Nitro at Great Adventure will not open today.
There are reports that state inspectors and 3rd party engineers were onsite yesterday and today, but the ride will remain closed.
Based on capacity, when Nitro is closed, I simply don't go. Lines everywhere swell beyond control.
Totally understandable to keep it closed, but I hope it's up by next weekend.

TRIP REPORT Fat guide to six flags great adventure 2026
Hi, Ive seen people ask questions about being bigger at sfga and not being able to have any prior knowledge, me included. This is the guide I wish I had before going. Please remember that not every body is the same, you could have the same exact dimensions as me and not fit on certain things. Also please don't leave hate comments, I understand that I'm a big guy but there's no reason to be rude. Please feel free to ask any questions you may have, nothing is off limits!
I am 6,1 337lbs and my weight is evenly distributed. I wear a 48 pant size and a 2xl tall shirt size.
Flash vertical velocity: Fit (no test seat)
Over my last few visits I've been battling with this ride and now I've lost enough weight to fit. It uses vekoma vest restraints which sit on your midsection. The sensors on this ride are very touchy so when the restraints are being verified I did end up holding my breath. It was a bit uncomfortable but not hard to breathe or anything.
Justice League: battle for metropolis: fit (no test seat)
Nice easy shooting ride, I've never had problems fitting on this ride (I've been going since I was around 350lbs). It's a lap bar but has tons of room.
Wonder woman: fit (has a test seat)
I've always fit on this ride ever since my former 350lb starting weight. It's an over the shoulder restraint but is very forgiving and fits tons of shapes and sizes. The only thing about it is it's a very hard piece of plastic so if the ride op staples you it might be a bit hard to breathe, that happened to me once and I asked them to redo it and they were nice about it.
Nitro: no fit? (Has a test seat)
I tried the test seat first and the way it works is there's a yellow piece of tape where the restraint needs to reach for you to fit. I saw the piece of tape and it was quite visible. I got into the ride seat and pulled the restraint,it clicked twice (it needs 3 clicks but sometimes the 3rd click is inaudible) but the ride op refused to push down (he was rlly rude about it and I heard him mumble as he was walking away that I shouldn't be this big where I need a push) so I bet I could have fit but next time I will for sure!
Batman: no fit (test seat)
Yeah no. I tried the test seat and I'm nowhere close. This is especially hard for people with larger tops because it has a very strict over the shoulder restraint.
Jersey devil: fit (has a test seat)
This ride is a bit weird with how it fits. It had a ratcheting system on the sides of the seat and you need it to go all the way in which is 3 full clicks. It uses a lap bar with straps over your shoulders. The way you sit is also very awkward for taller people. It has a big indent in the middle for the rail which made me put my legs in a weird upside down v shape. But it wasn't too uncomfortable actually, and I forgot about the discomfort on the ride to be honest.
Rapids: fit (no test seat)
Just a seatbelt, very forgiving. Keep in mind though that the seat belt goes across 2 people so I recommend sitting alone or with a pretty small person for the most comfort.
Joker: fit (no test seat)
Super big people friendly! Even better as a bigger person because you spin like crazy. It uses vest and lap bar restraints and huge bucket seats. The restraints are super comfortable and roomy. This is one of the best bigger person accommodating rides in the park!
Swings: fit (no test seat)
Seatbelt and bar restraints. Seatbelt is very forgiving, but bar can be a problem for people with bigger thighs and lower sections. It needs to click a belt from the bar to the latch which is in the part of he seat you sit on. It's around the crotch area, but gets covered for me by my thighs. I had to squeeze my thigh and click it in, but then it was good and comfortable.
Ferris wheel: fit (no test seat)
Easy one. No restraints or anything just a little car you board and doors close. One thing to note though is the doors are quite narrow so I had to enter walking sideways. Otherwise everyone should fit.
Run away mine train: fit/no fit (no test seat)
Okay so this is a weird one. For taller people your legs will suffer. I'm 6,1 and fit but it hurt my legs so bad. For people who are just bigger though it's fine. It uses just a lap bar but is moderately forgiving. I stopped fitting around 347 ish when I was shorter and bigger.
Log flume: fit (no test seat)
Everyone can fit on this as long as they fit in the log. There's no seat belt or anything, it's just a matter of whether you can get in the log or not.
Medusa: fit in the big boy seat (no test seat)
I haven't actually tried fitting in the regular seat to save myself the embarrassment, but I fit perfectly fine in the big seat. It uses over the shoulder restraints like batman but they are much less strict and have a seat for bigger people. The bigger seat uses 2 seatbelts on the sides rather than one in the middle for more clearance. It's still quite comfortable but there's not a whole lot of room by your arms.
El toro: no fit (has a test seat)
When walking into the test seat the worker at the gate told me that the test seats light was inaccurate and watched me put it down and said I would fit however I couldn't buckle the seatbelt on the actual seat. It uses a lap bar and seatbelt, the lap bar is supposed pretty fine, it's just the seatbelt being restrictive.
Superman: fit (has a test seat)
Didn't use the test seat bc there was a little kid sitting in it and I didn't wanna bother him. I got on and was able to get the first click, but you need atleast 2 to get the green light. The ride op gave it a push and it secured. For me it pushed in the sides of my hips and was a bit tight, but still not super uncomfortable.
Barrels of fun: fit (no test seat)
Just a lap bar and seatbelt, both were very forgiving and I didn't need any sort of push in the lap bar. (If your going on this with a friend make sure you guys sit together and leave the other side open. I went with a heavier friend and we were spinning so crazy.)
Thank you so much for reading and I hope this helps someone!

QUESTION Tricks and Treats
Hi! I’m thinking about visiting Six Flags Fiesta on November 1st, but I’m a little confused about how Tricks and Treats works. Are the rides open during the morning session as well?
I’m visiting San Antonio on vacation and would love to ride the roller coasters and make the most of my day at the park. Just trying to figure out how it all works!
Thanks so much!

QUESTION Question about Six Flags NJ Fright Fest tickets, season pass vs. regular ticket bundle.
So my friend and I want to visit Six Flags NJ on a Sunday to do the Fright Fest haunted mazes.
We do not plan on visiting again within the year, but are considering buying one season pass just because it includes parking and a small discount on some things.
We seem to only save about four dollars by doing it this way instead of buying regular tickets. Is there anything I am missing, or is there a even more affordable way to purchase these tickets?
Thank you.

Clamshell restraint
A little bit about the clamshell restraint system. There are four independent locking mechanisms in each seat but upstream there is a single failure point.
Just a little background: clamshell restraints have four independent locking mechanisms called pawls that operate around a single drum. Locks are staggered so if one tooth chips or a pawl fails to seat, the next one is engaged.
When a train enters the station, a bar mounted on the track pushes up underneath the train chassis and disengages the pawls which releases the lap bar. You can see the vertical linkage responsible for this to the left of the drum. This is the piece I would first begin to question.
Before dispatch the bar releases from the train chassis which then allows the restraints to lock. If the linkage is stuck and doesn’t reset (maybe it binds up due to a foreign object or lack of lubrication), the pawls will be held off the drum preventing the bar from locking into place. Essentially the bar cannot lock at this point.
Crucially, the proximity sensors on the train only monitor the angular position of the bar, not whether or not the bar is locked. If the bar is simply down, the sensors will think that everything is good.
This is why ride operators are trained to “push down, pull up”. It is the only way to verify that the release linkage has reset and allowed the pawls to engage.
Combine this with the fact that this restraint is very heavy and has dampeners built in, sometimes it can seem locked when it’s not.
If I had to guess, this lap bar was either not locked at all, or the linkage was partially jammed and none of the pawls were seating.

When a tragedy happens, like on Goliath, what is the protocol and SOP for staff in helping, comforting, and assisting the accompanying family members?
First off, I wish peace and healing to the family and witnesses. It was supposed to have been a day of family fun.
When the worst case scenario happens, how are the staff trained to help affected family and patrons?
Edit: I mainly ask pertaining to management and higher ups in the Six Flags organization.

Fury 305 closure (Carowinds)
Any thoughts on if/when Fury 325 might reopen at Carowinds given the recent tragedy? Have a trip to Charlotte scheduled for mid-December with riding Fury 325 being one of the main reasons for the trip. Not a big deal all things considered, though curious about the long-term future of the other rides across the Six Flags franchise that were closed as a result of what happened on Monday...

Would yall still go to six flags over GA after what happened yesterday??
So me and my friend are supposed to be going to Six Flags Over Georgia this weekend, but I heard someone fell off one of the rides and died yesterday….
I was really looking forward to going, and I still kinda wanna go, but now idk...he even asked me if we’re still going, and I was like we def won’t be getting on that(I’m pretty sure they closed it anyway).
Would y’all still go this weekend or would you wait? Do y’all think it’s safe to go, and does anyone know if they’ve closed any of the rides?

East region gold pass rant
Since we're loosing at park (great escape) next year are they adding a different park to the east region, Darien lake for example. I haven't seen any info on ot I'm assuming not but how do they justify the same price with 1 less park?

QUESTION Is it worth getting the express pass for haunted attractions for a Sunday night? (Six Flags Dorney Park)
I know that it saves you time and that the haunted houses get busy but I figured since I'm going on a Sunday night when many people have work/school the next day and I have no issue staying until close is it worth getting the express pass if it's $20 more?

RUMOR Next Coaster for Six Flags parks in 2028
I think Kings Island, Carowinds, and Great Adventure could get next coaster for 2028:
Kings Island: I think ArieForce One relocation could be fit there but, I think KI has already planning before AF1 been sold by Six Flags, I think it should be a ground up RMC tribute to Son of Beast. But I think I heard the rumor the next coaster could be something else than AF1.
Carowinds: There's rumors Carowinds is gonna get Vekoma Tilt planned for 2028 not AF1.
And Great Adventure: I have a feeling Great Adventure is planning for another coaster for Shoreline Pier Phase III, it might be ArieForce One relocation that fitting Shoreline Pier as themed to the airshow as more likely.
What are you think guys?

Those of you asking if what happened today at SFOG affected other parks, yes.
Was at Great Adventure with a friend of mine today and Nitro abruptly shutdown at around 5/6 PM with no explanation as to why. I assumed it was because it had been evacuated earlier in the day but was told by an employee it came from management. Only later did I find out what happened at Goliath and put the two together.
