Confirm someone’s alumni status
Hello! I am in a weird situation and we (our friend group) have reason to believe that one of our friends is lying about their alumni status from the Stanford graduate school of business. Would any recent alums could do a quick search on the alumni directory to verify?
Many thanks in advance!

Not eligible to vote in Palo Alto City Council elections?
I was just checking my sample ballot from Santa Clara county, so that I could be prepared once I receive my actual mail-in ballot. However, I just realized that there is no section for voting in the Palo Alto City Council.
Just double checked the city boundaries, and yep, all of the campus housing is in Stanford, CA, a CDP unicorporated region, and isn't part of the proper city of Palo Alto. I guess it shouldn't be that much of a surprise, given that my zip code is literally for Stanford, CA - but it is frustrating to find out.
Has there ever been any move to try and move the city boundary to be part of the housing section of the university? I would imagine that Stanford would be strongly, strongly opposed to this. Are there any benefits from not being part of the city Palo Alto, and just being in Stanford instead?

transferring out
for those who transferred out of Stanford undergrad, why did you transfer out, what was your major/year? are you happy you made that decision?

Stanford staff: Do you need to provide references when transferring internally?
When I first joined Stanford, I was asked to provide 3 references, and they called all 3 people.
If I apply for a position in a different department as an internal candidate, will the new department ask me to provide references again? Or do they usually rely on my existing employment record at Stanford?
Would appreciate hearing from anyone who has gone through an internal transfer. Thanks!

Housing Question Looking for lease takeover at my apartment
I am looking for someone to take over my part of the lease in a 2bed 2bath townhouse. Both are Stanford employees and looking for somewhere to find other Stanford employees to possibly take it over. Anyone know of places I could post this lease?

SUDPS Bike Sales
I heard that SUDPS has bike sales for all the old bikes they remove. Does anyone know when the next bike sale will be? I see a general announcement on the page linked below, but no information on dates for the next sale.

Oval Parking Until 6PM is Stupid
Literally everywhere A permit zones are free after 4PM. So yeah, the dumb ass OP parked there and duh, got ticketed at 5PM.

Math 61 CM Midterm
Is it normal to do absolutely horrible on the first midterm in Math 61 CM? How close to the median score should I be to reasonably consider staying in the class instead of switching to 51 if my goal is a B or higher? Thanks!

Searching for a club or group for electronic music / modulars.
Hello,
I was wondering if there is any activities at Stanford that focus on either building synthesizers and effects with electronics or just playing with modular synths. Or any activity, even creating VSTs or playing with Ableton etc. Would be extremely interesting in joining for a session 😀.

Is Stanford a good school for law?
i know this question might sound stupid, but for me it's no a little bit of background, i'm not Amrican, i'm Italian, and moving to America is very "risky" ad difficult, the cost and everything, and my dream is to be a prosecutor, and soon i'm going to University, so, is it worth it?

So fucked for Math 51 midterm
As a chronic procrastinator who has not gotten out of the habit from high school, I am beyond fucked for my math 51 midterm on Thursday. In HS, I could simply cram the night before and do fine on every test. I realize I only understand about 4 out of the 8 lectures (did not pay attention in other 4 and lecturer is kinda bad). Have barely read textbook.
What are the best ways to cram? Tips and tricks for the class + where to study? I will prepare better for the next midterm I promise.

Stanford bike shop price range
Hey, I recently got a Fuji Absolute 1.9 from the campus bike shop. I worked with Aaron to find the bike and everything that I need. I got the bike for $700, and the rest of the basic package, including a free helmet, a safety lock, and the lights, which in total sum up to $1000. I am wondering if this price is right? I am new in this area and am still just arriving at this area. But I heard good things about the bike shop, but somehow I felt a bit uncomfortable about the price because I felt like they told me the basic package included everything, and when I paid them, it somehow added to the price.
Thank you.

Scuba buddy
Hey, I am planning a trip for my scuba diving to get a rescue cert in Lake Tahoe. I plan to do it the week of Oct. 28th. Since it will be a two-day program, I am looking for a scuba diving buddy on campus. I am open to either the weekend before or Oct. 28th + Oct. 29th, kind of thing. Is there a scuba diving community on campus? Thank you.

Housing Question Room Swap
Hi, I’m wondering if anyone with a single in Lagunita Court (Naranja, Norcliffe, etc) would want to trade for a single with one of the houses with a chef? We can arrange a deal/price.

Is C Permit parking free on weekends?
Hey everyone! I work on Stanford’s campus on weekends only, and I wanted to clarify how weekend parking works.
I usually park at Thoburn Garage and try to find a visitor parking spot, but those spaces tend to fill up by around noon, which makes finding parking pretty frustrating.
I’ve noticed there are also commuter parking spots (C Permit) with signs that specifically say “6 AM to 4 PM, Monday–Friday.”
I also checked Stanford’s official Transportation website, which states that commuter parking is enforced Monday through Friday, 6 AM to 4 PM, unless otherwise posted.
Source: Stanford parking
Based on that, I’m assuming C Permit parking is free on Saturdays and Sundays, but I wanted to double-check before risking a ticket.
Does anyone regularly park in C Permit spots on weekends without a permit? Have you ever had any issues or received a citation?
Just trying to make sure I’m following the rules. I’d appreciate any clarification. Thanks!
