Hey everyone!
I recently got a job, and I'm starting to wonder how I'm going to balance working with grinding speedruns.
Before getting a job, I could probably spend more time practicing, learning new strategies, resetting runs, and going for PBs. But now that I have work to worry about, I'm not sure how to manage my time effectively.
Speedrunning already requires a lot of practice, and sometimes you can spend hours grinding without getting a single good run. After a long day at work, finding the energy and motivation to keep practicing might be another challenge.
For those of you who have jobs and still actively speedrun, I'd love to hear your advice!
- How many hours do you usually spend speedrunning per day or per week?
- Do you practice after work or save most of your grinding for the weekends?
- How do you stay consistent when you have limited time to play?
- How do you deal with resets and bad runs when you're already tired from work?
- Do you focus on one game and category at a time, or do you switch between multiple games?
- How do you balance going for PBs with work, sleep, and your personal life?
I'm still interested in improving my times and getting more PBs, but I also want to find a sustainable routine that doesn't leave me exhausted.
I'd especially love to hear from speedrunners who started working recently and had to adjust their practice schedules.
Thanks in advance for any advice!
