Hey partners!
I’m an SSV and wanted to get some clarification about Starbucks’ attendance policy and Shift Marketplace.
I consider myself a reliable and hardworking partner. I’m consistently on time, rarely call out, and take my responsibilities seriously.
Lately, I’ve been offering one of my weekly shifts through Shift Marketplace to prioritize my mental health, well-being, and work-life balance. Having two consecutive days off helps me recharge. I also frequently pick up other shifts during the week, so I’m not necessarily reducing my working hours.
Whenever I offer a shift, another qualified SSV accepts it through the app, and it automatically disappears from my schedule. The shift is fully covered.
Recently, I became aware that consistently offering shifts might be considered irregular attendance, similar to frequent call-offs, even when another partner accepts them.
I reviewed some internal scheduling and attendance resources but couldn’t find a clear policy specifically addressing this situation.
I’m genuinely curious:
Can regularly offering shift through Marketplace lead to corrective action even when they’re fully covered?
Is Shift Marketplace intended only for emergencies, or can partners use it to manage their schedules?
Does Starbucks distinguish between offering a shift in advance and actually calling off?
I understand the importance of reliable scheduling, but I’m trying to understand how successfully transferred shifts are treated under the attendance policy.
Would appreciate any insight, especially from partners familiar with the current policy.
Thanks! ☕
