📢 Announcement [New and Improved] Discord Server Open!

Hello all! We have a new and growing Discord, more than 100 comrades have joined in the first month!

If you had attempted to join the Discord through the auto-mod response, or through the sidebar's link, you were formerly directed towards a dead server. Now, the server is pretty much set up.

We are also looking to start a book club soon using the Discord to meet, but will have discussion posts here too for those who do not want to participate in the discord.

It is still pretty bare bones, we have roles and channels set up however suggestions can be made *within the server* on things that could be added. We are looking at ways to get more people engaged and looking for suggestion on activities we can do as a community related to socialism.

For now, here is the invite link, join away!

Like I GET the sentiment, I do, but is this really the best way to frame the conversation? Leftists should be angry about both why is it liberal to speak out against blatant misogyny on national tv. As a woman I wouldn’t feel comfortable joining this org is all I’m saying sorry for the rant but am I the only one that thinks this sucks???

Activism Fight for brasil

I'm a Brazilian and we are in the middle of a huge election and social media is playing a big part in it.

The left here is right now fighting to get their messages through to the people.

Meta has already confirmed to some sort of mistake with Lula's range on their plataform.

Zuckerberg, Musk and other strongmen from big tech companies have been trying to control public opinion into electing Jair Bolsonaro's son, Flavio Bolsonaro,Trump's puppet.

Please pay attention to our country right now. Global eyes are a must have.

Please hit like, help this show up to more people.

Sexual Harassment Policy

Sexual harassment, along with all sexist and misogynist ideas and practices, serves the ruling class by driving a wedge between men and women workers, disrupting the chances for working-class unity, and reinforcing the domination of the ruling class.  Sexual harassment creates an environment of fear, intimidation, and humiliation, and is hostile to the target’s full participation in our movement.  Most often the target is women.  In the Communist Party USA, sexual harassment is not an acceptable behavior on the part of any comrade.  Leadership is held to an especially high standard and is expected to set an example of inclusion and respect for the entire Party.

Sexual harassment includes:

persistent or abusive unwanted sexual attention

promises of benefits in exchange for sexual compliance

threats of reprisals for refusing to comply with sexual advances

unwanted behaviors including assault, physical abuse (touching, cornering), verbal abuse (lewd comments, jokes, and sexual insults)

These constitute sexual harassment whether they occur in face-to-face interactions, telecommunications, or via social media.  Sexual harassment can involve conduct by a person of any gender toward a person of the same or another gender.

Comrades who have adopted ruling-class forms of male supremacist domination sometimes do not recognize their own complicity in misogynist ideas and practices.  All comrades should be encouraged to work to promote a conscious working-class culture opposed to sexism and misogyny within our spheres of influence in a way that orients all toward behaviors consistent with the struggle for full equality.

Comrades who call out sexism and incidents of sexual harassment in any form must be protected against intimidation, pressure, and retaliation for doing so.  Fighting for the dignity and full social, political, and economic equality for women is the obligation of all Party members, especially men who are expected to engage in struggle with other men toward a class-conscious winning approach.

Education and discussion may be enough to enable comrades to overcome negative ideas and practices.

Comrades should assist each other in informal discussions to understand sexual harassment and to avoid creating hostile environments for others in the movement.

If education and discussion are not sufficient, or if the offense is especially glaring or damaging, action should be taken including informing the district leadership (where there is such) and the designated representative of the National Board.  Anyone found repeatedly to be engaged in offensive acts can be removed from positions of leadership and even membership within the Party.  If comrades have experienced or witnessed sexual harassment, they should consult with their district leadership and the designated representative of the National Board for guidance on how to proceed.

Adopted by the National Committee, Communist Party USA, April 2018

By comparison, one from August. It's not from that long ago, and I still like the "old" one very much, but I'm really, really proud of how it came out today

Politics Israel is just the trashcan of the US

• Upvotes

Israel isn't "controlling the US", it's simply a colony they route all their heinous shit through so people blame it instead of the wider american imperialist system. Israel fucking everything up now just like the CIA fucking everything up 70 years ago are the same thing, they just moved the place from which they do it.

Theory Michael Parenti Books

• Upvotes

Hello, im currently reading Blackshirts and Reds by Michael Parenti and I'm realizing that I should probably get my hands on anything else he has written. Problem is, the only book I can get in physical form in my country is Blackshirts and Reds, there is nothing else available on the bookstores and there's no way in hell im buying a kindle.

Does anyone know a way I can find the books online?

Discussion This website was one of the things that radicalized me... you would genuinely struggle to ever spend this much wealth in a thousand lifetimes, even with 1% of Bill Gates' wealth you could make life of a king look like that of a peasant, and bill gates isn't even in the top 10 richest people anymore.

these greedy traitors to our society should be jailed for life

if they lost 99% of their wealth they would still be fucking billionaires

i know taxing the rich doesn't fix the core issues of capitalism but at least after the new deal there was a period of enough taxation, redistribution of wealth and better working conditions that people thrived for a while, then regan repealed it all because that's what happens under a capitalist political system...

i'm so mad, we all have to slave away at jobs, either being physically or mentally exhausted, and that even includes cushy jobs, because you're still selling the limited time that you're alive away

You could buy a Boeing 747 airplane, 10 FREAKING MANSIONS, 10 Yachts, 100 single family homes, 100 gold bars, 100 ferraris 100 monster trucks, 100 teslas, 100 ford F-150's, 100 rolexes, 100 acres of farm land, 100 smartphones

AND YOU STILL WOULDN'T HAVE SPENT A BILLION...

i hate this shit.

News Reports from the front line – Spain, France and Germany | AGAINST THE STREAM

Today’s youth have grown up with nothing but war and crisis. As Marx explained, it’s the real conditions of society that shape consciousness. So it’s no surprise that many are reaching revolutionary conclusions on their own.

Class questions are coming to the fore everywhere. A decade ago, protests were often framed as calls for ‘more democracy’, or for voting in a different government. Those illusions are gone. On the streets of Spain, tens of thousands are chanting ‘Esto es lucha de clases, no podemos hacer las paces’ [this is class struggle, we cannot make peace] and ‘Los invasores son los inversores’ [the invaders are the investors].

Whilst the causes of these youth-led movements vary from country to country, the same host of issues are present everywhere: militarism, racism, police violence, housing, Palestine, and the climate crisis. Together they’re feeding a revolutionary mood across the continent.

Europe’s rulers have no way out. With inflation rising and governments buried in debt, they can’t keep the economy stable without provoking social and political upheaval. Years of austerity, decay, and inequality have built up the pressure, and now it’s bursting out.

News Three-year-old Maryam Ghanem in hospital with second degree burns after watching her mother burn alive because an Israeli attack.

Three-year-old Maryam Ghanem, the girl the world watched being carried out of a burning apartment in Gaza City at around 4am this morning, is now lying in Al-Shifa Hospital with second-degree burns. An Israeli occupation strike hit her family’s home while she slept, and she screamed as her mother burned to death in front of her. Her father was killed at the start of the genocide. Maryam is now an orphan, and her grandmother is all she has left. In this clip, the speaker asks what she did to deserve this, and says she survived only to bear witness against a world that has watched Gaza for three years and done nothing: witness to its betrayal, and to its silence. The Israeli occupation army has killed nearly 22,000 children in Gaza. “Speak up,” he says. “See us.”

If we measure the ratio of profits to wages in Marxist terms, namely as the rate of surplus value, we find that it has never been so high.
