😠 Rant 😠 If a barista asks you politely to not record them, stop. You never know what people are experiencing.

I don’t know how else to put it but if an employee of any establishment asks you to not film them please just don’t. Im someone who is trying to escape domestic violence and now have the fear of my face being on someone’s video.

ā€œI’m not recording you, it’s just for my content.ā€

So many people lack internet safety. It’s so easy to open someone’s account look at the background and see street addresses, license plates, or landmarks and find out what state and city someone is in. As someone who had to uproot their life to flee domestic violence thank you to the woman who recorded me today and said ā€œit’s for my content.ā€ I don’t understand people’s lack of understanding that it is not normal or okay to just film people. With the normalization of meta glasses, and just filming others in public I can’t begin to comprehend why people can’t realize how harmful that is.

Obviously I know I’m gonna get people telling me ā€œwell you can’t always avoid being filmed.ā€ And yeah great gotcha moment there. But if I can avoid it I will. Everyone wants their big content creator moment and I understand that, but there’s so many ways to become a successful creator while prioritizing others online safety as well as your own.

*edit: I know I can usually ask people to please not film but this took place as a less than a minute interaction in the drive thru and I’m just generally venting my frustrations.

šŸ“– Storytime I got death stared at by an old lady

Scene: Thursday peak

Me: on window. My DTO is running around multitasking.

Next car pulls up. I greet her, "Good morning! It'll be 13.60 today."

Old lady. She doesn't say a word. Starts shaking her head. Makes unwavering eye contact with me. The card reader is in my hand. I am trapped. She continually shakes her head for 15 seconds straight, which feels like an eternity. Finally I am graced with her speech. "No, no, no, no..." like something out of Obsession. My eyes are locked with hers. I decide it would be in the best interest of my life to wait this out.

Eventually she must have thought I looked either confused enough or terrified enough to clarify: "It's a mobile order for Dee."

I hunt down her drink and hand it out. Started questioning if I saw a spirit.

Stop coming in Sick !!!

So many people will be hot and bothered by this but I get MULTIPLE customers a day coming in sick. And yeah don’t come through the drive thru either ! We have to work 200 HOURS just to cover a standard 8 hour shift. So while it may be a minor inconvenience to oh idk not get other people sick and not stop in for one day. It very much so sucks for us when we get sick because of you. Like I said ik people are going to get upset but consider it for our perspective for once

PSA: We ask for your name because we are trained to do so.

Yes, there is the high likelihood that you'll have the app already and therefore your name will pop up anyway, but we don't know that. Getting your name in the case you don't have the app is incredibly helpful in ensuring your order is handed out to you promptly. Don't be afraid to spell the name out if need be. We don't always ask for names even though we are supposed to but, if we do... Well, that's the main reason why.

Policy Question Time off approval

I submitted a time off request for my vacation starts from the 28th a while ago. No one accepts it and now I got assigned to a schedule in that time off. I tried to reach out to my manager and let her know I won’t be available that week but she didn’t say anything and left me on read. What should I do? Will I get written up for not showing up that week?

😠 Rant 😠 customers are getting worse

i work in starbucks uk and i’ve been in my same store for almost 3 years now. i don’t know if it’s just me but does anyone else think customers are becoming more and more hostile?

today i had to remake a drink 3 times whilst a very angry lady stood over me and reprimanded me over a simple mistake that could have had an easy fix (i did not make the mistake im a supervisor and had to step in to help my coworker) she said she will come behind and make her drink herself and shouted me because i did everything in the wrong order?

then a very drunk man shout about the prices of the drinks and proceed to sit in the main seating on the phone to someone talking about how his name was spelled slightly wrong and bow we overcharged him.

i had a nervous breakdown a few weeks ago resulting in me having to take some time on and i fear it’s going to happen again šŸ™šŸ™šŸ™

Hiring/Interviewing Tips for an SSV interview?

Hey everyone! I am a year long partner who has the opportunity to interview to be an SSV at one of my neighboring stores. I know the manager well, and my DM is going to be there as well. I know the STAR method and all that but I was curious if anyone had any tips for specifically SSV interviews, highlights of their own interview, to really send it home and secure the position. I know this sub tends to be very frustrated with the company, and I understand some of those concerns, but I want to grow with Starbucks. Thank you all in advance!! 🫔

I Quit! EX PARTNERS! Why did you quit?

I recently quit starbucks for the SECOND time… I was a partner back in 2021-2024 and I left to go to school, and then I worked there from 2026 June-September, I left because I got into a car accident, they DENIED my accommodations written by my doctor, forcing me to take an LOA, and then acted confused that I took an LOA and were mean asf to me…..

Just curious everyone else’s reason!

Recipe Question Erm, am I supposed to just know how to make these?

The pink protein drink literally just has pink drink as the base and that’s it lol. I assume it’s protein milk instead of coconut, but how am I supposed to know for sure it’s not protein cold foam?

And then apparently the base drink for the sticky bun is the sticky bun, so no pecan right? /s

I tried looking up the recipes on store resources and asking my shifts but no one knows. I hate it here.

Can regularly offering same shift through Shift Marketplace be considered irregular attendance?

Hey partners!
I’m an SSV and wanted to get some clarification about Starbucks’ attendance policy and Shift Marketplace.
I consider myself a reliable and hardworking partner. I’m consistently on time, rarely call out, and take my responsibilities seriously.

Lately, I’ve been offering one of my weekly shifts through Shift Marketplace to prioritize my mental health, well-being, and work-life balance. Having two consecutive days off helps me recharge. I also frequently pick up other shifts during the week, so I’m not necessarily reducing my working hours.

Whenever I offer a shift, another qualified SSV accepts it through the app, and it automatically disappears from my schedule. The shift is fully covered.

Recently, I became aware that consistently offering shifts might be considered irregular attendance, similar to frequent call-offs, even when another partner accepts them.

I reviewed some internal scheduling and attendance resources but couldn’t find a clear policy specifically addressing this situation.

I’m genuinely curious:
Can regularly offering shift through Marketplace lead to corrective action even when they’re fully covered?
Is Shift Marketplace intended only for emergencies, or can partners use it to manage their schedules?
Does Starbucks distinguish between offering a shift in advance and actually calling off?

I understand the importance of reliable scheduling, but I’m trying to understand how successfully transferred shifts are treated under the attendance policy.

Would appreciate any insight, especially from partners familiar with the current policy.
Thanks! ā˜•

😠 Rant 😠 i miss the old dragonfruit base

is it just me or the mango dragonfruit refresher WITH WATER NO LEMONADE taste so nasty now ever since they changed the base..? i know they mainly just cut the caffeine from the original base but now that i order a drink it’s always SUPER watered down where i literally cannot taste anything??? yes i order it with water but there was always still flavor to it. its practically just drinking pink water with ice 🫩 i know the base has to be diluted or whatever but is it possible that the baristas may accidentally overdo it bc i swear it taste so bad now. ive stopped buying it ever since šŸ’” starbucks is literally making drinks worse

Hiring/Interviewing There’s a second interview??

So I just got interviewed today by the Store Manager for a Barista position, she told me I’d hear something from her by early next week. I’m really nervous so I skimmed through this subreddit and apparently a lot of people are saying they had to do a second interview with the District Manager. The store manager didn’t tell me this. So is it likely I will have to go through a second interview? This is for a drive thru only store btw

it did brought back memories when it used to be fun working at sbx tho lol

Positivity Update on me getting fired

So yesterday I posted about me getting fired from Starbucks. A quick update on that, after I posted I filled out like 50 applications to various job postings. Thankfully a few actually got back with me pretty quickly and I have a few interviews set up. Prayerfully one of those companies will give me a chance and I’ll have a new job within the next 2 weeks.

As far as my friend, they called me earlier kinda upset because they had just gotten done talking to our manager over the phone and unsurprisingly, they were fired as well. After they calmed down, they said it technically wasn’t too bad as their parents still financially support them so they can slowly search around for another job. Good for them but I don’t have that luxury to wait.

So that’s some good news there. Fingers crossed those interviews go well.

My app doesn’t work anymore so I have been using the web browser to access my account. There’s a ā€˜Scan in Cafe’ option on the website browser that I had not seen before. On the 2nd picture, does that mean I need to add money in order to use this option? There is a barcode for scanning at the bottom which I cut off in the picture. I am learning how to use the web browser option. I don’t want to purchase a gift card to link to my account and keep adding money. It’s a hassle to me.

Using stars

For the love of God if you want to redeem stars you have to tell the barista. We are not automatically going to apply them for you. Many baristas’ first instinct when you show them a gift card with $20 on it, is to charge that card. I encourage new baristas to not charge right away but it does happen. If you don’t tell us it’s YOUR FAULT!!!! This lady threw a giant fit about it this morning. Communicate with us. We aren’t mind readers

šŸ“– Storytime Rushing Bar Training

Im a rehire but at a licensed location. Im going through my first week of actual training on the floor.

Lots of the drinks I remember but anything that came out this year i dont. I felt like I was just thrown on bar. I knew what was up when my manager told me he was going to leave me on bar while he does stuff. Id work with a few people and it went okay. I was interested in the training because mine when I was at corporate wasnt perfect and Im just looking for feedback from my coworkers in case I had been doing anything wrong the whole time. (I was never on hot bar at my corporate store.) He said thats everything looked good and wants to rush finishing bar and training so that im certified. All of those bannana and matcha drinks and chai confuse me. When do i put the sauces in the steaming pitcher?

Its like he dosent explain anything and just keeps asking me If I know something. Its annoying. I get that he wants to rush through everything since I was at a DT store but I might need more training. I didnt care for the AI training where they quizzed me and then sometimes explained the material that they were quizzing me on.
