Is this generally a good rate? I've been thinking of consolidating for years but been too scared of scams and ruining my credit. I've heard good things about SoFi, so I got this quote and just looking for advice. Thank you in advance y'all 🫡

Banking Embarrassing: Accounts Drained

Anna Lee, Mason, and every SoFi employee who’s ever taken calls before you... thank you. My wife and I went through the most terrifying financial moment of our lives, and your team kept us steady when everything felt like it was collapsing. Even when the calls dropped, which happens with overseas centers, you called back within minutes. That alone kept us grounded.

We still don’t know exactly how the breach happened. About two and a half weeks ago, I received a text asking if I had attempted to sign in, along with a two‑factor authentication code. I typed “N,” but a “Y” appeared on the screen just before my response.

That was the moment I knew I just got hacked.

I immediately called SoFi, but the attackers were already in motion. They drained everything that wasn’t locked in vaults, converted my checking and savings into Bitcoin, and moved it out. They took my small amount of Solana. They queued a six‑figure stock sale for the next morning. They even used my SoFi credit card on a gaming site. All of this happened within five minutes. I canceled the stock trade, and SoFi stopped the credit card charge. Oddly, the stock sale still executed the next morning, but I bought everything back at a nice profit. At the time, that felt like the only bright spot.

How did this happen? We have a theory, and it is only a theory. I had just switched from Xfinity cable internet to Kinetic fiber internet. I have an enterprise TP‑Link Deco Mesh system, and one of the Decos acts as the router/firewall with Norton HomeShield. I believe HomeShield failed. The attackers accessed my laptop, logged into my SoFi account, and because I had Authenticator set to “remember device,” they bypassed it. I also had Phone Link enabled, which meant they could see incoming text messages and respond to the two‑factor prompts instantly. They moved incredibly fast.

After countless calls, escalations, and retelling the entire story to multiple fraud teams, everything is finally resolved. All of my money is back in my checking and savings accounts. A new credit card is on the way. My investment accounts have stabilized and somehow I ended up ahead. The only thing still pending is the three Solana coins.

I’ve since reformatted both laptops and my Surface, changed passwords repeatedly, disabled saved passwords and trusted devices, and limited Phone Link to my Surface only. I also installed a separate router/firewall appliance.

I truly appreciate the hard work everyone at SoFi put into turning what could have been a catastrophic financial disaster into a frightening but ultimately educational experience.

If you think it can’t happen to you, you’re probably relying on a false sense of security.

Thank you, everyone. Happy, happy, happy.

And if you’re on the fence about switching to SoFi, just do it. Stop thinking about it, open the accounts, and learn from what happened to me.

One more thing, can I please get a hoodie?

Product Request & Feedback We need joint everything

Joint banking, joint crypto, joint investing, joint credit cards

The big trend for young millennial/old Gen Z when getting married is having both separate and joint accounts for everything. A joint smart card that gets great cash back on groceries and dining would be the ideal joint credit card. Make it happen

Lending Accidentally closed a loan application offering 7.20% now the new application is offering in 10.80%. Perfect credit score of 799. Why?

I started a personal loan application 1 week ago, and it offered me 7.20% APR. Today I was ready to accept the offer but instead of continuing the same application, I deleted and started a fresh application. And now my APR jumped by more than 3%. Called customer care but they won’t restore the original offer. 😢

Banking Truly have never been more frustrated in my life

I've honestly never had an issue with Sofi. I've deposited checks before and it takes a lil longer nbd. I recently deposited a check over an amount that triggers some security which I understand. However I was first told that it'd be available 8 days after I deposited it. Then I received notice that it would be available earlier. The smaller amounts on different days never came, customer service told me it was pending initial review. Then I was told it was flagged by the security team. Now they're saying they can't get in contact with the provider, and I have to reach out to them to play telephone. It's an insurance check from one of the largest insurance companies cut and paid by Chase Bank. I don't understand, is their security team full of untrained 10 year olds? What the hell am I supposed to say to the insurance company hey my bank doesn't know how to contact you. Isn't the entire point of the flagging system that they separately contact the issuer to verify validity? What're we doing??? God forbid I have to call sofi back and fight through their AI rep, then again through another rep who doesn't seem to ever understand that their script won't help me. I'm not mad at the people working the front lines but fuck after 14 calls it gets harder and harder to be nice. If this check eventually gets rejected it puts me out another week to get one reissued. Preaching to the choir I know but what the fuck. At this point it would've been worth bringing it to one of those shady check cashers for a 60/40 split (I have no idea how check cashers work but they all look shady). I just got off a 2 month LOA at work and my boss walked by me talking to a representative from sofi and he was like maybe you should take a few more days off just to deal with them.

Credit Card Chase Saphire Balance Transfer Not Working

I'm trying to do a balance transfer from Saphire to Sofi and it keeps saying invalid. Sofi says maybe Chase won't allow the transfer, but Saphire says it should work. Anyone deal with this before?

Lending Is this a legitimate process?

I have an existing personal loan with SoFi and decided to refinance. I submitted my application and almost immediately received a phone call from their support number. The only information they asked for before I hung up was my name and DOB and I just didn’t trust it. I went to SoFi’s website and called their support line back from there and talked to someone who said they were calling due to a security alert that I had to do some verification for. They said they were going to hang up and call me back later, which is the part that doesn’t make sense to me and makes me nervous. It was the SoFi support person who said this but again I’ve never heard of that before and don’t recall this happening the first time around.

Has this happened to anyone else and was it legit? Terrified of being scammed.

Bullshit customer service when you need it.

Over 12 disputed transactions that where suppose to be credited to my account by 10/8 photos attached, when you put these robotic dopes on the spot and repeat to them there own information they stutter and read off a script to you and keep apologizing but will by no means clear up your issue instead they will keep telling you to call back for a later update when they can’t stick to there own terms and agreements. Will be running first chance I get to close this bs. Any other bank your money would have been back already.

Banking Direct Deposit With SoFi?

Hello, I recently moved from using CashApp as my primary banking app to SoFi and set up my direct deposit around September 30th. I’m here asking when exactly I would get paid this week? My official payday every two weeks is Friday but with CashApp I received my deposit Wednesday night around 10pm but I see with SoFi I’m eligible for early pay up to 2 days early and I’m just c as to how long it takes and if anyone else has also been through a similar situation.

Banking Mobile deposit check release date keeps changing

I deposited a check on 10/9 and was given a date of 10/15 for $500 to be released and 10/16 for the rest. I was then shown a date of 10/19 for the whole check and today it’s 10/20. Why would the date keep getting later? Checks for $3000.

Banking Automatic Transfers into Vaults Not Working Properly

Hey everyone! First post on this sub so I apologize if I'm breaking any rules. Wondering if anyone else also has this issue. I have four vaults in my savings. None of them have goals. I changed the amount that gets put into the vaults with each direct deposit, but it's still allocating using the old settings I used to have, if that makes sense. It's been doing this for a few weeks now, even after I change it back every time.

I wish there was a screen where you can see what your current transfer settings are for each vault and change them that way. Wondering if there's a fix or solution anyone has if they also had this issue! Thanks everyone!

Booked a round trip to belgium, and another from belgium to houston. Never got my rewards points, and just assumed I set the whole thing up wrong. A couple days ago I noticed I had thousands of points, and then I looked for this email. They always seem to make things right without me having to even ask.

Relay Credit monitoring referral

I had 10 people sign up with my link and complete the credit monitoring referral. The bonus hasn’t showed up for any of them. Customer service through the chat said that they could see that they completed it and it would take 7 business days to post. I waited the 7 business days and nothing and so reached out again, they said again that they could see it and to wait a few more days and check again. I then called after 3 more days and the phone representative is saying I have to have a 3 way call with each of the 10 people because they can’t verify that they did it without permission. Someone is lying and I’m out my referral bonus. Anyone else have this problem? I can get 1 person but not 10.

Hi!

I am looking for a loan with SoFi and hope y’all can help me.

My credit score is 639 and didn’t get approved just now. At what credit score would they approve me for or at? I know other factors are involved but would appreciate some insight.

I am looking for a $3k loan for June 2027. Thanks.

Banking Delayed history & account balance updates

Hello, I am having an issue where I have made about 50,000 in payments that I cannot find in my history and my account balance is not updating, this makes it hard to plan and is delaying me from pulling the rest of the money into a different investment. The balance is posted already received by everyone. Anyone else having this delayed payment visibility / updating? also for reference it has been 2-4 days

Banking Signup bonus

Hi!
I just signed up and realized I'm not going to get the $400 signup bonus because I'm not getting paid enough to reach the $5000 total deposits in 25 days and the offer expires at the end of the year. If I close the account now and signup in spring when I'll be paid more, do I still get the at-that-time bonus?
Thank you!

Banking New to HYSA, Looking at SoFi promotion. Am I understanding correctly?

Finally got to a point in life where we have a sizable savings account. Looking to see if I can have that money make a little extra money. Right now we have a savings account and a checking account at a traditional bank for paying bills. I'm wanting to combine them into a single account and learned about HYSAs. So I'm thinking about combining our savings and checkings into a single SoFi Plus account but the idea of an online bank is new to me. Total amount would be about 19,000 (but might go down to 10,000 due to a major house repair).
4.5% APY seems more than worth it plus unlimited withdrawals means I can continue to pay bills with that portion of the money. We need to keep an account open at our traditional bank due to certain family accounts and will be transfering money between the two 2-4 times a month. One or both of us can change our direct deposit payrolls into the HYSA (together over 5,000 but individually not). 4.5%*19k=$855=$71.25 a month (plus the $400 bonus). I'm not sure what the fees would be to transfer between SoFi and my current bank, but I can continue to pay bills with the SoFi Savings thanks to unlimited withdrawals, move money into other bank's Checkings 2-4 times a month (with a fee), and have mine/our payrolls direct deposited into the SoFi HYSA weekly.

Making the jump from a traditional bank to an online bank seems daunting to me. Am I understanding all this correctly?
