Discussion Prompt You don’t have to share your opinion

I recently went to an annual camping get together with friends. Every year it’s and rejuvenating but this year was different. This year just a couple of people would not stop talking about politics and divisive topics. The experience was ruined even for the people that agreed with the shared political views.

It got me thinking on the fact that I don’t feel the need to constantly share my unsolicited opinion. I don‘t waste my time lecturing others in real life or online. This saves me so much unnecessary stress and keeps my life simpler.

As people trying to embrace simple living, what are your thoughts on “keyboard warriors” and what other ways do you simplify your life by limiting negative interactions?

edit: I’m glad this post sparked discussion! However, I’d like to point out that I’m not solely referring to politics when I say “sharing your unsolicited opinion”. I also don't believe I am above anyone, even those that may share different belief than me. I’m open to hearing all perspectives in life. I’m also interested in having a great time enjoying nature and focusing on the beauty around me with those that I love, being grateful and positive, on the few days off of work I get a year.

And I’m a Democrat white lesbian in the Midwest US for those that are concerned about my personal life.

Seeking Advice My life is too complicated

Right now I’m so overwhelmed. I have a house in the US and I also inherited a house from my dad in Canada. I’ve been living in it but it’s so full of stuff and the bills to maintain it are quite high. The cross border tax implications of owning a house in Canada are complex, making everything even worse. My son lives in my US house and has gotten comfortable there so now he is mad because he doesn’t want to leave. Canada is going through an employment crisis and I don’t think I can stay employed here much longer. I know I’m lucky but at the same time I’m struggling! 😥

Seeking Advice I want to be free from society. How can I do this?

I don't want to be in a society where billionaires control me, money and jobs depends on how I live my life, im forced to follow made up rules, im forced to be and act certain way, ex:professional, in order to survive. And the reason for all of this is: "Because you have too." "Because you have to play the game". Because I said so". Im sick of it. I just want to live my life. I don't care about imaginary green money, houses, credit, stocks, careers, etc. I just want to live.

Hello my friends,

I am not a productivity guru, I am simple human being trying to find joy wherever I go

I created a morning routine that defines who I am, nothing fancy , just

* a cup of freshly brewed coffee, I manually grind the coffee beans to dissociate

* journaling, writing sentences here and there

* learning Italian A1 level for 30 min

I am seriously not asking for more, I feel fulfilled

I get my work done, cook for myself then watch youtube

I would love to know about your morning rituals❤️

Discussion Prompt Is there a way to document our lives without turning them into content?

I’ve been thinking about how much of our lives we put on the internet just for it to disappear into the void. We take pictures of things we love, places we visit, little treasures we find at thrift stores, and then they’re buried under a thousand other posts. Eventually accounts get deleted, platforms shut down, and who knows what survives.

I don’t think sharing is the problem. I think social media has made everything about getting attention instead of paying attention. Likes, followers, algorithms, trying to make something interesting enough for strangers to care about. What happened to just noticing something because you thought it was worth noticing?

I’ve been working on an idea where ordinary people can contribute pictures and little observations from their communities to a growing record. Thrift store hauls, handmade creations, favorite local shops, peculiar things in someone’s yard, whatever catches their attention. No popularity contest, no pressure to build an audience. Just people documenting the world around them so there’s something to look back on years from now because it gets physically printed in a collectible format.

I know the irony of proposing another place on the internet to get away from social media. 😂 But I wonder if the difference is in what we’re trying to accomplish. Instead of creating content to keep people scrolling, what if we were creating something worth keeping?

I’m curious what people who value simple living think about that distinction.

Offering Wisdom One simple hack for simple living: care only for big things.

Think of impact of things you are facing and effects. If the consequences are trivial, small, not everlasting, survivable, and simply not relevant on a large scale then you give it less importance.

I've been doing this trick since I have memory and friends and fam do ask me what my secret is. It's mental peace and mental serenity.

You only get there from within yourself.
