Macro Programming” protocol.
- Anti-Dancing Shackles: The system was configured to deliver a 50,000-volt electric shock from inside each SCV's armored suit whenever it attempted to perform World War I or World War II trench-warfare dance steps, or even tried to hum the Terran battle theme with its mouth: “Baam~ baam~ ba-ba-baam~”
- Infinite-Power Refinery Drudgery: All 100 SCVs are now trapped in an endless loop, marching in perfectly aligned columns of four against their will. They walk to the Vespene gas geysers, pick up gas canisters, and deliver them to the Command Center—over and over again, with no possibility of escape.

All the games on the regular version of Starcraft now seem so bland. There's not much of different strategies being used, every race is playing the same style. Terran always uses marine-marauder-tank/mine into banshee into ghost-viking and turtling. Protoss goes for blink stalkers, oracle and HT. Zerg usually has more variety, but they mostly play hydralingbane into mass lurker late game.
PatchesSC mod brought more variety, more new upgrades and aggression possibilities. It also seems more lore-accurate and appropriate. A lot of the changes are so cool and interesting, and i hope it grows into something bigger. Right now PatchesSC ladder is empty and most tournaments switch on over to live version, but i can't move on from the mod. Am i the only one here?
