Sharing / Insight 💡 After a Gateway session Meditation this morning, one insight hit hard: never speak ill of anyone

This morning, after a Monroe audio session and meditation practice, one line landed with total clarity: never speak ill of anyone. It felt like a full awakening, and then the reasons came flooding in.

**1. Everyone is already doing their best.**

Whoever a person is right now is the sum of all their causes, maybe across many lifetimes. "Karma" isn't quite the right word; it's closer to the output of a system running its structure. Given who they are, where they are, and what they can do, their best is exactly what you're seeing.

We're each running our own script, and when scripts meet, there's friction. Two hard objects don't merge on their own; you need heat or something in between. That's when "the highest good is like water" finally clicked for me. Water nourishes everything and holds everything. It isn't just a substance. It's a state: fluid.

**2. Negative words don't get you what you want.**

Speaking ill of someone spreads negative energy. It hurts them and rarely brings anything good back. That's very different from self-reflection: when I criticize myself, at least I know it's to grow. When I criticize someone else, they can't see my intent. Make it a habit and it gets worse, because even people who know you mean well start to push back.

**3. Words manifest.**

I believe we're all manifesters, and I know I am. So what we say matters enormously. One key to manifesting: only the keywords in a sentence really carry. Speak ill of others, and it can turn back on you.

**4. The deeper layer: we are one.**

I've long believed we're one with the universe, all part of a single whole. Look closer and each of us has a higher-dimensional self; anyone can reach the Dao or awaken to buddha-nature. Buddhism even says all things have it. Negative judgment comes from our lower-level thinking. From the higher self we all share, those words aren't just small. They're wrong.

And from oneness: speaking about others is speaking about yourself. Label someone, and you label yourself. If there's any chance it manifests back on you, that's reason enough to be careful. That's cause and effect too.

From today, I'm practicing this line and tuning myself to this frequency.

**P.S.** The moment the urge to speak ill arises, or the words slip out, that's the best feedback I can get. It means something in my practice isn't complete yet, and in that moment I'm thinking about it wrong.

**P.P.S.** I now feel more deeply what the phrase "see your mind, see your true nature" means.

Question ❓ Can you meditate while doing things?

I recently got into meditation and kind of don't understand the purpose. I read that the point of meditation is to be mindful and in the moment but can't I just practice this while doing things instead of meditating? I heard people do meditation as practice for that but I find it way better to do that instead of sitting somewhere for 10 minutes. Is this accomplishing the same thing? It seems like it is but maybe I'm wrong and don't know it.

Question ❓ What are your thoughts?

I used to meditate 10 minutes a day and practiced focusing on my surroundings throughout the day. I was able to stay present and avoided music/ social media everyday until 5pm which i allowed myself to indulge in afterwards.

but i became more lax overtime. i am not as strict when it comes to my music and phone use policy and i occasionally meditate a few times a week (10 mins a day max). I’m less present now but i can sometimes return back to focusing on my surroundings when i think too much.

On some days i don’t really think that much so i don’t feel like it need it but on some days it gets really bad. Should i go back to meditating daily or do you think it’s okay to only meditate when you think too much?

Question ❓ what are the benefits of meditation?

i’m pretty new to meditation and it’s something i’ve wanted to do for a long time.

I’m a very stressful person and i tend to overthink a lot, i already journal everyday and that helps but i really need help calming down. I’m constantly alert and i get so strsssed that my heart races and i panic.

My first attempts of meditation were short as I heard that’s how your start, just a few minutes and only focus on your breathing. I listen to ambient noises in the background as they help me calm down.

Idk if people meditate in order to pray or anything, i’m not religious and i have my own beliefs.

I just want advice on the overall benefits people have felt from meditation, what’s the best and most effective way to do it, and how often and how long most do it for. I’m open to all constructive criticism!

Question ❓ What’s the point of meditation?

People who express feelings of overwhelming anxiety are often given the advice, “Just get out of your head.” And I finally understand what that means. Just stay present in your body, and let thoughts and feelings pass. But that’s the essence of mindfulness meditation. Keep your focus on your breath and bring it back any time you get distracted by a thought or feeling. So what’s the point of sitting down for 10-30 minutes and practicing that in an isolated session when you can just practice that at all times throughout the day? Wouldn’t the best practice be to live like that and apply it in real life situations?

Question ❓ Closed-eye hallucinations— Are they detrimental?

I have long been interested in closed eye visuals/hallucinations ever since inadvertently experiencing them (level 2 + 3) when following a “how to lucid dream” tutorial. Upon researching them I realized you can achieve them through meditation.

As an artist I would absolutely love to be able to access a richer and more vivid plethora of visuals in my mind’s eye, but Im honestly rather afraid of them. Many people describe them as scary or even seeing them while their eyes are open, or being unable to stop them from coming to them when trying to sleep on a regular night. Is this a healthy practice? Does this happen with certain meditations (like just concentrating on lower levels of closed eye visuals when they occur) or does it happen naturally in your meditation journey? I am afraid of ‘turning on’ that part of my brain and experiencing it anytime I want to rest, having hallucinations appear with my eyes open, and/or causing myself sleep paralysis. But it seems like such an interesting thing to explore.

Question ❓ Feeling detachment

Before I learned meditation, breathwork and daily devotional practice, I was extremely anxious, impulsive and insecure. I was always focused on what others were doing in their lives and never gaining insight on my own. After continuously practicing meditation, I feel more calm and confident, however I feel detachment. It's like I dont care about superficial desires anymore. I dont care about social status, most of the desires I once had have come to a halt. Please enlighten me if this is normal.

Does anyone know about the Vigyana Bhairava Tantra book ?

It lists down 112 meditation techniques (centers in the body) and reveals ways to meditate.
I've been working with the book and meditation for the past 09 years & just discovered this community. Wanted to know what you all think about it, have any experience, insight, or commentaries from it ?

Question ❓ Want guidance

I just started meditating for 5-6 days.. I noticed 2 things while meditating, first that I don't have any thoughts when I close my eyes and start meditating and 2nd I get thoughts but they are so senseless close to dreams..even dreams seem real but my thoughts while meditating are so childlike...I observe it at that moment but when I open my eyes I forget everything that I observed.

Am I doing it the right way?

Question ❓ Body Telling Me To Stop Meditation?

I am very new to meditation, and today was my first day ever truly attempting to open my mind spiritually. I just sat alone in my room, with all sound off except an LED light, and sat up in my bed with my eyes closed for an hour straight. I slowly started thinking about a light in my head and i started receiving closed eyes visuals lining up with my breathing. I could only describe it as a purple light that would become a tiny circle as i breathed in, and would expand far into my whole sight as i breathed out. This continued for about 20 minutes until i felt like i couldn’t breathe anymore and the light looked as if it bursted. I then opened my eyes to feel a heavy head feeling and almost the urge to break until tomorrow. Has this happened to anyone before?

Other Strange things during meditation

I've started meditating roughly 4 months ago. Before that I could never sit still for more than 5 minutes, but after a psychedelic trip of the big kind it suddenly isn't a problem anymore. Quite the opposite.

Since I have a busy schedule and I'm too tired in the mornings and evenings, I only meditate during my lunch break. There is a nice green spot in front of the office where no one disturbs me.

Usually I put on some music, something soft, just to drown out the cars outside. Then I close my eyes and just focus on my breathing for a while. No special technique or anything. I just breathe and observe.

  1. A shift in the location of my sense of self

Dunno how to better explain this. When I ask you where you feel "yourself" inside the body, most people will point at the head or maybe the chest. For me it used to be specifically the back of my head. It always felt as if I was located somewhere behind my body, kinda... Yes, trauma, dissociation... I know about these.

At one point during meditation I felt pressure in my head, in increased with every breath, but also felt kinda pleasant. So I focused on that for a bit and then... it just happened. It's incredibly hard to explain, but from one moment to the next I was no longer in the back, but in the middle of my head. When I got from the meditation everything looked as if I had gotten slightly taller too. But only for a few hours. That shift was permanent and hast changed to this day.

  1. Euphoria without emotion

This one is more subtle, but now I sometimes have a phenomena where I feel a sort of mental arousal or euphoria? It's quite pleasant and it feels like there _should l_ be an emotional component to it, but I'm just calm and quiet inside.

  1. Patterns, lights or visions

Not always, but sometimes I start seeing very faint geometric patterns. It's somewhere at the edge of questioning whether it's really there or not.

More often it's waves of white light bands. Like when you see a wave, but only the edges glow. The come from all directions and move around with no pattern.

Other times it seems almost as if I started dreaming, although I'm wide awake. Pictures appear in front of my inner eye, just like in a dream. It's mostly images of Shiva... don't ask. I'm not sure myself why that is... I've never been a practising Hindu and don't know too much about him in general. But afterwards I did look up what he means and all and it's very fitting for a lot of my current life.

So yeah... dunno if there is a question. It's just weird things happening and I find them pretty interesting.

Question ❓ Will silence help me feel how I felt?

Hi for context. I had a psychosis breakdown from edibles mixed with an ssri and contemplated my whole life. Locked in hard, signed up for hobbies and took things seriously. With all these distractions around me. I’m wondering if living in complete silence will help me rediscover thoughts about how I live. Could this help me?

Question ❓ Resource for getting kids into it?

Wondering if anyone has had a good experience with helping their middle school age kids get into meditation. Kids role their eyes at the idea and having them listen to a guided session is “weird”. Anyone you’ve had your kids listen to that seem to get them interested?

Question ❓ My body still feels different 24hrs after session.

Hello, I’m new so bear with me.

During my session yesterday I began feeling a buzz or vibration around my body. When my session was over my body felt very heavy and sluggish and now a day later and I’m feeling this buzz in arms and legs and slightly across my forehead. It’s not a bad feeling but it’s odd. In a way it feels like that moment in a good satisfying stretch when your arms quiver slightly before you release it.

I’ve read that it probably was due to breathing and reducing CO2 but this is a day later, not immediately after. Has anyone else experienced this? While not everything can be attributed to meditation, the feeling first appeared during that session.

Question ❓ Slow motion & amplified thoughts after Kriya experiences?

I have been experiencing many Kriya experiences the past few days through meditation. My arms, legs, back and head all move randomly by itself and stretch like crazy. Usually it’s a slow process but sometimes it can get quite violent and aggressive.

It even happens when I’m just chilling on the coach or trying to get to sleep.

As well as that, I notice that my thought are going in slow motion. It also feels like they’re more vivid and pronounced? It kind feels like I am on weed and feeling more self conscious? It’s kind of like my senses are up couple notches and feel more stimulating and can be a little overwhelming?

Is this common? Has anyone experienced this after Kundalini or Kriya?

Sharing / Insight 💡 Knowing Pain vs Being in Pain

The mind and body experience pain. We know this. Awareness/spirit knows pain but only experiences it if it identifies itself with and considers the mind and body our core identity. The body and mind are like our children or the leaves of a tree. There for a season but are expressions of our awareness, not our core identity. We can teach them to work together and give them the love and care they need, but by allowing ourselves to be guided by something beyond their wounds, we walk with the full force of the universe at our backs. We no longer hold ourselves back.

One path to peace is to place the attention on the awareness that is aware of the mind and body and not the mind and body itself. This awareness is aware of the pain but is not wounded or driven by it.

I'm sure this is not an original thought, but it came to me at rock bottom. For anyone feeling lost at the moment, just know that our peace and joy are not tied to what we think or feel they are. They are already with us. It is a matter of attention.

Question ❓ Asking higher self for clearing subconscious program

Can I ask my higher self to clear a certain subconscious program? If so, is it enough if I say it out loud or do I have to meditate? It would be great if it was that simple :-(

Question ❓ Trouble finding a silent place to sit down in my home.

I've only recently started, getting fairly more confident on my ability to meditate.

However, my house is quite busy and usually can become overwhelming in the blink of an eye, I have 6 dogs and the road outside is usually loud.

It seems I can only find my house to be quiet near late at night but I wouldn't like to begin skipping sleep.

For added context, I am in my last year of school and I'm doing this to calm down about it all, I also am diagnosed with autism.

I don't want to restort to music or white noise so I'd like to ask for help on finding peace if everything around me can be quite noisy.

Sharing / Insight 💡 Strange, movable pressure like sensation in my head.

I am 24 years old, male, and I have recently considered meditation because when I study, I deal with constant zoning out and inefficient study hours. I have barely meditated before and I can't really say if I really understand what meditation even is to start with, a complete rookie.

My concern is, whenever I try to meditate, I can feel this pressure inside my head, as if some kind of energy is being concentrated in my head which turns into a strange heaviness after few minutes or seconds. This can happen whenever and wherever I want and not just while meditating or studying.

Fact is I can actually move it and direct it wherever I want in my head and concentrate it to that one specific point on my command. I don't know anything about meditation yet whenever I try to meditate, I move it on the middle my forehead, where a fictional "Third eye" is supposed to be.

I am concerned if is it even normal. As I can generate it wherever or whenever I want, even while doing some work as far as I am aware about it, it's not easy to stop that on command, and that pressure remains for a while. It stays till the moment I am aware about it or get distracted, and it also leaves a kind of after-effect like something happened there (I don't really know how to describe it.)

Another concern is that now I have noticed it, I feel it almost all the time whenever I think about it.

I am also sleep deprived most of the times so that could be a reason.

When I don't direct it anywhere in my head, I mostly feel it on my eyebrows, it's quite uncomfortable when it is on my eyebrows, but I try to move it somewhere else or just stop noticing it.

What exactly is it?

Am I just imagining it or is it something common? Also, should I be concerned about it? Both in meditation and medical terms.

(This post might not be very structured as I typed it in the middle of something.)

Question ❓ Meditation to cope with MRI

I’ve got an MRI coming up and I’m terribly claustrophobic. I’m a newbie at meditation but I want to try temporarily escaping my mind/body to cope with the fear. I realise disassociation is not the healthiest goal, but I really need to keep calm and go somewhere else for a little while.

I’ve got two weeks to practice. What techniques do you recommend? Are there guided meditation videos I could memorise?

(I will also have diazepam so that’ll help!)

Thank you!

Question ❓ Anyone else notice that Joe Dispenza, Gateway Tapes, and Silva Method meditations take you to completely different states?

I have been meditating for like 18 or so years on and off. Some years I do multiple hours per day. Others have large gaps of time between the sessions. I can move energy and I’ve learned a few other things along the way. I’m not new.

I’ve been experimenting with three different meditation methods: Joe Dispenza’s meditations(3 or 4 years), the Gateway Experience tapes (1 year on and off), and the Silva Method (less than a week).

What’s interesting to me is that even though these methods seem to aim for similar altered states of consciousness, the actual experiences feel noticeably different.

When I reach the mind-awake, body-asleep state using Joe Dispenza’s meditations, it feels different from reaching that state through the Gateway Tapes.
And when I use the Silva Method to enter what it describes as the alpha state and progressively go deeper, that feels different from both.

I’m curious whether anyone else who has practiced all three has noticed this.

I’d love to hear what differences you’ve noticed and what you think it means or what you can do with each of the states.

Question ❓ Consciousness/body “brake check” during meditation?

Hey everybody, first time ever posting in a Reddit community! Hopefully I do alright.

Just wanted some input on something that’s been happening to me recently while meditating.

So, I’ve been meditating 71 days straight using Insight Timer, a mix of guided meditations, the timer, binaural beats music, body scan etc. Usually ranging from 6-21 minutes a session. I lay on a foam roller going down the length of my spine, so I can open up my chest and help a little with my mild scoliosis. The effects on my equanimity, peace of mind, focus and overall quality of life have increased significantly as one could imagine after incorporating meditation in their life.

But to get to the point, starting a little under a week ago I noticed that usually around the 5 minute mark or later while my eyes are closed I get this sensation that like consciousness does like a “brake check”. It almost feels like my body is turning off for a second or two, which you would think seems like a good indicator of deep relaxation, but it honestly alerts me during my practice, and feels a little off, but then I just resume and finish out the meditation. It’s a sensation I feel like I haven’t felt before and it’s a little uncomfortable. I’m not sure if it’s my blood pressure getting too low or something. With the slow, deep breathing and clearing of the mind. I’m 32 y/o and a very healthy dude. Last night when I was trying to go to sleep I noticed it kind of happening again, which that’s never happened to me also (but makes sense since going to sleep is similar to meditation in terms of deep relaxation)

Just wondering if this is something that’s familiar to anyone else that meditates and their input or advice on it. Hadn’t seen really any similar cases. Want to make sure I can keep doing it because phew I love having this be such a beautiful part of my daily self care. Thanks!

Question ❓ What is the reason & purpose of a spontaneous Kriya?

I started to experience what’s known as a spontaneous Kriya during meditation the last few days. My goal was just to meditate, nothing more.

I started to have involuntary movements of my hands, legs head and back. Sometimes shaking and legs tensing.

Earlier today I lay down on my bed for 45 mins and my whole body started to do stretching like yoga without my conscious intention at all. It was a strange and fascinating. My whole body was moving without me telling it, just by itself.

I just let it happen and my body did its thing.

What is this?

I heard it’s signs of energy releasing itself from the body.

Anyone else experience this?
